Beads of sweat began to form on Sakura's forehead. Kusuo appeared at her side in an instant. "How is she?"
Sakura didn't answer, her attention still focused on Hinata, the chakra in her hands not weakening but intensifying. "Hmm? How can..."
Kusuo looked at Hinata with concern. "There's nothing wrong with her eyes, so how can this be?"
When Sakura's chakra touched the black energy, the dark aura would immediately dodge to the side. "I'm sorry, Lord Kusuo. I can't determine what's wrong with Hinata."
Just then, the door to the office was suddenly pushed open. "Quick... Sakura... th-there's trouble!"
Kusuo turned to see a panting Choji. He was covered in injuries. "How did this happen?" Kusuo's voice rang out.
Choji looked at him with surprise, then sighed in relief. "The Eight-Tails, Gyuki. It's outside the village."
Kusuo frowned and patted Sakura's shoulder. "Look after Hinata for me." His body instantly vanished from the office.
Just outside the Leaf Village, a powerful chakra permeated the air. Many of the village's Jonin were already gathered at the gate.
"Lord Kusuo is here!" Hearing his name, the Konoha ninja's morale soared. Kusuo paid them no mind and charged straight out.
Gyuki was rampaging right at the village entrance. This time, Obito was not present. Kusuo narrowed his eyes and drew his sword. "Sun Breathing! Fire Wheel!"
Just as Gyuki was about to counter, a wave of flames engulfed it, sending it flying. "ROAR!" it bellowed to the sky.
"Still not enough? You're asking for it." With that, Kusuo flickered forward. BOOM! With another powerful strike, Gyuki's body was slammed heavily into the ground.
"Sun Breathing!" An overwhelming storm of sword slashes engulfed Gyuki's body. After the assault, Gyuki finally collapsed.
"Great!" "Thank you, Lord Kusuo!"
Gyuki's body began to shrink, and a stream of blue chakra dissipated into the air. "Hmm?" Kusuo watched this with a puzzled expression but said nothing.
"Lord Kusuo." A figure suddenly appeared. Ibiki Morino knelt before him. "Lord Kusuo. We found a figure in the forest."
Kusuo instantly understood. Someone had been controlling all of this from a distance. "Send men immediately to investigate what's going on."
"Yes, Lord Kusuo." At his command, a dozen figures shot into the forest. Kusuo, however, remained where he was, silently observing.
Gyuki's body had now fully reformed into a human shape. "Killer B?" Kusuo flew down to check and found a mysterious talisman drawn on his chest. He reached out and carefully sensed the power within it. He realized that this energy was almost identical to the power within Hinata's eyes.
"Nagato." Kusuo instantly knew that if Obito wasn't behind this, then it was Nagato. The two of them were definitely involved.
"Lord Kusuo." Ibiki and his men returned, but their expressions were tense. "What is it?" Kusuo asked coldly.
"My apologies, my lord. The person was already gone when we arrived."
Hearing this, Kusuo frowned, about to complain, when Kuroko suddenly rushed over anxiously. "Lord Kusuo, Lady Hinata's eyes..." Kuroko stammered, afraid to speak.
The moment Kusuo heard something was wrong with Hinata, he panicked. But with so many people around, he forced himself to remain calm. "What's the situation?"
"Lady Hinata's eyes are bleeding. We don't know what's happening."
"What?" Kusuo was instantly enraged. With a flicker, he was at Hinata's side. Blood was indeed streaming from the corners of her eyes.
"Hinata?" he called out tentatively.
Hinata's eyes were filled with panic as she reached out, grasping at the air. "What in the world is going on?" In the entire Leaf Village, was there no one who could help her?
"Big Sister Hinata." Shion came to her side, her expression immediately becoming grave. "It's a curse technique."
Kusuo carefully sensed the power in Hinata's pupils. The feeling was very familiar—it was Nagato's Rinnegan.
"This is a curse that can absorb Big Sister Hinata's power and strengthen the user," Shion explained.
Hearing this, Kusuo's anger grew. He had thought that by letting Obito quickly gather the chakra to summon the Demonic Statue, things would proceed smoothly. He never expected so many complications.
"Big Brother Kusuo, if this continues, Big Sister Hinata's eyes... will go blind."
Hearing this, Kusuo clenched his fists. The only way to help Hinata now was to give her a new pair of eyes. After a long moment of hesitation, Kusuo finally took out the pair of Rinnegan.
"Shion, take this and the Heart of Gelel. Help Hinata get a new pair of eyes."
Shion trembled for a moment before accepting the two items.
Throughout the long night, Kusuo stood guard by Hinata's side. Shion and Sakura, using the power of the Heart of Gelel and Sakura's medical ninjutsu, finally managed to completely heal Hinata's eyes.
The next morning.
Sunlight streamed into the room. Everyone was exhausted from the all-night ordeal and had fallen asleep in the room.
"Kusuo-kun?" The moment Hinata opened her eyes, she began to call his name.
"Hmm?" Although Kusuo was leaning against the door, he immediately got up and rushed into the room at the sound of her voice. "Hinata? Are you okay?"
Hinata stared at him blankly, then blinked. The eyes that had once been hers now had traces of black energy in them and had begun to wither.
"Ah?!" Seeing this, Hinata let out a terrified scream and threw herself into Kusuo's arms. "What's wrong?"
The others in the room, woken by the sound, also opened their eyes. Hinata's pure white Byakugan had been replaced with a pair of Rinnegan.
"It's okay. Your eyes were cursed by Nagato before. The problem has been dealt with now."
