"Stop the car," I said, my voice calm despite the adrenaline still coursing through me.
Nathaniel gave me a sharp look. "What?"
"I need to go back." I met his gaze without flinching. "Wind is still out there."
"The stable hands will find him," Nathaniel replied, his jaw clenched tight.
I shook my head. "I can't leave him. Gavin hurt him because of me."
The car had slowed but not stopped. Nathaniel studied my face, then sighed and tapped on the partition. "Take us back to the edge of the field. Not all the way to the stables."
As we turned around, I collected my thoughts. Gregory's revelation about Mrs. Johnson potentially being my mother still echoed in my mind, but I couldn't focus on that now. Wind needed me.
When we arrived, I saw Gavin still standing there with Liam and Imogen, their heads bent together in urgent conversation. Imogen's friends hovered nearby, shooting venomous glances in our direction.
"Stay in the car," Nathaniel ordered as he opened his door.
