Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Do You Also Want to Sing of Youth?

Familiar ceiling~

Back in my own little room, watching the countdown timer once again, Bai Mo instinctively glanced at the space within his Divine Eye.

What had once been a storage space of over a thousand cubic meters was now half-filled. Purchased supplies took up about half, while the rest consisted of two Aptonoth he had secretly hunted during the last few hours before leaving.

Aptonoth meat wasn't bad—it was quite tasty, in fact, and packed with energy. Bai Mo had already decided it would be his staple food for the foreseeable future!

The best part was that Aptonoth reproduced quickly. The Ancient Forest had hundreds of herds, large and small, so losing a few wouldn't make a difference.

By the time Bai Mo stepped out of his room again, Kasugano Sora had already changed into her school uniform and was standing in front of him.

"Onii-chan? What's wrong?" Sora tilted her head, studying Bai Mo curiously.

She couldn't shake the feeling that the way he had just looked at her was like they hadn't seen each other in a long time.

But hadn't they just been together earlier?

Stupid onii-chan, barging into a lady's room like that and seeing her all sleepy and disheveled!

Hmph! Next time—next time, I'll wake up before you do!

As she made this silent vow, Sora brushed off the strange look Bai Mo had given her.

Maybe it was just her imagination.

Meanwhile, Bai Mo decided he should probably keep a memo in his storage space.

With all these worlds and events piling up, he might end up forgetting something important when he returned.

Better to write things down—after all, the palest ink was better than the best memory.

Wait…

What was he supposed to do in this world again?

Frowning, he pondered for a few minutes before finally sitting down at the dining table.

Well, no matter.

First, breakfast.

After finishing their meal, Bai Mo noticed the neatly packed lunch boxes in the kitchen.

"Oh right, Sora, I made your bento. Don't forget to take it later."

Hearing this, Sora walked into the kitchen and stared at the two large three-tiered boxes in disbelief.

"Onii-chan… are both of these for me?"

"Ah, one of them is mine!"

"But even one is way too much for me!" Sora pouted. "Even though your cooking is amazing~"

"You just made a new friend, right? Akarin? You can share it with her."

"Hmph, no way! I want to eat all of onii-chan's cooking by myself!"

"Then you're gonna end up stuffed."

Once the lunch discussion was settled, Bai Mo changed into his uniform and prepared to take Sora to school.

After their usual farewell at the school gates, Bai Mo didn't head straight to his own school. Instead, he made a phone call.

Half an hour later, at a large slaughterhouse in Shinjuku, Bai Mo met a sun-tanned, provocatively dressed gyaru.

"Hello, Bai Mo-san. I'm Hujou Ikumi, sent by the Director to assist you."

"Thanks. I need you to analyze the composition of this meat and check for any pathogens."

"Understood. Leave it to me!" Ikumi took the cooler from Bai Mo and instinctively asked, "What kind of meat is this? Beef? Or something else?"

"Dragon meat," Bai Mo replied with a grin. "Want to try some?"

"Dragon meat?" Ikumi frowned slightly.

In her expert opinion as a meat specialist, Bai Mo's so-called "dragon meat" was probably crocodile, flying dragon bird (a type of game bird in Chinese cuisine), or maybe even donkey meat.

She didn't think much of it.

After handing over the samples for testing, Bai Mo felt relieved that the ingredients he had brought out so far didn't seem to carry any otherworldly viruses.

But the prehistoric world of Monster Hunter was a different story—who knew what kind of pathogens those creatures carried that modern humans couldn't handle?

By the time Bai Mo finished his errands and rode his motorcycle to Sakuragaoka High, he was, unsurprisingly, late.

Standing at 185 cm tall and towering over his bike, Bai Mo looked every bit the delinquent.

The security guard on duty didn't even bother approaching him, simply calling out, "Call your homeroom teacher to come get you."

Well then.

Late on the second day of school and already caught. Bai Mo could already picture Kirisu's furious face.

And sure enough, reality didn't disappoint.

After calling Kirisu Shihou and explaining the situation, it didn't take long for her to appear at the school gates in her crisp uniform.

Apologizing to the guard, she quickly ushered Bai Mo inside.

Once they parked the motorcycle in the school garage, Kirisu turned to him with a stern look.

"So, Bai Mo-kun, was there some kind of emergency today?"

"Yeah, you could say that." Bai Mo nodded. "After dropping off my sister, I had some business to discuss with the Mizuno Group under the Totsuki conglomerate."

He pulled out his phone and showed Kirisu his chat logs with Hujou Ikumi.

All the lectures she had prepared—about studying hard to secure a good future—died in her throat.

What had she been thinking?

Study hard to get a good job?

Bai Mo was already way past needing to work a normal job!

Not just anyone could have dealings with the Totsuki Group or do business with the Mizuno Corporation.

Seeing Kirisu's conflicted expression, Bai Mo chuckled.

"Relax, Kirisu-sensei. To you, I'm still just a student. I came to this school to enjoy student life, after all. For ordinary people, these might be the best years of their lives, don't you think?"

"You also want to sing of youth?"

"No, absolutely not! Improper relationships are strictly forbidden!"

"Hah?"
