Eight days later, when winter arrived, namely December, thousands of magical monsters would be released from those magical monster gates, and the place would turn into a white hell.
Of course, Luke wasn't sure that everything would start eight days later. After all, those gates could open in January or February...
When the next day arrived, Luke had gotten up before six in the morning, watched the rising sun, and saw it hide behind the snow clouds.
When the snow began to fall and Luke finally left the mansion, he managed to catch sight of Callum and Kevin standing side by side. The two of them seemed to have gotten up early, just like him.
As soon as Kevin saw Luke, he appeared beside him at hyper speed and said, "Your Majesty, the road construction is complete. A nine-hundred-kilometre area has been illuminated with the magic stones we obtained from you, and the roads have been paved with Moon Stones. Everything is complete."
Luke smiled when he heard these words. It was indeed good news. The roads both inside and outside the town were completely paved. This was good news. At least people coming from outside could reach the town properly.
This nine-hundred-kilometre-long road, almost entirely flat, naturally extended to the left side of the road leading to the mountains, that is, to the edge of the massive walls of the Duchy of Wirgo.
The mountains, or rather the area where Luke wanted to build another road afterwards, were bypassed by the road leading directly to the city of the Duchy of Wirgo.
In short, the existence of thousands of kilometres of road was an undeniable fact, and eventually, this road would be built.
In this reality, where Kevin and Callum had set up twenty camps to deliver the materials, and where even the journey from the first camp—the fifty-kilometre dam area—to the nine-hundred-kilometre dam area might take hours, the elves had truly done an excellent job.
Luke was surprised.
Still, it was good to know that everything was complete. If Kevin said so, it meant he had checked everything with his own eyes.
"Well done, Kevin, I'm proud of you," Luke said, then turned to Callum, who was a few steps away, and said, "We're entering December, Callum, we need to prepare."
Callum, of course, immediately understood what Luke was talking about and then said, "As you command," and left.
There were seven days left. After seven nights, the sun that would rise would either end everything or save everyone.
After wandering around the town for a while, Luke managed to find Elvis and gave him the bodies of the magical monsters that the elves and Callum had encountered and killed while building the road.
With that, Elvis set off on a journey to the Duchy of Wirgo, that is, the city of Esphia.
Elvis needed to leave before the heavy winter rains began. Therefore, Luke provided him with three warrior elves to accompany him, and these elves departed the town, vowing not to return for three months.
Luke, on the other hand, returned to his mansion and his room after finishing each task and lit a few candles.
Immediately afterwards, he reached into his inventory, took out the parchment of his agreement with Elvis, and placed it on the ground. He then calmly uttered the following words:
"I call upon Sancus, the god of contracts, agreements, marriage, and solidarity. This mortal soul requests that you bless this agreement and elevate it to a level that cannot be rejected, and that you bestow death upon the party that breaches the agreement. I implore you. Please heed this mortal soul's prayer."
When Luke said these words, the room fell silent. Completely silent. The sounds of entertainment coming from outside the mansion had stopped, the crackling of the candles in his room had disappeared, and he could not even hear his breathing.
At that moment, a figure appeared before him. A figure with eyes that shone a vivid green. Luke couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman.
It was none other than an angel sent to signify the union with a god or goddess.
Gods and goddesses rarely granted people's wishes. They were proud beings, after all. The Hiera lineage was among these beings. The Hiera lineage was a lineage with a very high probability of having their wishes granted.
Of course, this was enough to explain why an angel had appered in just a few seconds.
When the angel with emerald eyes bent down to pick up the agreement, he glanced at Luke once and then disappeared immediately after tilting his head slightly to the right.
This meant that the agreement had already been approved.
In short, this agreement would continue to exist under the name of Sancus, and anyone who rejected its contents would face death.
It was an unbreakable agreement.
Meanwhile, the day had come to an end, and Luke lay down in his bed, feeling the joy of having completed all his daily tasks, intending to sleep for the entire day.
He didn't even want to take a hot shower. He simply lay down in his bed and closed his eyes, filled with the hope of a better future.
Luke slept for a full day and a half.
There were only six and a half days left until winter began.
Luke didn't leave his room for the rest of the day. He told Kevin, who came to check on him, that everything was under control and that he wanted to rest today.
Working frantically for three months had naturally earned him the right to rest.
Still, Luke spent this time reading a book in his room and eating the palace sweets his mother Emma had sent him.
Another day had passed.
Then another.
And another.
And another, until five days had passed.
Meanwhile, there was only one day left until winter began. The preparations were complete. Luke was certain that there was enough food and drink even if she were not there.
Tons of meat and water, along with a considerable amount of plants, had been stored.
The necessary orders had been given to the mermaids and mermen.
Now, all that was left was to be ready.
