Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

Not far off, the Fu family's motorcade approached slowly.

The luxury convoy pulled up in front of the villa. From the lead extended Hummer, a long, slender leg stepped out first.

The moment the car door opened, it was as if a spotlight shone directly on Fu Siyan. No matter the occasion, he was always the most eye-catching presence—impossible to ignore.

Fu Siyan stood by the car, pausing for a few seconds before carefully helping an elderly man with silver hair step out.

The old man wore a traditional Tang suit and stepped out in a pair of handmade cloth shoes.

Despite his age, he stood tall and straight, his gait steady and powerful—like a tiger on the prowl. There was no trace of frailty in his bearing.

His face was lined with wrinkles, yet his eyes were piercingly sharp. When he looked at someone, there was an unmistakable air of authority in his gaze—commanding and dignified, like a blade hidden in its sheath.

Su Jin was startled to see the entire Fu family arriving together.

Master Fu was no ordinary figure. Under his leadership, the Fu family had weathered countless storms. His presence was like an anchor to the entire clan—steady, unshakable, revered.

It was said that Master Fu had served in the military in his youth, earning countless honours and battlefield achievements. He was a living legend.

Su Jin had always held deep respect—and a touch of fear—for Master Fu.

Standing beside the old lady, she wore a composed and graceful smile. Neither humble nor arrogant, she maintained perfect poise. Even in front of a figure as formidable as Master Fu, she showed no trace of fear.

The old lady, observing her quietly, finally smiled with satisfaction.

Yes—this was how her granddaughter should be: dignified, composed, and wise beyond her years.

"Old lady, we're here to celebrate your birthday," Master Fu said warmly as he stepped forward to greet her.

The old lady turned with a gentle smile. "Master Fu, you're too kind. Please, come in."

The two had known each other for decades. In their younger years, they shared a mutual respect, and with longstanding business ties between the Su and Fu families, their connection had only deepened over time.

"Happy birthday, Old Lady," Fu Siyan said as he stepped forward, presenting a carefully prepared gift.

The old lady beamed with joy, her smile nearly stretching from ear to ear. Just as Mrs. Li moved to take the gift, the old lady stopped her with a light chuckle and said, " Su Jin what you doing just standing there? Isn't it your place to accept the gift?"

Su Jin snapped out of her thoughts and lifted her eyes to meet Fu Siyan's. The moment their gazes met, her heart gave an involuntary jolt. She quickly stepped forward to accept the gift.

But as her fingers brushed against his, she felt a coldness—icy and devoid of warmth.

Just like the man himself. Cold, distant, as if carved from stone.

But today, his eyes were even colder than she remembered. No trace of the gentle warmth from the past—only a sharp indifference, laced with unmistakable disdain.

Su Jin was a little taken aback. She hadn't done anything to provoke Fu Siyan recently—so why was he treating her this way?

The old lady, fully focused on welcoming the Fu family, didn't notice the subtle shift in Su Jin's expression.

Once the guests had settled in the living room, Mrs. Li served tea with practiced grace.

The old lady invited Master Fu to enjoy some tea, then turned to Su Jin and said, "Xiao Jin, go help Grandma take the gifts upstairs."

Master Fu had brought a generous number of gifts—jewelry, fine calligraphy and paintings, ginseng, and Ganoderma lucidum—filling the living room with an air of prestige and abundance.

Su Jin looked at the pile of gifts, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

There was no way she could carry all of them alone. Just as she was about to ask Mrs. Li for help, Master Fu spoke up, "Siyan, give her a helping hand."

Fu Siyan's expression was unreadable. Without saying a word, he picked up a few gift boxes and followed Su Jin upstairs.

Su Jin's heart was a mess. She couldn't figure out how she had managed to offend this man again.

After finding a suitable place, she quietly began arranging the gifts one by one.

Then — bang — the door slammed shut behind them.
