Chapter 4 - Food and Mood

Asher sat on the cold throne, glancing at Gavin.

"Gavin. What's the situation outside?"

The armored knight stood at attention, silent for a second before answering.

"Khavlac… is untouched. No humans…"

His voice was monotone.

"But… demons are… hungry… and dying."

"…Why?"

"Because… of drought…"

Asher rubbed his temples. No farming, no food… and it's winter.

He opened the in-game forum, hoping for ideas. Most of it was typical chatter—guides, memes, guild ads.

Until one post caught his eye:

"Reminder: food/water in inventory are basically infinite until Level 10. Your welcome!"

His eyes widened.

He hadn't hit Level 10 yet.

Meaning… his food would still auto-replenish.

He stood. "Gavin. I need ingredients. Edible stuff. Now."

"Yes… King…"

Gavin gave a silent nod to the others, and the living armors marched out.

Three hours later, they returned with piles of food: herbs, mushrooms, some dried meat-looking things.

"…That's way too much. But fine."

Asher stored most of it in his inventory, keeping just enough to cook a test batch.

He looked at Gavin again.

"Is there a chef here?"

Gavin tilted his helmet slightly. "…Chef?"

Asher sighed. "Someone who cooks food."

"…No."

"Of course not."

Asher followed Gavin to a fireplace room. There, he made a basic mushroom stew—mushrooms, herbs, and a pinch of whatever seasoning he could find.

When it was done, he stored it in his inventory and held his breath.

The stew reappeared as a usable item. It worked.

"Let's go!"

He called out, "Gavin. Gather demons. Starving ones."

Gavin saluted. "At once…"

Not long after, dozens of demons filled the hall. Different races, same condition—hollow eyes and thin limbs.

Asher drew in a breath and activated his cool king mode.

"Demons. I know you are of many races. But I do not discriminate.

I will not let you starve."

He ordered Gavin to distribute the food, then stepped down from the throne and walked toward a side door he hadn't noticed until now.

Behind him, Gavin and the armors began distributing food.

"The Luminary King still lives… thank Arkein…"

"We don't have to suffer anymore…"

"Hail the hero! Hail Arkein!"

"HAIL!"

But amid the cheers, one figure watched Asher quietly—silent, steady.

"Luminary… at last."

Unaware of any of it, Asher skipped down the hallway, humming.

Damn. I was cool as hell.

Remaining oblivious.
