I pressed myself against the car door as Julian sped away from the hotel parking lot, my heart hammering against my ribs. Through the rear window, I caught a glimpse of Tristan rushing out of the hotel, his face contorted with concern as our car disappeared around the corner.
"This is kidnapping," I repeated, my voice shaking with rage. "You can't just force me to go with you!"
Julian's jaw tightened as he navigated through the darkened streets, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. "We need to talk, Aurelia. Without interruptions. Without your new Alpha boyfriend interfering."
"He's not my boyfriend," I snapped. "And since when do you care?"
He shot me a sideways glance, his amber eyes flashing dangerously. "I've always cared."
The bitter laugh that escaped my lips sounded foreign even to my own ears. "You have a funny way of showing it."
