Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: The Psychic-Type Victim Ding Yumian

The Beast Duel Tournament finally came to an end with Mo Fan emerging as the victor.

Zhou Haoyu wasn't surprised by the outcome—if Mo Fan had revealed his full strength, Mu Nujiao wouldn't have lasted nearly as long.

After returning to her seat, Mu Nujiao looked curiously at Zhou Haoyu. "Do you know Mo Fan? Otherwise, how did you know he still had a trump card?"

"I do, but we're not exactly close," Zhou Haoyu replied.

Once the Beast Duel Tournament concluded, an intense argument broke out.

According to the rules, the Summoning Element had racked up 200 wins, meaning this year's freshman resources would go to the Summoning department.

In reality, divided among them, each person wouldn't get much. But no one wanted to see those resources fall into the hands of just one person.

Zhou Haoyu had no interest in commenting on their double standards.

After a round of lecturing from Dean Xiao, the students of the various elements gradually dispersed. The vast Azure Hall suddenly became much quieter.

"Hey, this is your first time at Pearl Academy, right? Want me and Mu-jiejie to show you around?" Ai Tutu looked at Zhou Haoyu as she spoke.

Zhou Haoyu had already grown used to this "hey" of hers. Ai Tutu was just the type who never listened.

Mu Nujiao's beautiful eyes held a trace of anticipation. She was genuinely curious how Zhou Haoyu trained—he didn't seem like someone of their age at all.

"I plan to look around on my own. I won't be joining you two."

With that said, Zhou Haoyu stood up and left, heading straight for the backstage exit. He intended to check out the conditions for unlocking Dean Xiao's treasure chest.

Seeing Zhou Haoyu leave without hesitation, both Mu Nujiao and Ai Tutu were stunned.

"This Zhou Haoyu must be blind. Two beauties offering to accompany him, and he turns it down to wander around alone. So boring," Ai Tutu pouted in dissatisfaction.

Mu Nujiao quietly watched Zhou Haoyu's back. She felt like he was hiding something.

Hmm, worth investigating.

[Unlock Condition: During the Ocean Crisis, repel the Ocean God Clan's invasion and slay an Emperor-ranked creature.]

"This difficulty really isn't low!"

When Zhou Haoyu arrived at the backstage exit, he happened to see Dean Xiao and several professors leaving.

Now that he'd seen the unlock condition, Zhou Haoyu had no intention of staying longer and was about to leave.

But!

"You there, student—you're not from Pearl Academy, are you?"

Hearing the voice, Zhou Haoyu immediately turned around.

He saw Dean Xiao's eyes slightly narrowed, a gentle light shining through their murkiness, with a kind smile on his face.

If it were Songhe making that face, Zhou Haoyu would've assumed something shady was coming. But with Dean Xiao's reputation, he was more at ease.

Still, it wasn't impossible to be tricked.

Looking at the young man before him, Dean Xiao's expression remained calm, but inwardly he was stunned.

This spiritual energy was far too immense, and there was also a peculiar sensation to it. But if this youth was a psychic-type victim, someone who had suffered a mental breakdown, how could he have such flawless control at such a young age?

"Greetings, Dean Xiao. I'm Zhou Haoyu, a student from the Imperial Capital Academy." Zhou Haoyu gave a slight bow with his hands clasped respectfully.

Upon hearing that he was from the Imperial Capital Academy, a few of the professors and instructors nearby showed unfriendly expressions.

One hot-tempered old professor even snorted, "What's a student from the Imperial Capital Academy doing at our humble Academy?!"

"I was deeply moved by Dean Xiao's speech just now. As a student who strives for the pinnacle of magic, I naturally wish to learn from the teachings of all the esteemed seniors."

Zhou Haoyu responded with respectful tone.

"Hmph!" The old professor grunted, though the hostility in his eyes clearly lessened.

No one hits a smiling face—especially when they couldn't find fault with anything he'd said.

"Well said. As long as it benefits your magical path, where you train doesn't matter."

Dean Xiao showed a trace of appreciation on his face, but then changed the subject. "I can tell your cultivation isn't low—why don't you come visit the main campus with me?"

Zhou Haoyu's mouth twitched. This level of cultivation was nothing in front of a Forbidden Curse mage like him.

Was Dean Xiao setting him up?

Though the old professor and others were still suspicious, they didn't interfere with Dean Xiao's interest and went their separate ways.

After entering the main campus, Dean Xiao led Zhou Haoyu to a dean's office.

Zhou Haoyu thought this was Dean Xiao's own office—but the next moment, he dismissed that thought.

There were only two people in the office: one elderly man with graying hair and one youthful, delicate-looking female student.

[Unlock Condition: Resolve Ding Yumian's innate talent problem.]

"Ding Yumian." Zhou Haoyu's pupils contracted, and his gaze shifted again to that female student.

Ding Yumian wore a standard black uniform. The soft fabric hugged her curves, highlighting her slender waist and the elegant line of her collarbones.

Her sleeves were slightly rolled up, revealing a portion of her fair and slender forearm—her skin was as smooth as mutton-fat jade, enough to stir the heart.

She paired it with a light brown pleated skirt, the hem resting right at mid-thigh. Her perfectly shaped calves were fully exposed—a sight one could admire for a lifetime without growing tired.

Dean Fu glanced at Zhou Haoyu twice before turning to Dean Xiao and saying, "Old Xiao, what brings you to my place today?"

Zhou Haoyu had excellent control over his spiritual force—aside from powerhouses like Dean Xiao, it was difficult for anyone else to notice it.

"This young man's spiritual force is extremely strong, surpassing that of most Advanced Mages," said Dean Xiao.

Dean Fu paused for a second, then began to sense him carefully.

In the next moment, his face showed astonishment—his spiritual force was actually even stronger than Ding Yumian's!

How was that possible?!

Zhou Haoyu's face was full of black lines. He felt like he'd just been sold out, but there was nothing he could do about these two top-tier figures.

Once Dean Fu recovered from his shock, he immediately understood Dean Xiao's intention.

If Ding Yumian could learn this method of controlling her spiritual force, wouldn't that solve the problem of her affecting those around her?

But before that, they had to determine whether this young man was trustworthy.

Zhou Haoyu felt uncomfortable under the old man's intense stare and spoke up, "Senior, if you've got something to say, please just say it."

Then, Dean Fu asked a few questions about his identity, and Zhou Haoyu answered truthfully.

There was no need to hide such trivial details about himself.

"Born with dual elements, and his primary element is Space. But even so, his spiritual force shouldn't be this strong. Could it be dual innate talents?"

Dean Xiao was deep in thought. Being born with dual elements already ruled out the possibility of being a psychic-type victim.

In serious cases, psychic-type victims could even awaken the Ice Element—like Qin Yu'er.

But Zhou Haoyu awakened two elements simultaneously, which clearly meant he couldn't be a victim.

After careful consideration, Dean Fu finally looked at Zhou Haoyu and said, "Young friend, would you be willing to share your method of controlling spiritual force?"

"Method of controlling spiritual force?"

Zhou Haoyu was momentarily stunned. He didn't have any special method—his control all stemmed from the Spiritual Origin Source.
