I blinked, disoriented, as thick white fog swallowed me whole. The cliff disappeared beneath my feet. The forest vanished. Ronan and Regina's voices faded into nothing, leaving only ghostly silence.
"Hello?" I called out, my voice strangely muted in the dense mist. "Ronan? Regina?"
No answer came. I tried to move forward, but the fog was so thick I couldn't tell if I was making any progress. Every direction looked the same – just endless, swirling white.
Then, a voice. Low and mocking.
"Look at you, so lost and pathetic."
My blood froze. I knew that voice. I would recognize it anywhere.
"Amelia," I whispered, my heart thundering against my ribs.
She emerged from the fog like a specter, her blonde hair flowing around her face, her blue eyes cold and cruel. Just as beautiful as I remembered, just as poisonous.
"The one and only," she replied with a smile that never reached her eyes. "Surprised to see me, Sera?"
