SYNPOSIS
The Traceur d'Etreté is not a object. It is a mirror for the self, bound to its user by emotional resonance and the temporal memory weight.
Every individual has the potential to form one.
Most do not survive it.
FUNCTION OVERVIEW
Trait & description
Type: Sentient memory log / emotional anchor
Host Binding: Forms naturally in these undergoing memory-temporal distortion
Appearance: Usually a notebook, diary or similar vessel-though can change form
Language: Written in the host's hand — sometimes BEFORE they've written it
Anomalies: Pages may write themselves. Some cannot be removed. Some vanish.
Designation: Each active Traceur logs itself as a numbered case (ex: #004)
TRACEUR RULESET (as observed)
Not all Traceurs follow the same rules, but based on subject #004 and related cases, here's what has been verified:
1. Traceurs write in both directions.
- Some pages are written from the past, others from the future.
- future entries often appear before their events occur
- Retros often write full conversations backward — across days
2. If a page is lost, memory collapses
- Destroying or removing a page may erase the memory attached to it.
- In rare in cases, it erases the person entirely from others' memory
- blackouts, timeline anomalies, or spatial distortions may occur.
3. Traceurs may lie
- The Traceur is not a diary. It is a sentient record.
- Some pages are decoys. Others are planted.
- Readers cannot always trust the content — even if its in their own handwriting
4. All Traceurs become unstable at 6 active entries
Case data: Subject #001 through #006
-Memory loop begins. Pages start appearing out of order.
- Entries begin overlapping. Names glitch.
- some hosts report hearing voices when touching certain pages
