The Rolls-Royce glided to a stop outside Moonstone Dining Hall, the most prestigious restaurant in the territory. I hadn't been here since before Violet was born. Back when Julian still pretended to care.
"We've arrived," Victor said, his gray eyes watching me intently.
I smoothed down my dress, suddenly conscious of my plain appearance compared to the elegant restaurant. "I'm not dressed for somewhere this fancy."
Victor smiled, a gesture that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Nonsense. You look lovely."
The driver opened our door, and Victor extended his hand to help me out. I hesitated before taking it, remembering the Matriarch's words: *Alpha Sinclair's alliance could be crucial for your protection*.
The maître d' recognized Victor immediately. "Alpha Sinclair, your private room is ready."
Private room? My stomach knotted with unease.
"I thought we'd be in the main dining area," I said quietly as we followed the host through the restaurant.
