Leon thought he should take care of the leftover cake during lunch. Cream was perishable, and it was better to finish it sooner rather than later.
He went to Rossweise's room without knocking, simply pushing the door open and walking in.
Rossweise was lying on the living room sofa in a light, thin nightgown, enjoying the cool breeze from the balcony. She looked comfortable and content.
Hearing footsteps, she didn't bother to look.
After all, the only person in the entire Silver Dragon Temple who would enter her room without knocking was him.
Rossweise had "punished" Leon many times for this in the past.
But the young Leon from back then was weak and easily handled by her.
The current Leon was as fierce as a lion. Rossweise couldn't easily move against him now. If she did, she might turn a balanced situation into a disadvantage, leading to a crushing defeat.
So, she let him be. Most of the time during the day, she wasn't in her room anyway. She just locked the door at night.
"Hmm? What are you doing here?"
Seeing the graceful figure lying on the sofa, Leon was momentarily stunned.
Usually, before lunch, Rossweise would be busy in the temple's main hall and then go straight to the dining hall.
Rossweise slightly opened her silver eyes, glanced at Leon, then closed them again. "You barge into someone else's room and then ask why they're here. Is that reasonable?"
Leon shrugged, unconcerned.
Anyway, he knew this made Rossweise uncomfortable, so he did it.
The more she disliked what he did, the more he did it. His main goal was rebellion.
After closing her eyes, Rossweise let out a sleepy yawn, a few tears gathering at the corners of her eyes.
"So, you came back to slack off?" Leon teased.
"I work from eight to five every day, all year round. What's wrong with coming back to sleep for a while today?"
"Nothing, suit yourself. I'm here for the cake."
Leon's gaze shifted from Rossweise to the small leftover piece of cake on the coffee table. The cream had been scraped off and set aside on a tissue.
"You really hate cream that much?" Leon asked, already knowing the answer.
Truth be told, he wasn't fond of it either, considering the lasting impression it had left on both of them.
But this bickering couple had always followed the pattern of "hurting the enemy a thousand, damaging themselves eight hundred."
Leon didn't press further, feeling a bit uncomfortable about it.
This time, however, Rossweise didn't banter with Leon. She simply remarked, "Eating cream makes you fat."
As she spoke, she pinched her thigh through the thin nightgown.
Hmm, it seemed she had gained a little weight.
Although it wasn't much and wasn't visible, her sense of touch was always accurate. If she felt she had gained weight, then she had.
It was strange. For decades, she had watched her diet and exercised daily, and her weight had always remained stable.
But recently, this extra flesh seemed to be sprouting up like mushrooms after rain, growing rapidly.
Had she developed some bad habits lately without noticing, causing this weight gain?
Rossweise thought for a moment but couldn't recall anything. Everything seemed the same as before, no different from the past.
However… if she had to pinpoint a difference from before, it would be… that she and Leon had been "exchanging homework" less frequently.
Hiss—
Thinking of this, Rossweise tightly closed her eyes and shook her head to dispel the messy thoughts.
Does exchanging homework lead to weight loss? What kind of logic is that? I've never heard of it before!
Feeling annoyed, she sat up straight, about to say something. But it seemed she had sat up too quickly, causing a lack of blood flow to her brain. Her vision darkened, and she felt dizzy.
As Leon cut the cake into small pieces and arranged them on a plate, he glanced at her.
She looked a bit strange.
"Are you sick?" Leon asked casually.
"No, just a little… dizzy," Rossweise replied, gently massaging her temples.
"Oh… drink more hot water," Leon said half-heartedly.
Rossweise gave him a disdainful look and said nothing.
After feeling slightly better, she stood up from the sofa, put on her coat, and headed for the door.
After cutting the cake, Leon also took it to the dining hall.
The family of three sat at the table, with the cake temporarily set aside as a dessert for after the meal.
Muen sat across from Rossweise, not too far from her mother. She blinked and looked at her mother, suddenly asking, "Mom, you seem… like you didn't sleep well."
Rossweise looked up, tidied her hair, and smiled back. "Really? I don't think so. Maybe it's because Mom didn't put on any makeup today, so I look a bit tired."
"Mom, you have to take good care of yourself," little Muen said with concern.
"Mm, Mom knows. Let's eat quickly. Aren't you going to study with Dad this afternoon?"
"Mm-hmm!"
Muen began to eat earnestly.
The couple exchanged a glance, said nothing, and quietly started their meal.
After a while, Rossweise reminded, "Don't overwork yourself studying. Remember to take breaks," then got up and left.
Leon glanced at her plate. She had left a lot of food uneaten.
Was she trying to lose weight?
He looked up at Rossweise's retreating figure.
Tall and graceful, with long flowing hair, she had the perfect figure—slender legs and a slim waist. She didn't need to lose weight at all.
Women are so hard to understand.
Leon withdrew his gaze and looked at his daughter. "Muen, eat more. You need energy to study."
"Yes, Dad!"
After the meal, the father and daughter rested in the backyard for half an hour before starting their afternoon study session.
Muen had excellent comprehension and learned quickly, which pleased Leon.
Although Muen was often seen as a mascot, when she was serious, her learning efficiency was no less than Noah's.
And it all depended on Muen herself.
Noah was a genius and a study enthusiast; her lowest level was the upper limit for many.
But Muen only showed full enthusiasm when she had a specific goal to work toward. She had told Leon she wanted to catch up to her sister, which was why she worked so hard.
The proud father was deeply gratified. Such dedication wasn't just about frying steaks—it was even so positive. She was truly his daughter!
Leon had already started looking forward to the day Muen would awaken her talents. If this promising seedling awakened the same elemental affinity as Noah—lightning—then the word "swaggering" wouldn't be enough to describe Leon's excitement.
He would be dancing on Rossweise's head! See that, Mother Dragon? Both our daughters are so strong, all thanks to my genes!
Ahem—better hold off on the champagne for now. Things are still up in the air.
Leon pushed aside his scattered thoughts and continued teaching his daughter diligently.
In the late afternoon, Leon took a break, letting Muen work on some practice questions on her own.
He got up and went to the bookshelf to look for books that might help solve his magic depletion problem.
Noah had mentioned that St. Heath Academy's winter break would start in just over a month. He needed to restore his magic before then so he could teach Noah more lightning magic.
Time was short, and the task was heavy. Leon couldn't afford to delay.
But in the current situation, he had tried every method he could think of and still made no progress.
Leon held the ancient books, leaning against the bookshelf, his brow deeply furrowed.
"Where did I go wrong… What is the cause of this magic depletion?"
"I can still gather faint magic normally. There are no issues with my magic circuits. My physical and mental strength are at normal levels. I haven't been sealed by any external force. The side effects of the Blood Enchantment only cause unconsciousness and have nothing to do with magic."
"Tsk— I've considered all possibilities, but I still haven't found the cause."
"Could it be that I've been researching in the wrong direction…"
As his thoughts deepened, the atmosphere in the library grew heavy. Leon raised his hand, intending to loosen his collar.
But as his hand touched his chest, his movement abruptly stopped.
Suddenly, a completely new idea flashed into his mind.
