Chapter 4 - Awake

"Thank you, Grandpa."

"We're family, no need to be so polite," the old man replied, waving his hand. "Now go take care of Cassius."

Nevaeh Huck nodded and turned to leave.

"Did you see that?" After Nevaeh left, the old man watched her figure and asked.

Hussein turned his head and spoke respectfully, "The young lady has dark circles under her eyes. It looks like she stayed up all night taking care of Cassius."

"Yes, she's a good kid," the old man sighed. "It's unfortunate for her, but from now on, she'll be the one calling the shots in this house."

"Understood!"

Meanwhile, in Cassius Bennett's room...

A woman in a tight red dress walked in, standing beside the bed as she stared at Cassius's insanely handsome face.

She gently lifted her hand and brushed her fingers against his cheek.

"Cassius, please wake up. Out of all the men I've met, I still think you're the best…"

As she spoke, the woman leaned down, moving closer and closer to Cassius's lips.

Right when their lips were about to touch, a deep and clear voice suddenly shattered the silence.

The woman gasped, jumping back from the bed, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at Cassius Bennett, who was now awake.

A moment later, Cassius slowly opened his eyes.

Everything in the room went from blurry to sharp, and when his vision focused on the woman in front of him, his voice was low but serious.

"Did you save me?"

Elizabeth Brown froze. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

At first, she shook her head without thinking, then quickly nodded instead.

She rushed forward and hugged Cassius tightly.

"It's me, Cassius! Thank goodness you're awake!"

Right at that moment, Nevaeh Huck walked into the room. As soon as she stepped in, she was greeted by that scene.

She instantly felt like she had just walked in on something she shouldn't have, and she hesitated, taking a small step back.

But then she saw the wedding decorations on the wall and remembered, she was his wife. With that thought, she straightened up and walked in, clearing her throat.

The two immediately separated. The woman in red gave Nevaeh a sharp glare before running out shyly.

Nevaeh didn't really care. But suddenly, she felt a cold stare burning into her.

She turned and saw Cassius looking at her with eyes as dark as a storm.

His gaze was sharp and filled with rage, like she had done something horribly wrong.

She blinked, confused.

Wasn't he the one cozying up to another woman just now?

Why was he looking at her like she was the problem?

"You're awake."

"Who are you?"

Their voices overlapped. Both froze for a second.

Right then, Hussein walked in, and the awkward air broke.

"Young master, you're finally awake!" he shouted with joy.

Hearing that, people came rushing into the room until it was packed full.

After checking on Cassius, the doctor reported excitedly to the elder,

"It's a miracle! Truly unbelievable. All of Cassius's functions are back to normal. He should fully recover soon."

No one was happier than the old man. After three whole years, his grandson had finally opened his eyes.

He held Cassius's hand tight, tears in his eyes.

"It's so good to see you awake! Grandpa's so happy. Just like the master said, giving you that joyful blessing really saved you."

"Joyful blessing?" Cassius's voice was low and filled with sarcasm.

"Yes," the old man replied, turning toward Nevaeh Huck, who was standing quietly to the side. He smiled.

"This is your new wife, Nevaeh Huck."

"Nevaeh, you saved Cassius. You are now the Bennett family's greatest benefactor."

With that, the old man took Nevaeh's hand and tried to place it into Cassius's.

But just before their hands could touch, Cassius's expression turned ice cold.

He yanked his hand away in disgust, his voice like a sharp blade as he said just one word—

"Get lost."
