Now, at Torren’s Academy for Mutants and Humans, sixteen-year-old Snow Arryn, a Telekinetic Mutant with a mysterious past, wants nothing more than to stay invisible. But when she crosses paths with Harden Lay, a strong Pyrokinetic Mutant from the ruling fire empire of Pyro and her sworn enemy, everything changes. The last thing she expected to do was to fall in love, especially with the wrong person. Harden harbors a dark secret and as earth edges closer to Annihilation, Snow finds herself caught between two impossible choices, save the world… or follow her heart into ruin. Because love wasn’t part of the plan. And Harden Lay was never supposed to be her weakness. --------- Author's note: The first few chapters of this novel will be descriptive, detailing Snow's journey and Arrival at the academy, but from then on, it will be very interesting and packed full with adventures and experiences.

CHAPTER 1

"Snow, get ready, the bus is gonna be here soon…"

Maya shouted from downstairs as her voice rang over the entire house. She moved hastily, packing up supplies in a bag, torch, chocolate bars, compass and other things one would need if they going camping, the only thing was that no one was going camping today.

"Snow!" She shouted again, louder, this time around, and in an instant l, Snow jolted from her bed, and in reaction to her movement, things in her room also went flying around and it became a mess.

"Ugh. Damn it." She muttered while she ran her fingers across her hair.

The door opened and Maya walked in, seeing the mess in the room, she had a pretty good idea what happened. But she doesn't address it.

"You're just waking up? Are you for real? The bus is going to be here anytime soon…it's almost time."She said with a long face.

"Alright alright, I'm coming."

"Be ready in five." Maya said as she walked out of the room.

Snow sighed as she came down from the bed and headed into the bathroom, with a few splashes of water on her face, she exited the bathroom.

After a while of ransacking her wardrobe, she eventually picked out a black dress. She stood in front of the mirror, taking a long look at her hair, every now and then, she tilting her head constantly, she was picking her look for today, smug uncaring teenager or scared teenager? Which one would be better if she wanted to lay low. Eventually she decided on neither, she just going to be…normal.

She swirled her hand, slowly and carefully and the air brush on the table slowly floated up to her hair.

"Carefully…nice and slo–" she whispered, just right before he brush dropped on the ground.

"Damn it!"

She sighed as she picked io the brush and ran it through her hair like every other normal person would.

Snow is a sixteen year old telekinesis mutant, she had been born into a world rupted with paranoia. After the visit of the alien race that brought the bad news of earth being marked for trial by The Annihilator.

These beings brought a gift with them, a gift that would now help humans fight and defend their planet. This gift rewrote the human DNA, awakening special abilities. But with this gift came multiple responsibilities. One of which required four years of your life.

Now every person with the ability has to undergo series of training, specifically at Torren's Academy once they clock sixteen years of age. Today is the day Snow would leave for the academy. She doesn't want to. No one ever did but they had no choice.

"Don't just stand there like a stalker." Snow muttered as she brushed her hair like her life depended on it.

Maya stepped in as she grabbed the brush from her and began helping her. Maya is her mother.

She didn't say anything, she just brushed. She kept doing it until it got to a point where Snow couldn't take it anymore.

"I don't wanna go." Her eyes git teary at this point but she tried to stop it. Before her mum could respond, she interrupted her.

"I know you're gonna say, 'I have to go' but honestly, do I?"

"Yes, you have to, that fate of the world depends on it."

"The fate of the world," She chuckled in amusement. "What has the fate of the world got to do with one sixteen year old? Snow asked. "I'm sure the would would do just fine without me."

"Don't say that, you are meant to do great things, Snow. And you would."

"I can't even control my powers properly, I'm a mess. I'm a nobody." Snow said looking down at her feet.

"That's why you're going to Torren's Academy, there you'll learn to control and increase your powers. You're not a nobody, you are Snow Arryn."

Snow smiled for a moment before it faded when the sound of a vehicle pulled up in front of the house.

"It's time." Maya said as she placed the brush down.

Maya walked away leaving Snow all to herself. Her eyes looked a bit puffy but she knew she needed to suck it up if she wants to make this work.

All her life she's lived with her mother, it's been just them after her father died, leaving to start a new life somewhere else seemed like a whole ordeal, an ordeal she wasn't sure she was ready to face. But she doesn't have choice in the matter.

That leaders of the world made it imperative that every mutant attend an academy when they turned sixteen, they were to train and study for four years before they graduate and decide what line of work suits them most. But it all comes down to one goal and one goal alone, the survival of the planet.

Snow packed her hair into a ponytail, after a while of brushing it she just packed it in a ponytail, brushing her hair wasn't easy at all considering she had very wild hair.

As soon as she was done, she walked out and headed downstairs, she saw her mum packing things in a bag and she raised her brow.

"You do know that I'm not allowed to carry anything else but my clothes."

Her mum had a surprised and stressed look on her face when she had the realization.

"I thought you attended the academy when you were a teenager?" Snow asked.

"I did, I thought things might have changed by now. I guess I was wrong."

Just then, the front door opened and a man wearing a military uniform stepped in. Snow swallowed my as she stepped back a little. Her mother gestured for her to walk forward.

"It's okay love." She whispered.

"Snow Arryn," the man's voice came, it was loud, really loud.

"Get moving! Torren waits for no one." He ordered and it was as if he had an ability to control people, Snow's legs moved forward on its own.

"What the hell?" She whispered under her breath.

Her legs moved on it's own and no matter what she tried to do, she couldn't regain control, she couldn't control her own limbs, what kind of ability was that? She wondered. Whatever it is, it's very dangerous. Imagine this kind of power in the wrong hands.

One minute she was in her living room and in the next, she was standing in front of the bus and in that instant, she stumbled but she managed to get a hold of herself at the last minute. She had regained control of her legs.

"Well, I feel violated." she muttered as she looked at the man behind her, he just stared at her and she felt like he was staring right into her soul.

'I better move before he does that thing again' she thought but as she was about to step inside the bus, she remembered something, she hasn't said goodbye to her mum, she looked back at the house, she stared at her mum and she stared back at the man.

Still contemplating on whether she should go back or not she saw a tear slipped from her mother's eye and she ran back inside and hugged her. They both held each other tight for a little while before breaking the hug.

"See you in four years mum."

Maya chuckled.

"Go get 'em."

Snow wondered why they made it a rule that you can't see your parents until you've graduated, visitation isin't allowed, contact with the outside world wasn't also allowed, it was cruel.

Snow turned back and headed over to the bus, this time, she did so on her own free will, nobody controlling her or anything. She sighed as the door opened and she stepped in. The loud chatter in the was stopped in an instant as heads turned and before she could blink, every eyes in the bus was on her.

She froze, she couldn't move, not really, it was as if someone he had taken control of her body again but that wasn't the case.

Everybody's eyes went back to their previous views and the chatter returned back and Snow's movement also retuned. She made her way slowly over to the back seat.

She found an empty seat and she sat down.

Her life was going to change the moment she stepped foot inside the bus and she knew it. The chatter in the bus was loud and continuous, it was almost defeaning bit she didn't mind it.

She saw how everyone spoke to each other and she felt a little bit left out. She never really had friends growing up.

'Maybe making friends should be something i should look forward to at Torren's' she thought to herself.

'Maybe this wouldn't be so bad'

She looked out the window and she saw her mum. The bus engine roared to life and it slowly started moving. She placed her hands on the window and took one last before at her mother before the bus departed and her small house disappeared right in front her, along with her mum.
