Percival Covington was a man who played by the rules of power, not law. The cold fury in his eyes made Dorian's stomach clench as they stood outside the police station.
"You can't be serious," Dorian hissed, grabbing Percival's arm. "Breaking into a police station? That's insanity!"
Percival shrugged off his touch. "She can't wait until morning."
His voice carried a finality that sent chills down Dorian's spine. This wasn't the calculated businessman Dorian had known for years. This was something else entirely—a man driven beyond reason.
"The paperwork will be processed by dawn," Dorian insisted. "A few more hours won't—"
"You saw the officer. Liliana Pierce has already decided Lyra is faking." Percival's jaw tightened. "If her condition is as severe as you say, she might not have hours."
Dorian ran a hand through his hair. "Listen to yourself! You're talking about committing a felony. Armed guards. Security systems. For a woman you barely know!"
