Esther gasped and grabbed his sleeve.
"No, please don't. I want to take revenge myself. I won't deny that I will need your help but let me kill them just like they did."
Luxion looked into her eyes, searching.
"Have you ever even killed... a bird? A fly? An animal?" he asked softly.
Esther shook her head, frowning slightly. "Why would I?"
Luxion stared at her in silence. His mind whispered: So innocent. So pure.
How can someone like her carry out a revenge soaked in blood?
He smiled gently.
My wife is so sweet... even the Devil has fallen for her softness
"Then... let me help you, alright?" he said with a teasing glint in his eyes. His smile turned slightly wicked. Esther shivered.
"...O-Okay," she whispered.
"Why is your family like that?" Luxion asked, voice now laced with both curiosity and scorn.
Esther lowered her gaze.
"Because I'm dumb. My sisters are smart. Elegant. Perfect. Whether it's etiquette, academics, or duties as a princess... they excel. I always struggled to keep up."
"Just because of this?" Luxion's voice sharpened like an unsheathed blade.
"No..." she paused, biting her lip. "They used to scold me a lot when I was little... say I was worthless. At first, it was just harsh words and isolation. But then came the beatings. The real change happened on my thirteenth birthday..."
Her voice trembled.
"It was raining heavily during that day. It was unusual to rain that day. Many places were affected with flood and few were destroyed by lightening. After that day the weather continued getting worse and occasionally it used to cause lots of damage. Then, the mysterious plague spread. No one knows its cure. Nor were they able to find it. Everyone blamed me. They said I was cursed princess who brought forth calamity on her birthday."
"Am I... unlucky?" she whispered, barely breathing.
Luxion sighed. That was too cruel. What kind of parents abandon their own child over mere superstition?
"As I said, parental love is the purest form of the love. They shouldn't be biased towards their kids. It's such a pity that such stuffs are still continuing. A cruel mindset is dangerous. Don't worry, they will end up in hell. And as rulers of hell, we will give them a cruel punishments beyond their comprehension." Luxion smiled evilly.
Esther sighed. She can't think of negative things. She has already decided to take the revenge. She trusted them, begged for their love but they killed her brutally. Their own flesh and blood. But no more of this, she finally saw their true face. They never loved her. She wasn't perfect like her sister so for them she was useless.
Esther was pulled out of thoughts when she heard a knock on the door. Another handsome man walked inside. A tall man with radiant skin and golden curls entered the room with ease. The angel-like figure's face brightened as he cheerfully announced,
"Luxion!! I am back. Did you send that gi..r"
Nathan stopped in his tracks when he saw Esther looking at him. Her purplish blue eyes felt like he was staring into the universe. Eventhough, she was human, she was beautiful like an angel. He was beside Luxion, arms crossed with a mischievous grin.
""Luxion, this girl is cute. Can I keep her with me in Heaven? She'd make a fine angel."
The room fell silent. Temperature dropped.
Luxion glared at him. He was angry. He spoke in deep cold tone.
"She. Is. Mine"
Nathan shivered due to the drop in temperature but he was more confused by luxion who called that girl his.
"Huh??? What? Yours?? But... but... you said that-"
Luxion touched esther's hand and spoke,
"Need more explanation?"
"Gahhhhhhh—!" he let out a loud, exaggerated scream.
"Devil got his wife?? This sweet, vulnerable looking girl will be your wife. The Devil's wife?" Nathan blurted out.
Luxion glanced at Esther, who was now sitting on the bed with an adorably confused expression. She was gently playing with her hair, tilting her head slightly as if trying to understand everything at once. She looked... ethereal.
Her soft golden hair was pinned half-up with delicate curls framing her flushed face. The white gown she wore complemented her eyes, which were wide and filled with innocence and curiosity. He was stunned by her beauty.
Before he could say anything, Nathan burst into laughter, absolutely delighted.
"Oh heavens— I mean, oh hell!" he snorted. "The Devil... stunned by a girl? Things are going to be entertaining in hell."
He smirked and started walking toward the exit, tossing a knowing look over his shoulder. "Ah, yeah. Don't forget your work. They're coming soon. And... congratulations, Mr. Devil~" he added with a mischievous grin and disappeared down the corridor.
"Who is coming? Isn't devil cruel and evil? Why are you different? And why is hell so normal? Shouldn't it be covered with fire, other demons, souls screaming then why is it so different?" Esther asked hurriedly.
Luxion laughed softly, shaking his head. "You're like a curious kitten."
He gently patted her head again. "I'll answer every question after you rest a little more. You've been through too much."
Esther's eyes softened. "After my elder sister... you're the first to be this nice to me."
That made Luxion pause, heart squeezing silently.
"Rest, sweetheart," he said, smiling faintly.
Few hours later....
Esther woke up feeling much better. She washed her face and walked out of the room. The hallway was dim, but small flame lamps lining the walls sparked to life as she walked, guiding her step by step. She followed the flickering lights through the massive corridor until she reached a towering door that slowly creaked open on its own.
Inside was a throne room unlike anything she'd seen.
The air was heavy.
Before her sat Luxion- no longer the gentle man she'd just spoken to, but a dark monarch cloaked entirely in obsidian armor. His figure was covered in layered robes that oozed darkness, metallic threads coiling around his chest like chains. His face was hidden beneath a hood, the faint glow of his crimson eyes the only visible feature. Behind him loomed an enormous figure: twisted, spiked, its skeletal form giving off an aura of ancient terror. Around his throne were countless shadowy figures bowing in eternal servitude, their bodies armored in demonic steel.
Skulls littered the ground like forgotten flowers.
Esther shivered in fear but slowly walked forward.
"Umm... Angel"
Luxion's eyes widened under the hood. He snapped his fingers instantly.
The dark throne room vanished in a swirl of smoke. In its place, a luminous hall emerged. The eerie silence was replaced by the hum of soft music. Roses bloomed across the room. The throne, once dark and cold, now gleamed in gold and velvet. The smell of blood was replaced with the scent of lilacs. His armor melted into a regal white-and-black king's robe, embroidered with celestial sigils and metallic thread.
Esther gasped, eyes sparkling. "Woooow... It's beautiful!"
"Come here, darling."
"Darling?" A small girl with bluish silver curls and glittering eyes popped out from behind Luxion's throne.
"Why did everything change here? Why is your throne different and who is she?" Another child, a serious-looking little boy with silver hair and dark eyes, stepped out from behind Esther, eyeing the room with curious suspicion.
Esther was surprised by them. Kids? In hell?
