Chapter 13 - Chapter 11: Echoes of Silence

Chapter Quote:

"Sometimes the loudest echoes come from the silence we choose to keep."

Scene 1: Art studio — Leo's solitude

[Leo's POV – Internal monologue]

The unfinished portrait stares back at me — Amara's eyes full of hope, yet shadowed with doubt. Nina's presence lingers in every corner of my mind, like a whispered secret I'm too afraid to speak aloud. Six months since that promise to Zara — a promise I made in a different life, before this tangled web of love became my prison.

Amara

(softly) Leo? You're here, but you're not really here. What's on your mind?

Leo

(voice strained) I feel torn in two, Amara. I want to be with you, yet Nina's ghost is always there, haunting every breath.

Amara

(stepping closer, reaching for his hand) Then let's stop pretending. Speak what's real, Leo.

Scene 2: Café — Nina's quiet despair

[Nina's POV – Internal monologue]

Holding his letter feels like clutching a dying flame. His words—soft, but never enough—promise a future that excludes me. How long before the truth burns the last spark between us?

Nina

(whispers to herself) Maybe some loves aren't meant to last. But how do you let go of a fire you still feel burning inside?

Scene 3: Zara's apartment — Conflicted heart

[Zara's POV – Internal monologue]

Six months ago, he proposed. After meeting them. Was I ever truly the one? Or just the placeholder until his heart was free to chase the impossible?

Zara

(muttering) I need answers. I deserve answers.

[Her phone buzzes. A message from Leo: "I'm here. Let's talk."]

Scene 4: Leo's phone buzzes — The unresolved call

Leo

(staring at the message) Another conversation that could either mend or break everything

Scene 5: A Rooftop Bar – Nightfall draped in confusion

(Nina and Amara sit across from each other for the first time since the silence between them began. The rooftop is dim, candle-lit, as if the universe itself is holding its breath.)

[Nina's POV – Internal Monologue]

There she is. The girl who haunts Leo's mind. The one whose name lives in his hesitation. But I can't hate her. Not when I see the sadness clinging to her like a perfume she never asked to wear.

Nina

(quietly) Do you love him?

Amara

(without blinking) I never stopped.

Nina

(voice trembling) Then why does he still look for me in the silence?

[Nina's POV – Flashback: The night Leo first touched her hand]

He didn't say "I love you." He just stared at me like I was the only answer he'd been afraid to believe. I wanted to be that answer. But answers aren't always enough.

Scene 6: Leo's Car — Rain outside, war inside

(Leo drives through a silent street, windshield wipers ticking like a metronome of guilt. Amara's voice lingers. Nina's scent still lives on his jacket. Zara's message waits in his inbox.)

[Leo's POV – Internal Monologue]

Zara… the one I promised a future I never gave. Nina… the fire I couldn't hold without burning. Amara… the home I can't stop returning to. Three women. One love story too tangled to name.

(His phone rings. It's Zara. He doesn't answer.)

Leo

(to himself) I built a bridge out of broken promises. Now I'm the one stuck in the middle.

Scene 7: Zara's living room – Memory and resentment meet

(Zara stares at the engagement ring in a box she never returned. She presses it into her palm until her skin aches.)

[Zara's POV – Internal Monologue]

He proposed after he met them. Not before. After. That changes everything. Or maybe it confirms what I already knew. That I was never the first choice. Just the safest one.

Zara

(to herself) A man can love three women at once. But not equally. Never equally.

Scene 8: Midnight — Nina's apartment

(Nina watches an old video on her phone — Leo laughing, her smiling beside him. Her eyes fill with unshed tears.)

[Nina's POV – Internal Monologue]

They keep saying he's not mine. But how do you erase a person who became your pulse? How do you forget someone who painted your silence in color?

(Her phone lights up: No message. Just hope playing cruel tricks.)

Scene 9: Amara's bedroom — Facing herself

(Amara stares into her mirror. A sketchbook lies open on her bed — Leo's face drawn a hundred ways. Each one incomplete.)

[Amara's POV – Internal Monologue]

Guilt is a strange companion. It doesn't scream. It whispers. It tells you, over and over, that maybe love isn't enough if someone else's heart is still bleeding in his shadow.

Amara

(softly, to her reflection) If he still loves her… and if she still waits for him… what does that make me?

Scene 10: Final scene — A silent group text

(Leo sends one message in a group chat he never meant to create.)

Leo's Message:

"I need to speak to all of you. Tomorrow. 7 PM. One room. No running."
