By the time Lana arrived at the university café, Nicholas was already seated, waiting for her.
He was sipping on his cup of coffee, legs crossed, phone in his hand as he waited, seeming completely lost in whatever he was staring at on his screen. So lost, he didn't notice Lana's arrival until she walked up to him and dropped her bag on the table, making enough sound to finally get his attention.
"Oh, you're here," he immediately sent his phone into his pocket. "You're early."
"You're earlier," she looked around her. "Were you close by before?"
"Yeah, I was here already when your text came in," he nodded. "I was about to call you when you texted. Coincidence?"
"Maybe," she replied dryly, then immediately went straight to the point, having no time to spare. "The pictures we postedâ€"well, it worked. The effects were just as we hoped . Alexander was pissed."
Nicholas raised an eyebrow, setting his coffee down slowly. "Of course he was. That was the point, wasn't it?"
