A whirlwind of slashes instantly engulfed Jinpachi's body, striking him hundreds of times per second. Although his body was constantly regenerating, Kusuo's attack speed far surpassed his recovery rate. Under this terrifying assault, Jinpachi's body finally began to disintegrate.
Seeing him vanish completely, Natsuhi breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry, Lord Kusuo. It was my uselessness that caused you so much trouble."
Seeing her self-reproachful expression, Kusuo helped her to her feet. "It's not your fault. The problem here is solved. We should leave quickly."
Kusuo knew the Mizukage's habits well. If trouble arose here, reinforcements would arrive soon. Though he didn't fear them, Natsuhi's body was in no condition to fight. The reason he kept her by his side was because he hoped to recruit a powerful warrior like her into his ranks. If she were to fight again in her current state, she might very well die.
"Rest and regulate your body here for a bit," Kusuo said before walking over to where Jinpachi's remains lay. After the battle, his body was in pieces, but the Blastsword, Shibuki, lay quietly on the ground. Kusuo picked it up and slung it onto his back.
"Lord Kusuo, is there something special about that sword?" Natsuhi asked, her face full of curiosity. Despite the intense battle, she still didn't understand the secret of the Blastsword.
"You'll learn about these things in time," Kusuo said, his gaze turning towards the Land of Water. "It seems our mission won't be as easy as we thought."
"Why do you say that?" Natsuhi asked, confused.
"From the enemies we've faced so far, it's clear the Mizukage already knows about our movements." Kusuo knew that if the Mizukage hadn't been prepared, they wouldn't have faced so many attacks. Still, she had yet to send an opponent worthy of his attention. Even if the Mizukage herself appeared, Kusuo wasn't sure he would consider her a threat.
"This will be good training for you. Do you have the confidence to help me kill the Mizukage?" Kusuo asked, looking at Natsuhi with a serious expression. She nodded blankly.
"Since you're ready, let's set off."
By now, Natsuhi's body had recovered somewhat. Though her injuries weren't fully healed, her chakra had returned. They immediately set off in a discreet direction.
"Lord Kusuo, is it possible our movements were leaked by someone else?" Natsuhi asked nervously. "But I swear it wasn't me. Ever since I knew we were acting together, I haven't told a soul about this mission."
Hearing this, Kusuo was taken aback for a moment, then smiled faintly. "Of course I know it has nothing to do with you." He knew Natsuhi would never betray him.
"But if our plans were leaked, who could it have been?" Natsuhi rarely left her village, and her missions had never been compromised before.
"We still need to investigate this matter. When we find out, someone will inform me," Kusuo said.
"Was it that person we met before?" Natsuhi immediately regretted her words. During her time with Kusuo, she had often seen Kuroko and the others. Hearing him mention the Demon Slayer Corps, she understood that they must have a deep connection to it.
"Don't worry about these things for now."
"But Lord Kusuo, shouldn't we first find out who the traitor is?"
Kusuo shook his head. "This mission came from information Kuroko received from Konoha and passed on to me. If the information was truly leaked, it must have been by someone high up in the village."
Kusuo was well aware that although he was powerful, Hinata and Shion were still in the village. More importantly, Hinata's Hyuga clan was under the protection of Konoha.
