Bab 81 – The Call That Changed Everything
The crisp morning air of Porto wrapped around Jota as he stood at the window of the small apartment he now shared with his mother and Ana. The city below buzzed faintly with life—vendors shouting, buses rumbling, the smell of bread drifting from the bakery downstairs. But his mind wasn't there. His gaze was fixed on the phone resting on the table.
For days, he had been expecting it. Hoping for it. Dreading it.
The call from FC Porto's youth academy.
He had been scouted during the regional tournament—a small but fiery contest where he'd stunned everyone by scoring five goals in two games. Word spread quickly; even a few coaches whispered his name. "That boy from Penedono… he plays like someone possessed."
Jota smirked bitterly at the phrase. If only they knew.
Ana burst into the room, her pigtails bouncing. "Mama said breakfast's ready! You're gonna need strength if you're joining Porto!"
