Erisia unlocked the door and stepped into the apartment. The warm air inside greeted her, carrying the faint scent of vanilla and something sweet—probably Rita's air freshener again.
She walked toward the living room, where Rita sat curled on the couch, phone in one hand and Rein sprawled lazily across her abdomen. The small cat was fast asleep, its tiny paws twitching every few seconds as if dreaming.
Erisia smiled at the sight. "Hey."
Rita looked up, lowering her phone. "You're back! How was lunch?"
"It was great," Erisia said, slipping off her coat and taking Rein gently from Rita's lap. She settled onto the couch beside her, the cushions sinking beneath her weight.
"You spent a lot of time there," Rita noted with a teasing smirk. "Hope you got what you needed?"
