The sleek black SUV pulled up beside me as I walked along the sidewalk. I picked up my pace, clutching my purse tighter. The window rolled down, revealing Julian's hard face.
"Get in," he commanded.
"I'm late for work," I replied, continuing to walk.
Julian's SUV inched alongside me. "Get in the car, Aurelia. Now."
His tone sent a chill down my spine. I'd seen him angry before, but this was different—colder, more controlled. Against my better judgment, I stopped walking.
"What do you want?"
"We need to talk. Get in."
I weighed my options. Making a scene would only draw unwanted attention. Reluctantly, I yanked open the passenger door and slid in.
"Make it quick," I said, staring straight ahead.
Julian's knuckles whitened on the steering wheel as he pulled away from the curb. "You're meeting Alpha Sinclair today."
It wasn't a question. My heart rate doubled, but I kept my expression neutral. "And if I am?"
"You're not." His amber eyes flashed dangerously. "I forbid it."
