Chapter 152 - Chapter 149 – The Great Toad Sage’s Prophecy

The afternoon sun spilled through the wide windows of the Hokage's office, gilding the rows of scrolls and softly rustling papers with a warm glow. Kakashi closed the heavy door behind him with a quiet click, shutting out the hum of the village below. His single grey eye was sharp with purpose.

"Uncle Jiraiya," he began without preamble, "one month before Sister Kushina's due date, I need you to remain in Konoha—no wandering, no last-minute trips."

He turned to Minato, the Fourth Hokage, before continuing. "And to strengthen security, I plan to bring Sister Tsunade back when the time comes. We can't leave any openings."

Jiraiya raised a brow at the younger man's serious tone. "October, right? Fine." He folded his arms, thinking for only a heartbeat before nodding. "I'll come back as agreed."

The Toad Sage understood well enough. As Minato's mentor, he knew that a Jinchūriki was most vulnerable while giving birth. If a seal weakened even for an instant, the Nine Tails could break free and plunge the village into chaos.

Kakashi inclined his head. "Thank you, Uncle Jiraiya."

Jiraiya waved it off, though he allowed a faint smile. He was a free-spirited wanderer, a seeker of the Child of Prophecy and of a lasting peace in the ninja world. Not even the Third Hokage's death had bound him to the seat of power. Yet here he was, agreeing to remain in Konoha for the sake of Minato and Kushina. Their bond with him ran deeper than any mission.

Kakashi straightened, his tone turning even graver. "Minato-sensei, I have another request."

Minato's blue eyes softened slightly. "Go on."

"I want you to use the moment of Kushina-sister's delivery to split the Nine Tails' chakra. Seal the Yang half into your child."

The Hokage blinked, startled. Across the desk, Jiraiya stiffened.

"What?" they said in near unison.

Minato recovered first, his voice low and steady. "Kakashi, I know you think carefully before speaking, and you're rarely wrong. But this is not a small matter. Tell me why I should even consider making my own child a Jinchūriki."

He leaned forward, expression sharpened by both worry and the love of a father. The pain of a Jinchūriki's life was something he understood intimately through Kushina. He would never choose that burden for his unborn child—unless there was a compelling reason.

Kakashi met his gaze without flinching. "Because your child is the one foretold to guide the ninja world to peace. He is the Child of Prophecy."

The words landed like an exploding tag.

"What?!" Jiraiya lurched forward, composure gone. "Kakashi, how could you possibly know that?"

The legendary sage had chased the Great Toad Sage's prophecy for decades. Two people had once seemed to fit the vision: Minato himself, radiant as the sun, and Nagato, who wielded the fabled Rinnegan. But now Kakashi claimed that Minato's unborn child was destined to fulfill it?

Kakashi's voice was calm, almost eerily certain. "Because I have confirmation from the Three Tails—and because I am, in fact, the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths."

The room fell into stunned silence.

Minato blinked. "You… what?"

Even the ever-collected Hokage felt the air shift. Yet something in Kakashi's unwavering tone made it difficult to dismiss as a joke.

"Yes," Kakashi continued. "The Three Tails told me. The Sage of Six Paths—my previous life—left behind a prophecy. It speaks of a blue-eyed boy who will smile as he calls each of the nine tailed beasts by name. This boy will guide them, show them what true power is."

He drew a steady breath. "When I learned Sister Kushina was pregnant, I felt it with absolute certainty. Minato-sensei, your child is that boy."

Minato and Jiraiya exchanged a look, each reading the other's astonishment. From anyone else, the story might have sounded like myth or madness. But coming from Kakashi, every word carried weight.

"I… believe you," Jiraiya said at last, voice trembling with excitement. "In fact, the reason I returned to the village was because the Great Toad Sage recently made a new prophecy."

His eyes gleamed as he recited it: "A white-haired boy wreathed in thunder, a traveler from another world who arrives from the stars, shelters twins whose fates intertwine, and by his choice the future of the ninja world is decided."

Jiraiya spread his hands, almost triumphant. "I couldn't make sense of 'a traveler from another world visiting from outer space'—until now. A reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths, arriving from beyond, perfectly fits."

Kakashi tilted his head, momentarily thrown. So that's the Great Toad Sage's latest vision?

Truthfully, his reason for wanting Naruto to carry the Nine Tails was far more pragmatic. He feared that his unexpected presence in this world—his own rebirth—might disrupt the timeline. If Kaguya were ever revived and Naruto hadn't grown enough to face her, the very fabric of destiny could unravel. Claiming the Sage of Six Paths as his previous life simply made his argument more persuasive.

Still, Jiraiya's revelation felt like a cosmic assist. A white-haired boy surrounded by thunder… That certainly described himself. And "traveler from another world"? Was the prophecy hinting at his own time-traveling soul?

If the future of the ninja world truly hinged on his decisions, that was almost intimidating. Am I really that important? For an instant he imagined striking a heroic pose, hands on his hips, before shaking the thought away.

"I understand," Minato said at last, his voice firm. "I'll do as you suggest."

He leaned back, mind already racing. The idea was dangerous, but not impossible. Normally, separating a tailed beast from its host meant death. Yet as Kushina's husband and a sealing master, he knew the Uzumaki clan's unique chakra made exceptions possible. When a beast's chakra left its host, it usually drained all life energy. But if only half the Nine Tails was removed, Kushina would survive—weak for a time, but alive.

The real challenge would be controlling the fox during the separation. With Kushina's cooperation and his own sealing skills, it could be done. Still, his child's life would begin under an enormous burden. Minato silently vowed that his son would one day understand.

First, though, he would need to win Kushina's consent.

Kakashi caught the flicker of resolve in Minato's eyes and released a quiet breath. The plan was on track.

The conversation lingered, heavy with both hope and apprehension. Outside, the evening shadows lengthened across the village, but inside the office the air buzzed with a sense of fate unfolding.

"Also," Kakashi added, his voice steady though the tension eased slightly, "I've prepared a plan for Kushina-sister's birthplace. One that ensures absolute safety for mother and child…"

His words trailed off as they turned to the practicalities—layers of seals, covert escorts, hidden barriers—each detail a step toward a future prophesied long before any of them were born.

---

The wheels of destiny were already in motion.

The Child of Prophecy was on his way.
