Author's Pov...
Ren had finally reached his limit.
The CEO, the soldier, the gym trainer, the plumber, the tax officer—the entire circus parade of husbands! He was done. Finished. Exhausted.
So, he did the only thing a logical man would do.
Pack his bags and file for divorce.
Ren furiously folded his clothes, his suitcase wide open on the bed. His silk shirts? Stuffed. His precious silver chain? Tossed in with no care. His favorite sweater? Shoved in like a crumpled tissue.
He slapped the signed divorce papers on the coffee table like a victory flag.
"That's it. Goodbye, Evan. I'm free. No more soldiers at 5 AM, no more surprise yoga sessions, no more tax raids—" he ranted as he zipped his suitcase with finality.
He marched to the front door, his freedom just a few steps away. The summer breeze kissed his face as he yanked the door open....
"Good morning, sir. You are under arrest for the crime of…"
Ren blinked.
Standing before him was Evan in yet another outrageous outfit.
This time, dressed as a police officer.
A perfectly ironed uniform, shiny black boots, aviator sunglasses perched on his nose, a pair of handcuffs hanging from his belt like he was ready to star in a cop drama.
"…for stealing my heart," Officer Kade finished with a smirk, spinning his handcuffs on one finger.
Ren's jaw dropped.
This has to be illegal.
"Officer Kade of the Love Enforcement Unit, reporting for duty," Evan—no, Kade—saluted.
"Are you serious?!" Ren spluttered. "You are doing this now?!"
"I have received several reports," Kade said, pulling out a ridiculously pink notepad. "Apparently, you have stolen something very precious."
Ren pinched the bridge of his nose. "Please. Can I at least call a lawyer?"
"Too late," Kade chuckled as he swiftly handcuffed Ren's wrists together. "I'm your law now."
The cool metal clicked around his wrists and Ren gawked at him in disbelief. "You can't just cuff me! This isn't how the justice system works!"
"Oh, but it is," Kade hummed, stepping in close, his breath grazing Ren's ear. "When the crime is you stealing my heart, I can make my own laws."
Ren's face turned bright red. "T-This isn't funny!" He struggled, his chained wrists awkwardly bumping against his chest. "Where are you taking me now?!"
Kade tugged the handcuff chain gently, leading Ren down the mansion steps like a man on a mission.
"To the interrogation room."
Ren's panic skyrocketed. "W-Wait, what interrogation room?!"
Kade didn't answer. He smirked and dragged Ren through the garden path, past confused butlers and giggling maids.
Finally, they entered a sunlit side room—a quiet, cozy space decorated with soft cushions, a low table, and two chairs set face-to-face.
Kade guided Ren to one chair and handcuffed his wrists to the chair's wooden armrest, locking him in place with a soft click.
"Seriously?!" Ren snapped, tugging at the cuffs. "You are taking this way too far!"
Kade leaned in close, eyes twinkling with mischief. "Relax, babe. This is just an emotional interrogation."
"Emotional…..what?!"
"Question one," Kade said smoothly, pulling out his pink notepad. "When did you first develop feelings for me?"
"I never did!" Ren barked.
Kade hummed, scribbling something on his pad. "Denial. Classic. Moving on."
He tossed his notepad aside and suddenly perched himself on Ren's lap, straddling him like it was the most natural thing in the world.
"W-Wait! Too close!" Ren stuttered, his ears burning. "This isn't a proper procedure—"
Kade leaned forward, their noses almost touching. "Tell me, is your heart beating this fast because you are guilty?"
Ren squirmed in his chair, heart thumping wildly in his chest. "I—I don't know what you are talking about!"
"Oh?" Kade smirked, his fingers tracing lazy circles along Ren's collarbone. "Are you sure?"
The heat radiating from Kade's body, the playful glint in his eyes, the soft pressure of his thighs pressed against Ren's—it was too much.
Ren's brain short-circuited. "Can I—can I at least call my parents?!"
Kade tilted his head. "No outside communication during questioning."
"I WANT TO CALL A LAWYER!" Ren cried.
"Sorry, sweetheart. The love court doesn't allow bail."
With a wicked grin, Kade leaned in, whispering against Ren's reddening ear.
"Confess, Ren. How many times have you thought about me today?"
"I—I thought about how to escape you!"
Kade's chest vibrated with laughter as he gently booped Ren's nose.
"Wrong answer, babe. Another penalty."
"What penalty?!"
Kade tugged the handcuffs lightly. "You are stuck with me all day now."
Ren let his head fall back against the chair with a loud thunk. "I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"
Kade chuckled, brushing his knuckles along Ren's soft cheek. "Don't worry. I will go easy on you…..maybe."
As Ren groaned in defeat, the realization hit him like a brick.
There was no escaping Evan.
Not as the CEO.
Not as the soldier.
Not as the tax officer.
And certainly not as the lovesick cop who just arrested his soul.
Ren sighed, closing his eyes. "How many more husbands do I have left to meet…?"
But the mansion only echoed back silence.
