Chapter 41 – The Letter
The morning after the match felt different.
Not louder. Not busier.
Just slower.
The academy usually buzzed with energy by seven. But today, footsteps echoed softer. Conversations were hushed. Even breakfast seemed quieter—as if no one wanted to break whatever spell the match had cast.
Jota moved through the cafeteria with his tray—simple meal, same table, same corner.
But the stares were new.
Not hostile.
Just longer.
Tiago waved him over. "They're still talking about the game."
Bruno added, "Coach Nuno's phone hasn't stopped buzzing. Someone from the federation showed up at his office."
Jota ate slowly. "So?"
"So," Bruno leaned in, "your name came up. Twice."
Jota didn't react.
But something settled behind his eyes. Something still and alert—like a string being tuned.
