Chapter 19 - Will you be my Girlfriend?

The sound of the shower that came from the bathroom was the only sound on Saitama's apartment now. After several hours and rounds later he finally was satisfied while Mizuki had passed out, the first thing she did after waking up was go to the bathroom without spearing a glance towards his direction.

That gave him bad spine and induced him to overthink eternally.

Did I overdo it? Maybe I let myself let loose too much? He thought while he rested on his bed, still naked.

I mean, she was wild and out of control too for a while so...yeah I think she's okay or at least I hope so. However what is making me uneasy now is that it was the first date and we already did it, I didn't wanted things to go so fast, but I just got out of control as soon as I saw her with her athletism clothes... on my home.

His libido had returned to normal levels and his cock was not asleep again, so his 12 inches had returned to his normal 10 inches. Still big proportions but at least he didn't feel like he was carrying an extra leg now, specially now that his balls were empty. That helped him a lot.

However, his thoughts would have to wait as the sound of the shower turning off reached his ears, followed by soft footsteps echoing from the bathroom tiles.

Okay, calm down. It doesn't matter what happened last night. Even if it's weird, I have to talk to her when she comes out, to ask her that... he told himself, nodding slightly as if that would help settle his nerves.

Click!

The bathroom door unlocked with a soft metallic sound, and slowly opened. Mizuki stepped out, her athletic frame wrapped in a white towel, another one coiled around her hair. Steam still clung faintly to her skin, and for a second she seemed almost ethereal in the warm light of the apartment. But the look in her eyes wasn't bright or playful like usual—it was serious, focused entirely on him.

That made Saitama gulp.

Okay… You got this.

He got up from the bed and slipped on his boxers quickly, the air on his bare skin doing little to cool the heat rising in his chest. His steps were cautious as he walked up to her, heart pounding despite the neutral look he tried to keep.

"Hi," he said awkwardly. "Did you enjoy the bath?"

Mizuki's lips parted as if she were going to answer, but then she hesitated. Her mouth closed again, her brows furrowed slightly, and for a moment, it looked like she was genuinely unsure of what to say.

God, please have mercy for what I am gonna ask, he thought, already bracing for the worst as he prepared himself to talk.

However, on that moment she took a breath, straightened slightly, and looked him in the eye. She was gonna talk first.

"Saitama," she said softly, "I'm sorry for what happened last night. I acted in an unprofessional manner... not just as a hero, but as an athlete. I let myself get carried away, and that's not how I want to represent myself. I'm sorry."

She bowed her head respectfully, formal and sincere.

His brain short-circuited.

She's apologizing?!

"No, Mizuki, I should be the one apologizing," he said quickly, taking a step forward, eyes wide and voice earnest. "I acted like a total horndog last night. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean for things to go that far… I just…" He scratched the back of his head, his eyes darting down for a second as if the floor might offer him better advice. "I guess I still don't know how to handle things like this."

She blinked, slightly confused. "Things like… what?"

"This. Us, I mean." He let out a breath, shrugging helplessly. "You're just… you're too perfect for me. You're an athlete with a killer body, and also a superhero. You're strong, determined, confident… and not selfish or egotistical like half the people out there. You're also kind. Caring. You push others to be better—specially me, even if you don't know it."

He paused, letting the words settle. His voice dropped to something quieter, more vulnerable. "What I'm trying to say is… I really like you. And I would like for us to keep doing things together… not just training or sparring or eating takeout on the couch. I mean… like a couple. You know. Dating, being together."

He closed his eyes tightly, bracing himself. Waiting for the hit. For the awkward laugh. The "I am not looking for something serious" or the "I don't think we should see each other anymore" speech.

But nothing came.

So, hesitantly, he opened one eye—then the other.

Mizuki was standing there, towel still wrapped tightly around her body, but suddenly seeming very small inside it. Her cheeks were flushed a deep red, her eyes wide with surprise, and her lips parted slightly as if she was struggling to find words.

"You…" she started, then stopped. Her hand instinctively touched the side of her face as if trying to cool the heat spreading across it. "You really mean that?"

Saitama nodded slowly, his heart hammering harder than during any serious fight.

A nervous laugh slipped out of her. Not mocking—just disbelieving. "Wow. I mean… I didn't expect you to say that. Honestly, I thought you were just, well… being a guy yesterday. Acting on impulse."

"I mean… yeah," he said with a half-smile. "That too. But it wasn't just that. You've been here, in my life, and I realized I look forward to seeing you every time. That doesn't happen a lot for me."

Specially since I ended on the body on one of the most cynical persons on Earth.

Her blush deepened, but now she was smiling. She looked down for a moment, then back at him, meeting his gaze with something more than affection—relief.

"I like you too," she said at last, her voice quiet but firm. "Honestly, yesterday I still wasn't sure if I like you too, but I do, I just...I just wasn't sure still what to feel, but you have helped me to make my mind."

"Initially I didn't know however how to act yesterday if I tell you the truth, I mean, you were so impulsive and passionate and I never experienced that, I just didn't know how to react, that was the reason why I was so confused, not for you, but on how I had to answer to your actions." She said while she blushed, her tone was more shy now.

"Yeah," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck, "I'm kinda terrible at this...thing, I also didn't ever do something similar. But that doesn't change that what I feel is true for me and I will prove it. Mizuki do you want me to be my girlfriend?"

Mizuki stood there for a second, towel still clinging tightly to her athletic frame, steam rising gently off her skin. She tilted her head slightly, lips parted as if trying to find the right thing to say—but nothing came out at first.

Then, a small, nervous giggle escaped her lips.

"W-Whoa, um… that was kinda serious, huh?" she said, cheeks going a little pink. "You just… dropped the girlfriend word like bam!"

Saitama blinked, unsure. "Too soon?"

"N-No! I mean—yes! No! I mean…" She flailed a little, raising her hands before letting them fall against her thighs with a light slap. "Ugh, I don't know how this works! I've already told you!! I've never done this stuff before either!"

He couldn't help but chuckle, and her pout deepened adorably.

"I'm being serious!" she huffed, puffing her cheeks. "You say nice things, and I feel all fluttery inside, and then my brain just melts and turns into… oatmeal or something!"

"Oatmeal, huh?" he grinned.

"Don't make fun of me!" she whined, swatting lightly at his arm—though there was no real force behind it. "You're the one who said I'm perfect and stuff! Like, what do I even say back to that?!"

"How about… yes?" he suggested, half-smiling. "To being a couple?"

She blinked, then looked at the floor, twisting the towel nervously in her hands. For a moment, she was completely quiet.

"…Okay," she whispered, almost too low to hear. Then louder, with her usual energy bubbling back up, "Okay! But, uh—just so you know! I'm totally new to this, so no being weird or gross, alright?"

"I make no promises," he said with a smirk.

"Hey!!" she pouted again, then broke into laughter. "You're the worst!"

He laughed along with her, and it felt good—natural.

"But," she added, calming a little as she looked up at him again, "before we do any more couple-y stuff… we should eat something. I'm starving."

"Breakfast?" he offered.

"Yup!" she nodded, grinning. "You're cooking though. You owe me."

"Fair," he said with a shrug. "Pancakes?"

"Pancakes and eggs," she said, wagging a finger. "I burned a lot of calories yesterday."

"Fine, fine."

They turned toward the kitchen together, but after a few steps, Mizuki paused.

"Hey, um… I should probably head back to A-City after we eat," she said, rubbing her arm shyly. "There's stuff I need to do… training, patrols, hero work… You know."

"You don't have to rush," Saitama replied, tone neutral but with a hint of disappointment.

"I know," she said with a small smile. "But I want to. I need to stay sharp, y'know? Being your girlfriend doesn't mean I'll stop pushing myself."

He gave her a look that said I wouldn't expect anything less.

"And don't worry," she added with a wink, "I'll text you. Or call! Or both! You'll probably get sick of me."

He raised a brow. "Not likely."

Her grin widened while her bulsh deepened.

And on that moment and for the rest of the breakfast, Saitama's only thought was:

She is too cute.
