Chapter 227 - A Shift in the Balance

Rossweise had always firmly held the reins of control, including during the 'marital communication' with Leon.

Indeed, she yearned to be conquered by him. But that was a personal desire. Compared to the instinct for control bred into the Dragon Clan for millennia, that desire had always taken a back seat.

Tonight, however, was different.

After successfully using the dragon tattoo to help Leon unlock the first gate, the tattoo's reaction did not subside.

A deep purple light shimmered on both their chests. It was a corrupting light, a light of desire. Every time this glow filled their vision, both felt an uncontrollable sense of shame deep within.

And the only way to veil this light was to hold each other tightly, attempting to smother the sinful glow in the warmth of their ambiguity.

Yet, it was never enough. The dim light of the dragon tattoo escaped through the gaps between them, just like the feelings and admiration they each tried so hard to conceal.

Having experienced this shame countless times—a shame that made their hearts race and cheeks flush—they had also let it run wild on numerous occasions. They could only immerse their entire focus in their intimacy, trying to escape the pursuit of that shame.

But as the kiss deepened, Rossweise faintly sensed something unusual. This man felt different, as if… there was a renewed vigor to him.

Suddenly, he moved. He wanted to take control.

Naturally, Rossweise would not allow it. The resonance of the dragon tattoo alone was not enough to inflate her own desire to be conquered to that point.

Rossweise was still the noble and aloof Dragon King, the one who had always dominated Leon. She raised a hand and pressed it against Leon's chest, pushing him back. Her queenly eyes were seductive, her gaze soft yet commanding.

"Stay still. Don't move," she ordered.

She wasn't surprised by Leon's resistance; he often tried to turn the tables even during their 'assignments.'

But Rossweise controlled the dragon tattoo. No matter how steadfast Leon Cosmodeous's will was, it could not withstand the invasive power of the tattoo; he could only be manipulated by Rossweise.

So, every time the man resisted, it only added to Rossweise's pleasure. Sure enough, after her first warning, Leon attempted to resist again.

Rossweise chuckled and immediately intensified the dragon tattoo's power. The light glowed brighter, reflecting the queen's triumphant smile. But in the next moment, the force on her shoulders stunned her into stillness.

To her astonishment, Leon surged up like a pouncing leopard, pinning Rossweise down by her shoulders and reversing their positions in one fluid motion.

Rossweise lay on the pillow, staring up at the figure above her in shock. Her silver eyes swirled with a complex mix of emotions: shock, panic, but also a flicker of joy and anticipation.

Her man… had resisted the influence of the dragon tattoo?

Thump, thump, thump…

Rossweise looked at that handsome, resolute, and now expressionless face. She could hear her own heartbeat accelerating.

Incredible.

This man was incredible.

Freed from the control of the dragon tattoo, he was determined to master her, to make her struggle and plead in his large, rough hands…

The queen's slender eyebrows curved into crescents, a silvery light shimmering within them.

"Rossweise," Leon called her name, his voice low and cold.

He lifted her chin, bringing his lips close to her ear. "Don't you dare die later."

Rossweise clung to his strong, martial arms, listening to his threat.

Normally, she would have retorted. But now, she only wanted to quietly savor the panic and oppression Leon brought her. To her, that was the most wonderful love language in the world.

And as it turned out, Leon's threat was not an empty one.

Rossweise's earlier feeling was correct; Leon truly had undergone a transformation, a renewal.

Was it because of opening the first gate? Well, it had inadvertently added a new dimension to their married life.

It felt as if a bomb were hidden at the base of her skull. The fuse was the beautiful woman's slender spine, trailing all the way down to the soft small of her back.

Under the man's deadly threat, the flames of desire raced down her spine like a lit fuse, finally detonating the bomb.

In an instant.

Her mind buzzed incessantly, the world spinning before her eyes. In just a few milliseconds, Rossweise felt as if she had ascended to heaven and then plummeted into hell.

Her scattered silver pupils gradually refocused after a dozen seconds or so. Sensations throughout her body and her various senses slowly returned.

She blinked, staring blankly at the ceiling, the warmth in her body still lingering.

"It's like… it was all a dream."

Before she could hear a response from the man beside her, her chin was gently pinched, and she felt the soft touch of his lips.

The light kiss marked the end of this wondrous journey. Or perhaps it was merely a comma. After all, who knew if they would have another 'assignment' later?

As the kiss neared its end, Rossweise thought she could finally rest. That was how it usually went. But Leon showed no intention of letting go.

Hey, what is this dog of a man planning? A seamless transition to round two?

Rossweise gently pushed Leon away to give herself a chance to speak. "What's the rush? Let me rest for a moment."

Leon remained serious and didn't answer. Instead, he kissed her again.

Rossweise suddenly felt like she was dating a child. Shouldn't there be some 'dating' in a relationship? You can't just have 'love' without 'talk,' right?

But there was nothing she could do to stop him, so she had no choice but to humor this idiot for now.

About five minutes later, presumably after the man had his fill of kissing and finally calmed down, he released Rossweise.

Her face flushed, Rossweise let out a sigh of relief and lay back down. The two of them lay sprawled on the large bed, the blankets already kicked to the floor.

They both stared at the ceiling in silence.

After a while, Leon finally spoke. "Did you feel it?"

"Feel what?"

"The difference."

Rossweise's pupils flickered slightly, then she nodded. "Mmm, it's very different from before."

Leon slowly raised his arm, looking at his palm. "It's as if there's an endless strength in my body, and this strength… it feels very pure."

Rossweise closed her eyes. "Mmm, I definitely felt the strength. But did you have to use this newfound power on me like this?"

Leon glanced at her. "A dragon slayer learns a new skill and uses it on a dragon. Isn't that reasonable?"

The queen kicked him in the waist. "What's reasonable about that? It's utterly preposterous!"

"Shall we continue?"

Rossweise hesitated, biting her lip, conflicted.

The experience just now had indeed reached an unprecedented level, and her desire to be conquered by Leon had been thoroughly satisfied. But as Leon had warned her—don't die.

A few more times at that intensity, and while death might be an exaggeration, passing out would still be utterly embarrassing!

She'd be mocked by this dog of a man for a long time.

Moreover, the fact that he could now break free from the dragon tattoo's control meant Rossweise had lost her initiative. This situation was very unfavorable for her.

Until she figured out a way to counterbalance Leon, it was better to 'retreat from the battle' as much as possible.

After some thought, though reluctant to let go of the entirely new experience, Rossweise restrained herself.

"That's enough for tonight," she said.

Leon had no intention of forcing her. When he asked if they should continue, he was merely testing the limits of his new physical state after opening the first gate.

However, judging by the mother dragon's weakened condition—

Rossweise probably wouldn't last long enough for Leon to even find his limits, right?

Heh. So this is the mighty Dragon King's physique?

Fragile.
