"I'm fine. I'm sorry, but if you don't mind, could you please let me rest here for a bit?" Tsukishiro Liu gently shook her head, signaling Wise not to worry. But when she turned to walk, she nearly bumped into the counter.
How could Wise not be worried? He immediately stepped forward again, supporting Liu's arm while trying to persuade her. "Miss Liu, you're pushing yourself too hard right now. Why don't I help you inside to rest for a bit?"
Liu seemed to realize this and stopped refusing, simply nodding with a faint blush. Feeling Wise supporting her, Liu felt an inexplicable sense of security. She had felt this with her teammates in Section 6 before, but this feeling was different. It was like Section Chief Miyabi gave her a sense of security through her immense strength, whereas the feeling she got from Wise was a sense of security she could rely on.
Since returning from that place and becoming the de-facto head of Section 6, where she had to worry about almost everything, Liu hadn't experienced this feeling for a long time.
After being helped to the sofa, Liu expressed her gratitude. "Thank you. I'm sorry to trouble you."
"It's no trouble. But more importantly, why did you end up like this, Miss Liu? Are you okay? Do you need me to call someone to pick you up?" Wise took out his phone. He wanted to contact Soukaku, but remembering she was still a child, calling her would probably just make her panic. Besides her, the only other person he could contact was Hoshimi Miyabi, who had just left...
But just then, Tsukishiro Liu waved her hand. "It's fine, it's just low blood sugar. I'll be fine after having something sweet."
"Is that so? Then please wait a moment." Wise wasn't entirely convinced, but he still got up to get something for her to eat. Just then, Belle came out of the kitchen.
"Did I hear someone say low blood sugar? Would you like some red bean buns? I just bought them today." Belle walked over quickly and placed the plate in her hand on the table. Seeing her favorite sweet treat, Liu subconsciously swallowed.
But while she was engrossed in eating the red bean bun, Belle was whispering to Wise on the side. "Brother, what's the situation? Wasn't it Miss Miyabi who was just here? How did it change to another girl in the blink of an eye?"
Belle looked suspiciously from Tsukishiro Liu to Wise, her eyes seeming to say that her understanding of her brother's capabilities had been refreshed once again. Wise quietly explained the situation, and an understanding look appeared in Belle's eyes.
"So she's the woman who props up all of Section 6 by herself."
"Uh, well, you're not wrong, but..." It felt a bit inappropriate to say it so directly.
Wise was about to say this, but seeing Tsukishiro Liu stop after eating a few red bean buns, he held his tongue.
"Thank you both for your hospitality. I'm feeling much better now." Tsukishiro Liu seemed much more energetic than before. At least she wouldn't have episodes of blindness and be unable to see the road.
"You're welcome, it's what we should do." Wise said politely, and Tsukishiro Liu's affection rose to 65. She had originally wanted to repay him for Soukaku often freeloading here, but now she had received his help again. Right, this is a video store. Maybe I should get a membership card before I leave?
Thinking this, Liu casually voiced a question that had been on her mind. "Mhm, speaking of which, this red bean bun tastes very familiar. Was it bought at XXX?"
"Yeah! I saw it when I was passing by earlier. There weren't many left, and I thought they would be delicious, so I bought all the remaining ones." Belle said with a smile, an expression that said, I'm amazing, right? Praise me! She didn't notice Tsukishiro Liu's face stiffen slightly, but Wise sensed something was amiss.
"Miss Liu, is something wrong?"
Hearing Wise's words, Tsukishiro Liu snapped back to her senses. "No, it's nothing. I was just thinking about how when I went to buy red bean buns earlier, the owner told me they were all sold out."
Liu said this with a smile, but Wise had a different feeling after hearing it. He had coincidentally bought all the melons Hoshimi Miyabi wanted, and his sister had bought all the red bean buns Tsukishiro Liu wanted. Should this be called a coincidence? Or an ill-fated connection?
Belle also clearly realized what had happened and felt a bit awkward, but at this point, there wasn't much to say. Tsukishiro Liu also realized she had misspoken and didn't bring it up again. After chatting for a bit more and feeling that she had mostly recovered, she prepared to leave. Before going, she didn't forget to rent a few videotapes and get a membership card, which she could watch when she had free time—though she probably wouldn't have much.
"Miss Liu, are you sure you'll be okay going back by yourself? Should I have my brother walk you?" Belle said, nudging Wise beside her. He seemed to have the same idea. It really wasn't right to let someone who had almost fainted just a while ago go home by herself.
Tsukishiro Liu initially wanted to refuse, but after thinking about it, she finally nodded. She could also feel that her condition wasn't great. If she insisted on going back alone, there might really be a problem. Having someone trustworthy with her would be safer.
"Mhm, then I'll have to trouble you."
"It's no trouble. After all, you're a super member of our store, so it's normal to get special treatment. Go on, brother."
Urged by Belle, Wise accompanied Tsukishiro Liu out of the video store and towards the station in Sixth Street. The silence between them on the way was a bit awkward, so Wise had to bite the bullet and start talking about Soukaku. Sure enough, the moment he brought her up, Tsukishiro Liu became engrossed in the conversation.
The way they walked and talked resembled a married couple discussing their child's performance. The harmonious scene even made passersby turn their heads to look. However, as they neared the station, Wise noticed that Tsukishiro Liu's face had turned a little pale again. It seemed a few red bean buns weren't enough.
The latter didn't show her weakness, but Wise couldn't pretend he didn't see it. He took matters into his own hands, reached out, and supported her shoulder again. Liu was slightly taken aback by this.
