Chapter 1 - New beginnings

Alicia stepped onto the Oakwood University campus, the crunch of gravel beneath her feet a familiar sound. She had dreamed of this moment for years, and now that it was finally here, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. The sprawling green lawns, the modern architecture, and the buzz of students rushing to class all seemed to blend together in a kaleidoscope of new experiences.

As she made her way to her dorm, Alicia couldn't help but think about the summer that had led her here. The painful memories still lingered, but she was determined to leave them behind and start anew. She took a deep breath, feeling the cool morning air fill her lungs, and smiled to herself. This was her chance to reinvent herself, to discover who she was outside of her family's expectations.

Alicia's eyes wandered to the student union building, where a group of students were setting up for an event. She noticed a guy with messy brown hair and piercing blue eyes, laughing with a group of friends. There was something about him that caught her attention...

As Alicia walked across the quad, she took in the vibrant atmosphere. Students milled about, chatting with friends or hurrying to class. The sound of laughter and music filled the air, mingling with the scent of freshly brewed coffee from the campus café.

Alicia followed the signs to her dorm, her suitcase wheels rumbling over the pavement. She passed by the library, its modern glass façade glinting in the morning sun. The student union building, with its bustling café and event spaces, seemed to be the hub of campus activity.

As she entered her dorm, Alicia was greeted by the friendly face of her RA, who showed her to her room. The cozy space was decorated with motivational posters and had a comfortable feel, despite its small size.

With her belongings unpacked, Alicia decided to explore the campus further. She wandered through the art building, admiring the student artwork on display, and strolled through the peaceful gardens, taking in the serene atmosphere.

As Alicia unpacked her belongings, she met her roommates, Emma and Mia. Emma, a bubbly blonde, greeted Alicia with a warm smile, while Mia, a quiet brunette, nodded hello from behind her laptop.

The three girls quickly discovered they had different personalities, but a shared love for music and movies. Emma was a drama major, Mia was studying engineering, and Alicia was undecided, but leaning towards psychology.

As the days passed, Alicia settled into her new routine, feeling a mix of emotions. Excitement and nervousness swirled together like a whirlwind, making her wonder if she was truly ready for this new chapter.

One day, Alicia attended a campus event for freshmen, hoping to meet new people. As she browsed the various booths, she stumbled upon a group of students gathered around a guitar-playing musician. The guy with messy brown hair and piercing blue eyes was sitting on the edge of the stage, strumming a soulful melody.

Alicia's heart skipped a beat as their eyes met. He smiled, and she felt a flutter in her chest. For a moment, they just looked at each other, the music fading into the background.

After the performance, Alicia mustered up the courage to approach him. "You play beautifully," she said, trying to sound casual.

"Thanks," he replied, his voice warm and gentle. "I'm Isaiah."

"I'm Alicia," she said, feeling a spark of connection.

As they chatted, Alicia discovered they shared a love for music and poetry. Isaiah was a junior, studying music composition, and Alicia found herself drawn to his creativity and passion.

As they parted ways, Alicia couldn't help but wonder if this chance encounter might be the start of something special. She felt a sense of hope and excitement that she hadn't experienced in a long time.

With a spring in her step, Alicia walked back to her dorm, her mind replaying their conversation. She smiled to herself, feeling a sense of possibility that she hadn't felt in a long time.

As she approached her dorm, she saw a note on her door. It was from Emma, inviting her to a movie night in their room. Alicia smiled, feeling grateful for her new friend.

Just as she was about to enter her room, she heard Isaiah's voice behind her. "Hey, Alicia. I forgot to ask for your number. Would you like to grab coffee with me sometime?"

Alicia's heart skipped a beat as she turned around, a smile spreading across her face...
