Chapter 137 - 142 Ye Feng's Shock

At this moment, inside the cockpit, the helicopter's alarms blared, the instrument panel was in chaos, and the pilot was completely bewildered. The joysticks refused to respond, and he was nearly heartbroken.

It was strange, though. The propellers had stopped, and the engine had ceased working, from ten meters in the air, yet somehow the plane didn't crash, not even a scratch. It was incredibly bizarre.

"What's going on... why are the alarms going off?" The plane lurched, sending the soldiers and Ye Feng staggering in the back cabin.

"Lieutenant Colonel, I don't know what's going on. The engine suddenly shut down. Logically, the plane should have crashed, but nothing's happened. It's so strange!" The pilot, also a little distressed, completely baffled.

"Let's go down. They should be waiting for us..." Although Ye Feng was surprised, he had seen a lot, so he guessed it was a supernatural force, so he opened the hatch and exited the helicopter.

Ye Feng's eyes swept over and saw Su Ming. Su Ming was too conspicuous, sitting nonchalantly on the sofa in the open space up ahead, surrounded by a group of beautiful women.

Looking at the two maid-clad girls kneeling on the ground, feeding Su Ming, and the seemingly young little girl Yue Mingkong beside them, Ye Feng immediately labeled Su Ming a bad guy.

Behind him, a dozen soldiers emerged from the cabin, fully armed, and followed Ye Feng.

Ye Feng's eyes grew wary. These soldiers didn't make him feel safe, but instead made him feel that Su Ming was a bit unpredictable, giving them a head start from the start.

After straightening his clothes and taking a few steps forward, Ye Feng came within three meters of Su Ming. It was a perfect position, neither too far to talk comfortably nor too close to seem aggressive. "Hello, I'm Lieutenant Colonel Ye Feng of the Zhili Jiangcheng Military District. What's your name?"

"Su Ming..." he said calmly, gazing at the lieutenant colonel with interest.

Ye Feng took a report from the soldier behind him and read it out under Su Ming's gaze. "Mr. Su, hello. According to the deliberations of the generals of the Jiangcheng Military District, if you are willing to join the district and contribute your strength to kill zombies and save humanity, the Jiangcheng Military District can grant you a prize and a series of corresponding rights, and award you the Hero Medal for Killing Zombies."

Su Ming's eyes were filled with amusement. He was being given a prize rank right off the bat. Sure enough, if it wasn't his own rank, he could just give it to them arbitrarily.

Su Ming waved his hand, unconcerned. "Alright, stop spouting all this nonsense. Even if I don't know much about the military, I should know that a lieutenant general isn't something your Jiangcheng Military District can confer. I'm afraid even the Magic City Military District doesn't have that authority."

"I think you're a smart guy. You won't play dumb with me. With communications nationwide practically cut off and military districts everywhere clinging to power, who can you possibly represent? You're probably representing the people in power in the Jiangcheng Military District!"

"If you're truly so righteous, how come your army hasn't come to rescue these survivors all this time since the apocalypse? Even if you can't deploy soldiers en masse, someone should have come to slowly rescue them by sending helicopters. And yet, countless survivors have been killed and wounded, and you're claiming to be saving humanity?" Su Ming scoffed.

Not to mention the distant past, even the women in the hospital, if not for Su Ming's protection, would have either perished at the hands of zombies or been hiding in a corner, surviving, waiting for the food to run out and then starving to death.

Thus, Su Ming had always been deeply displeased with those who, from a supposedly moral standpoint, constantly talked about saving humanity and rescuing survivors. They clearly had the ability to rescue more survivors, but for their own selfish interests, they ignored the countless survivors who perished tragically at the hands of zombies.

Ye Feng's veins bulged on the back of his hand. He understood these issues, but now that Su Ming had laid them bare, he felt a pang of pain. "I'm sorry, the military district's decision isn't something a lieutenant colonel like me can make, but I can guarantee that within two days, helicopters will be in the city to rescue the survivors."

"Hehe... rescue survivors? I guess you're specifically searching for me..." Su Ming mercilessly exposed Ye Feng's lies.

Ye Feng was silent for a long time, then finally nodded. "I don't want to say anything else. Seeing you're sensible, leave now. Otherwise, if you stay here, I can't guarantee I won't take action." Su Ming had no aversion to Ye Feng, a pure soldier, so he had no intention of attacking him. Of course, he would leave tactfully in the future.

"If you, Mr. Su, are unwilling to accept the military district's appointment, then I have a favor to ask. I'm attracted to the female soldiers here..."

Seeing Su Ming's eyes grow hostile, even murderous, Ye Feng quickly explained, "Don't misunderstand me. I'm not talking about relationships. I think these female soldiers have excellent combat skills. With a little training, they'll become excellent fighters." "No need. With the Lord here, we don't need to go anywhere. We just hope your military district won't get its hands on us again..." Behind Ye Feng, a group of female soldiers galloped towards them from a distance, led by none other than Zhao Yanyan, who had been missing moments before.

The little girl's usually cute face now held a cold, distant expression. The female warriors behind her had just finished slaying zombies, many still covered in blood. Holding cold, long blades, a murderous aura washed over them.

Even Ye Feng, a man of unwavering resolve and having personally slain many zombies, couldn't help but marvel and feel a lingering fear. Several soldiers behind him retreated several steps, some even raising their weapons in anger, though Ye Feng quickly restrained them.

From several kilometers away, Zhao Yanyan and her companions spotted an attack helicopter heading toward the hospital and hurried back. Overhearing Ye Feng's words from a distance, their faces sullen, they immediately retorted.

Before and after Ye Feng and his group, hundreds of female warriors watched them with a mixture of hostility, vigilance, and indifference, as if they would pounce and kill them at the command of their master.

Even Ye Feng, a veteran of major battles, felt a chill run down his spine. Facing so many powerful female warriors, their limited firepower proved ineffective. Just the sight of the blades wielded by these newly arrived women was enough to make it clear they were no mere showpieces. Their soaring murderous aura and unwavering will were enough to render anyone retreat.

"Ye Feng, huh..."

"Yes," he said with a bitter smile.

"They're all my people here. I won't give up on any of them, so forget it. Go back and tell those people at the military district that I don't want to provoke them for now, but if they're looking for death, then I can't blame them for killing them."

"Don't question my resolve and ability... Do you understand, Lieutenant Colonel Ye Feng?" Facing Su Ming's aggressive attitude and blunt threats, Ye Feng remained silent. "I'll take your message back, but I can't stop the opinions of the military district's top brass..."

"It doesn't matter. Just get the message across..." Su Ming naturally understood the morals of those military officials, but he didn't care. Even if the military district didn't come, he would have gone there sooner or later. If they were looking for death, then no one else could be blamed.

Ye Feng nodded and turned to leave, but Su Qingge whispered something in his ear.

"Wait, Lieutenant Colonel Ye, would you mind doing me a small favor?"

"Of course, as long as it doesn't violate military discipline," Ye Feng agreed without a second thought.

"Okay... Qingqing, go gather all the maids..." Su Ming instructed Fang Qingqing.
