But the truth was, even Darren could feel it. Kayden's silence wasn't just fatigue. Something was breaking inside him.
Darren shifted his gaze to Ariz. "Why are you here, senior?"
Ariz raised a brow, irritation flashing in his tone. "Which of your ears needs fixing before you hear? I just said I came to talk to both of you. Or did you expect me to grab a mic before you finally heard me?"
He took a step closer, smirking. "Or maybe you want me to say I missed you before you understand? Or is it that you missed me?" Ariz teased.
Darren scoffed. "This isn't the time for jokes. Kayden and I are very busy seniors. We can talk in school, but for now, neither of us is available."
Ariz sighed, his playfulness softening. "Alright, I won't drag it. It's just… for Kayden. Tell him to take it slow. I can't wait to see his cheerful smile again." With that, Ariz turned and walked away.
