Chapter 52: using chaos of Dolores to sneak into Merlin's castle
After a day he was still exhausted but lasted slightly longer than last time. He returned back and started to rest again. But this time he did not take a sick leave instead he went to work normally to show that he is normal.
Naturally he is only of the suspicious people. He is the only other house elf that got sick other than Winky. The poison on Winky is strange and someone would keep an eye on him. Also they would keep an eye on the lake.
So he went out but no one would point at him during this time. Dobby simply had some good time and finally returned to rest and did his things normally for the coming days. It was till the full moon day again.
This time he developed a spell to search the surroundings. He used the spell from the hiding place. It would not show his hiding place instead it would only show that he is not present. At this moment the Hogwarts has already started and the commotion is quite big.
Dolores has come and there is good amount of friction between the teaching staff and the headmaster. So they cannot always keep their eyes on everyone. Dobby did not do anything to Dolores that fat pig.
This time there is no one guarding because the school is in chaos. Well you can say more orderly with many constraints. Dobby went to the lake in the middle of the night again and pushed the boat into the lake. When it reached the middle he simple entered Merlin's castle.
Naturally he covered his body with protection against poison but there are Dementors around. They cannot leave the barrier space. Yes there is a barrier around the castle and the lake. They cannot go out. This is like an independent space.
Dobby has applied an invisibility spell on the boat. So no one can see it or him that is in the invisibility cloak. He moved to the shore and put the boat at a specific place. If not even he cannot see it.
He then moved to the dungeon to the alchemy room. He is very careful and checked the surroundings. With the previous information he brought the instruments that can be used to remove the cob webs easily instead of using a stick.
Naturally the instrument makes sound but because of the silencing charm that was cast on it early it would not make sound. So just like that He walked all the way to the room where there is a big cauldron was arranged.
The room was very dark and filled with dense spider web so big that they can capture Dobby directly. Dobby doesn't want to waste time here. Before coming down he placed a special charm at the entrance that would dampen the commotion below.
This is the precaution so that the creatures above would not be attracted below to cause trouble after coming into the door Dobby directly took the wand to use a charm to remove all the dust and creatures in the room and send them out of the room.
The creatures in the room were caught off guard and they are all pushed out of the room directly. Then he put on few flame throwers at the entrance of the room to spray fire the moment they sense something coming close.
There are giant spiders as big as human beings but it can enter through the door of the alchemy room. But spiders fear fire. This place is not a flammable place. So Dobby brought over the flame throwers.
As long as there are any movements at the door the flame throwers would spray fire on the creatures. It is like how the snow balls shoot by themselves. It is a simple magic and Dobby arranged it and quickly went to the cauldron.
He doesn't have to clean it because the cauldron has self cleaning spell. He quickly followed the spell casting process from the scroll. As soon as he took the scroll the scroll floated in the air. Dobby quickly spoke the spell after taking out the ingredients.
With the spell the scroll directly got stuck to the cauldron and a strange phenomenon happened. The cauldron suddenly got on fire and the scroll burnt out. At the same time the ingredients started to fly into the cauldron on their own.
Dobby knows that he don't have to do anything here and wait for the entire process to complete. Till then he has to guard this place so that no creature would come in and disturb the process of making of the potion of purification.
Dobby that was free turned his attention to the door and started to shoot out some simple spells to kill those spiders. Yes flame throwers cannot completely stop them. They can only stop them temporarily.
So Dobby has to act as extra protection. The flame throwers are arranged only for the point of keeping the spiders busy till he completed the spell casting. Now that it is over he got into action directly.
Behind him the alchemy cauldron is stirring and there is strange mixture of smells that would make him change various emotions. After the first wave Dobby knows that there is a problem with the scene released from the cauldron.
So he used a special cloth to cover his nose and mouth quickly to keep sane. If not with emotional changes and mood swings he might become insane in just few minutes. He directly put on magic filters to filter the strange scent.
Time passed by second by second with the relentless attacks of those spiders. Yes the scent just now actually caused disturbances in them as well. They mindlessly came over to attack Dobby and break the cauldron.
It is like those insects come for the smell of chocolate. Dobby waited for full 5 minutes with desperate fighting.
