Kayden was so lost in thought, deep in a trance, that he didn't notice Stephen—who was busy arranging a bath for him.
With the help of a maid, a mixture of hot and cold water was poured into the large tub, sprinkled with scented flowers. When Stephen was satisfied, he dismissed the maid and, on his own, went to prepare breakfast for Kayden.
Kayden's head was full. Thane had grown more aggressive—and worse, he seemed to be morphing into some strange creature. Whatever it was he had used to attack him nearly ended him on the spot. And the coffin… judging by the sequence of its arrangement, Kayden had come to a chilling realization: it was a setup for how they were going to be killed. Zolan was first.
That dungeon had been a good hiding place—a perfect distraction—and no one would ever know what had happened there. But now… he needed to get Zolan out. Zolan might be furious with him for throwing him in there in the first place, but it had been for his sake.
