Chapter 13 - The Darkest Moment Begins

The fall felt endless, as if it was never ending. Nitaru continued to spiral down towards the ground, which he was approaching at an alarming rate. Tokima had pushed him off the skyscraper that Akujin had just set ablaze, and it was all coming to Nitaru as not a shock, but something to be enraged for. Shards of glass glistened in the explosion's bright bursts of flames, the steel structure of the high rise collapsing from the destructive power of the explosives. Smoke rose high into the thunderous sky, thunder rumbling and crackling through the clouds like overflowing water from a cup. Things have escalated way too far, and Nitaru wasn't just going to let Akujin have some sort of win because she killed the leader of the Organization.

As Nitaru approached the ground, he didn't flinch, but he prepared himself for the landing.

"Dagger of the Merciless Night." Nitaru performed the technique with such ease and flipped himself over and landed smoothly onto his feet. As debris began to crumble down beside him, he slowly walked away into the shadows of the surrounding buildings, as if waiting for the right moment to strike.

Yuja and Ryota both reached the destructive zone first, their nostrils filling with the overwhelming scent of smoke and ashes from the blazing fire arising from the destroyed building. A huge smoke cloud arose over the building, covering others, and blocking the distance to see in front of them.

"Dammit, I hope no one was in that building. That was the worst explosion tonight," Ryota coughed, trying to find a clearing to breathe cleaner air.

Ruka and Zak arose from the other side of the smoke cloud, scaring Yuja and Ryota for a moment, but then they settled down as they realized. From the opposite side of them, Gyonu emerged from the smoke, rushing over to them.

"Where's everyone else?" Gyonu asked worriedly, "Our numbers dwindled severely in only an hour!"

"We must be the only ones left..." Yuja said under his breath, not trying to ruin the mood, but there was no way a lot of people could've survived that explosion or any of the encounters.

Akito and Ezra both jumped from one of the buildings, using curtains as a makeshift parachute to land safely on the ground. They sighed a breath of relief as they finally reunited with everyone.

"Gosh, you guys are all okay!" Ezra sniffled, hugging Ruka tightly, not wanting to let go.

"Where's Heizu?" Akito asked Gyonu, curiously since Heizu wasn't present.

Gyonu remained silent for a little after Akito asked that question, then he looked up at Heizu, "He's somewhere, I couldn't find him..."

"Don't lie," a mysterious voice emerged from the debris, "Gyonu, you really know what happened to Heizu. You rather just not tell everyone since you failed to protect and help that useless and pathetic junk."

They all looked towards where the voice was coming from, and from the bright flames that continued to burn. was a silhouette with a huge sword by the side of their body, walking with it in hand. Gyonu didn't answer, just standing there in shock at the harsh tone the person used about Heizu.

Out of nowhere, the figure jolts forward, swinging their unusually long golden sword that flickered in the bright flames behind them, and they prepared a technique as the sword swung towards all of them. The action was so quickly that they all backed up, stunned.

The woman with golden hairpins in her hair, a flowy cape and an all-black leather outfit, with golden irises for her eye color that shined in the dark like some sinister creature of an otherworldly nature. She appeared behind them all due to their slow reactions, and she grasped her sword tightly with a wide grin.

"Dance of the Dragon's Fang: Twisted Darkness of the Moonlight"

The technique unleashed, and it cracked the entire ground so harshly that the pressure caused nearby buildings to shake so violently that it began to topple over certain buildings in the vicinity. Everyone had little time to react, and Akito gripped his stomach as it seared in unbearable pain.

"Akito!!" Ezra screamed as she helped him to his feet, blood dripping from his mouth.

Akujin, with inhuman speed, swung her golden sword once again, this time upwards, and Yuja began to counter.

"Torrential Rip Current!" Big waves of blue water emitted from Yuja's crystal wand, and the water splashed messily everywhere, and it sizzled as it was boiling water. Akujin swiftly and easily dodged every single drop, flinging herself upwards, bending backwards, and unleashing her technique.

"Dance of the Dragon's Tail: Slithering Typhoon of Death!"

Akujin parried Yuja's attack with an even deadlier one, a golden glow emitting from her sword as black liquid splatters onto Yuja's arm, and Yuja grits his teeth as the excruciating pain disrupts his thinking process.

"Wild Rose!" Ezra slashed Akujin's back, which grazed the skin on her neck. Akujin flipped herself at Ezra, kicking her in the face and then slicing Ezra's arm in the same way Ezra slashed Akujin's back.

"Aghh!" Ezra screamed, clutching her arm that was bleeding heavily

Gyonu managed to hold off Akujin, but he knew it wouldn't be for long, "We need Nitaru! Where the hell is he? I didn't get a notification that he has no pulse! I implanted a pulse measurer on his arm so that I would know he's alive or not!"

Akujin grinned, "He's dead! He died in that rubble over there! Tokima pushed him off the building before I exploded the entire thing! How do you feel that both your leader and your strongest soldier are dead!?"

Akujin launched herself at Gyonu, unleashing her deadly technique.

"Dance of the Dragon's Breath: Blazing Rage!"

Fire sloshed around all around Akujin, and she knew Gyonu was severely burnt beyond recovery. But when the fire cleared, Gyonu was gone. Not standing there. Which was weird, since Akujin was good at sensing when someone was nearby her. Then in the corner of her eye, she saw Gyonu, completely unharmed and resting against a giant piece of steel in the ground. How could he have run away from such a wide range of an attack?

"Akujin," a grim voice said right behind her ear, so close that it was shocking to Akujin without being able to detect it, "You dare lay injuries and inflictions on them?" The voice grinned with overwhelming rage and excitement.

"May I return the favor then?" Nitaru grinned widely, putting his obsidian dagger to Akujin's throat.

Akujin blinked multiple times, thinking it was just a dream. She gripped her golden sword tighter, but her arm was somehow paralyzed, not being able to raise her arm. This was it, she thought. It was about time someone had somehow be able to defeat her.
