Space Marines mastering the Super Saiyan transformation?
The Super Saiyan transformation was not that simple. To achieve the Super Saiyan transformation, a Saiyan needed a sufficiently high count of S-Cells—cells that increased through intense battle training and a calm, gentler nature. Once they had amassed enough, an intense emotional surge like rage or despair could trigger the transformation. After achieving the form for the first time, a Saiyan with enough S-Cells and power could transform at will by focusing their energy into their back
It was a challenge of the highest order.
"That transformation isn't as easy as you think! Even a simplified version wouldn't work in my opinion. And those Space Marines don't even have ki in their bodies," Axis said to the Emperor.
"I know all that," the Emperor replied, "But when I was modifying you, I studied your cells in detail. Ki is vital to you, but those special cells–"
"S-cells."
"…Alright, S-cells contribute more to your physical body than to ki itself. In theory, my plan can work.
"More importantly, I discovered something strange. S-Cells seem to have a very high compatibility with humans. In fact, they appear to be even more suited to humans than to you."
In Axis's genetic makeup there was a natural wildness and fury, but S-Cells required absolute composure and reason to control, which made them extraordinarily compatible with human cells.
The Emperor had conducted experiments before. Normally, Axis's other cells were highly aggressive, assimilating any other cells entirely. S-Cells, however, were different, they chose to merge instead of destroy.
Upon hearing this, Axis fell silent.
The Emperor was not wrong—S-Cells did indeed have an unusually high compatibility with humans. For example, several half-Saiyans, especially Son Goten and Trunks, had been able to transform into Super Saiyans with ease at just six or seven years old.
This was because their fathers already possessed high reserves of S-Cells, while their human mothers' calmer nature had further harmonized those cells. As a result, they could transform into Super Saiyans even without rage.
Although Axis had S-Cells in his body before, they had been dormant and difficult to extract, becoming highly active only during the Super Saiyan transformation, at which point they filled every part of his body.
"So, what do you think of my proposal?" the Emperor asked.
"Shall we just test it out? I transform into Super Saiyan mode, and you extract the cells directly?" Axis asked.
"No. You must first maintain the Super Saiyan state for an entire month—whether eating or sleeping, you must stay transformed.
"With the metabolism of your boby, one month will bring the S-Cells in your body to their peak activity level. The older cells will be expelled, leaving us with the most concentrated S-Cells possible," the Emperor explained.
"Come on, maintaining Super Saiyan form is incredibly draining on stamina and mental energy. My mind will be severely taxed. I can stay transformed in daily life, but I can't keep it up while sleeping," Axis said, whining. Most importantly, he was itching to have some funsies with kasha after the intense strain on his body. He couldn't possibly do it while transformed.
He had previously maintained the form for extended periods to achieve Full-Power Super Saiyan, but doing it continuously for a month, even while asleep, as the Emperor suggested, sounded excessive.
How was he supposed to control his transformation while sleeping?
"Even in sleep, you should be able to maintain the state," the Emperor replied, "Your Catalepsean Node can let one hemisphere rest while the other controls the body. It's not that hard once you get used to it. Have you ever truly tested your body's potential?"
He hadn't, tried that. Not that he ever had even a reasonto try it before.
"…Alright. Let's give it a try," Axis said reluctantly.
"That's my boy." Axis couldn't be certain, but maybe, just maybe, the emperor was excited?
"..." Axis continued his meal, trying to avoid the Emperors Gaze. He couldn't.
"..." Kasha had already cleared the stage, leaving the father-in-law and son to their antics.
In the end, Axis, sighing asked, "Right now?"
"Right now!"
"..."
He transformed into Full-Power Super Saiyan mode, then, under the Emperor's guidance, began learning how to control his Catalepsean Node.
Within just a few days, Axis had mastered this state.
One half of his brain maintaining the Super Saiyan transformation through the night, while the other half rested.
It worked quite well. Axis could feel the burden of the transformation gradually easing, and even the consumption of ki had been reduced to a minimum. According to the Emperor, since ordinary humans had no ki, Axis needed to lower the S-Cells' dependence on it as much as possible.
Repeating the process day after day, Axis eventually reached the point where Full-Power Super Saiyan had become his default state.
Even though his brain rested in shifts, after a full month Axis still felt some fatigue.
But the benefits were undeniable, he had essentially spent an entire month dedicated solely to refining his Super Saiyan transformation.
The ordinary Super Saiyan form now consumed far less energy, and he had perfected his control over Super Saiyan 2.
A month later, the Emperor summoned Malcador, who personally took the role of apothecary.
Using tools forged from auramite, he successfully extracted Axis's cells.
Axis's body possessed extreme tough skin and tendons. Only by suppressing his ki to the bare minimum could a specially crafted, razor-sharp instrument pierce his skin to collect cells.
Once the S-Cells had been extracted, Axis finally let out a breath of relief and reverted to his normal state.
"I'm good right?. I'm going to rest. Three days of sleep should do it," Axis said with a yawn.
"No problem. Go on, boy. Three days from now, your gene-seeds should be fully cultivated," the Emperor replied with a nod.
After Axis left, the Emperor and Malcador immediately set to work on processing the cells.
The Emperor first produced a relic called the Primarch Blood Vault, which preserved the genetic samples of all twenty Primarchs plus Axis'.
Now, it would gain an additional vial to the twenty-first entry, Axis's Super Saiyan S-Cell sample.
"Isn't this the same thing we struggled to extract back then?" Malcador remarked in awe as he studied them, "Indeed, no matter how many times I study them, it's extraordinary nature never ceases to amaze me."
The sheer energy contained in a single cell was staggering.
Even the most basic activation could boost combat power fiftyfold, and further activation could reach a hundredfold, and this was not even the limit.
It was absurd. A normal man with a hundredfold increase in power could slaughter a Space Marine with ease.
"Indeed," the Emperor said, "but they have a clear weakness: the body must be able to withstand the amplification. If not, the ordinary cells will be destroyed as a reaction."
An unenhanced human body could not endure such a drastic increase, forget fifty or a hundredfold; even tenfold would cause complete cellular collapse, disintegration at the genetic level.
Only Saiyans, with their monstrous physical resilience, could bear such power.
The potential of these cells was virtually limitless.
As long as Axis's physical strength continued to grow, and his body could withstand the amplification, the enhancement could, in theory, continue without end.
"We'll need to dilute thor efficiency. A tenfold boost will be too much for an Astartes body to handle. I believe fivefold is the safe upper limit," Malcador said.
Space Marines were vastly stronger than normal humans, but even so, they had never been tested against a tenfold increase.
With their enhanced physique, Malcador estimated that fivefold was the ceiling.
"That's a maximum theoretical value," the Emperor replied, "We shouldn't make it the standard. In truth, a mere twofold enhancement would already be a massive gain for a Space Marine."
"Then let's set a safeguard," Malcador suggested, "In their initial form, a Space Marine could use these cells to double their strength. Any further increase would depend on their own talent, with a hard cap at fivefold."
After a moment's thought, the Emperor agreed.
This was the most prudent approach, fivefold as the absolute limit, twofold as the standard burst, and any development beyond that left to the individual.
Once they had finalized the details, the two began growing the gene-seeds form the genetic material.
Three days later, the culture vats yielded a batch of perfect gene seed templates.
These were flawless, untouched by even the slightest trace of Warp corruption, for they did not originate from the Warp at all.
"Excellent, indeed. I can hardly wait to begin with the surgeries," the Emperor said with excitement as he looked at the near-perfect templates.
This was the gene-seed he had always envisioned for the Space Marines, completely immune to the taint of Warp energy.
Russ has already agreed on having his son's gene-seed replaced with Axis's.
Starting from scratch would require six to ten years of work, so having an existing batch of Astartes willing to undergo modification was the ideal solution.
With the aggressive nature of Axis' gene seed, rewriting the genetic markup of an astrates wouldn't be an issue. And with the emperor and malcador present, the success rate would be a guaranteed 100%.
