c66: Beerus Endures the Humiliation and Pretends to Be Monaca
"What did you say?! How could I, the mighty God of Destruction, do such a disgraceful thing?!" Beerus growled furiously, his energy beginning to flare.
"What's the difference?" Bulma said bluntly, arms folded. "You've already lied about Monaka being some unbeatable master. Isn't it only fair you follow through on your own bluff?"
"Argh! Insolent woman!" A vein visibly popped on Beerus' temple. For a moment, he looked like he was seriously considering vaporizing her.
"Lord Beerus," Whis interjected calmly, "time is of the essence. If you don't act, Goku will return any moment now."
Beerus clenched his fists, clearly struggling internally.
"Eh? Did someone call my name?" came a voice from behind them.
Fwoosh!
Goku suddenly reappeared in the center of the courtyard via Instant Transmission, wearing a freshly changed outfit.
"Already?!" Beerus gasped, shocked by how fast Goku had returned.
Everyone else was equally surprised.
"Haha! Monaka!" Goku beamed, running up to him with that same childlike excitement he always had before a fight. "Now that I'm cleaned up, let's spar! I've been waiting forever for this!"
Goku had been itching for this moment ever since he heard Beerus declare Monaka the strongest warrior he'd ever faced—even stronger than himself and Whis. Goku, who constantly pushed his limits, couldn't ignore a challenge like that.
The others watched the scene nervously, not knowing how to intervene.
In a flash, Beerus appeared between them and shoved Goku back. "Hey! You can't just challenge Monaka like that!"
"Huh? Why not?" Goku asked, confused.
Beerus rubbed his chin quickly and improvised: "Because! If you really want to fight Monaka, you must first do one hundred mega sit-ups!"
"One hundred mega sit-ups? Got it!" Goku grinned and immediately zipped over to an open patch of grass, throwing himself to the ground and starting his reps.
Beerus sighed in relief. That bought them a few minutes.
As Goku exercised, Trunks and Goten came running over with something bulky in their arms, it was the oversized Monaka mascot suit Mr. Satan had brought for PR stunts earlier.
"Lord Beerus! We found the perfect disguise!" Trunks said proudly. "Now you can pretend to be Monaka without anyone noticing!"
Beerus glared at the ridiculous rubbery costume with its massive pink head and drooping antenna. "You actually want me : the God of Destruction to wear this clown suit?!"
Just the thought of it made his tail flick in irritation. It was utterly beneath him.
"Lord Beerus," Whis said again, now with some urgency, "if you don't act quickly, Goku will finish those sit-ups and expose Monaka."
"What?!"
Beerus turned his head and indeed, Goku had suddenly picked up speed. Each rep blurred with speed, sending shockwaves through the ground.
"He's already on the 70 trillion mark!" Piccolo muttered, eyes twitching. "That's not even possible..."
Vegeta and Luya exchanged a glance, both dripping cold sweat. They knew Goku could get reckless when battle-hungry. There was no reasoning with him once he had a target.
"Done!!" Goku yelled, leaping to his feet with a fist pump.
"So fast?!" Beerus shouted in disbelief.
Goku landed in front of him, wiping sweat off his brow. "Yup! A hundred trillion! Done! Time to fight Monaka!"
"Wait—how did you count that fast?!" Beerus asked, half panicked.
"Oh, easy!" Goku answered earnestly, raising a finger. "One trillion, two trillion, three trillion... a hundred trillion—it flew by! Honestly, I didn't even break a sweat!"
Everyone: "..."
Luya wiped his brow. So the rumors from Dragon Ball Super were true… Goku's really just a walking muscle with a single neuron...
"You idiot! That's not how counting works!" Beerus shouted. "It would take hundreds of years to reach that number properly!"
"Ehh? Who cares?" Goku shrugged. "Anyway, I'm ready to fight Monaka now!"
After saying that, Goku ignored everyone's reactions and eagerly pulled Monaca by the arm toward an open space:
"Let's go, Monaca! Let's find somewhere to spar, it's finally time!"
Monaca began to panic, visibly sweating, and struggled weakly against Goku's grip. But compared to Goku's strength, he was like a ragdoll. He turned his head in desperation toward Beerus and the others, his lips trembling and eyes misting over.
"No! Stop him!!" Beerus yelled, breaking into a panic.
"Tenshinhan! Dumpling use your Shishin no Ken and gravity techniques to stop Goku!" Krillin called out urgently.
"Right!" Tien nodded, and Chiaotzu (Dumpling) instantly responded, stretching out both palms with intense concentration.
A strange gravitational pressure descended on Goku.
"Whoa! What the—?! Why is my body suddenly so heavy?!" Goku stumbled, surprised. "It's like training under ten thousand times gravity!"
"Nice one!" Beerus nodded, relieved. "Keep him there!"
Everyone breathed out in relief but only for a moment.
Suddenly, Chiaotzu's voice quivered, "I, I can't hold it much longer...!"
Everyone's expressions darkened. Chiaotzu's tiny body was being dragged forward by Goku's sheer momentum, eventually slamming into the ground and passing out.
"He couldn't hold it either?!" Krillin was stunned.
Not wasting a second, he leapt forward. "Taiyōken!" (Solar Flare!)
A blinding flash exploded in front of Goku, causing him to cry out and shield his eyes instinctively. His grip on Monaca loosened.
"Now!" Krillin shouted, grabbing the stumbling Monaca and dragging him to safety.
"Lord Beerus! This is our only chance if we're going to swap you in, we have to do it now!" Krillin added.
Trunks and Goten quickly presented the Monaca suit again still oversized, still ridiculous.
Beerus grimaced. "I'm a God of Destruction, not a party clown!" he grumbled.
But Goku's sight was recovering quickly.
"Ugh... that was blinding. Huh?" He turned toward the nearby figure that now stood where Monaca had been just seconds earlier.
"…Monaca? Did you… get bigger?"
In front of Goku stood the "new" Monaca—his frame now broader and his aura subtly intimidating. Inside the rubber suit was none other than Beerus, growling in disgust and frustration.
"Don't get too close!" Bulma warned Goku sternly. "You might ruin the banquet setup!"
"Haha, got it!" Goku replied cheerfully, still blissfully unaware of the deception.
Suddenly BAM! Before Goku could even blink, Beerus, hidden inside the Monaca disguise, flashed forward and punched him squarely in the face!
"Gahhh!!" Goku yelped, his body launched back like a missile.
Everyone gasped.
And Beerus didn't stop there, he blurred forward and unleashed a flurry of rapid punches and kicks, each blow precise, suppressing Goku completely.
Boom! Boom! Smash!
Goku was knocked back dozens of meters with a powerful kick, tumbling through the dirt. The impact shook the ground.
Luya, Vegeta, and Piccolo's expressions turned serious.
Even though Beerus was holding back to keep up the Monaca act, his strength was leaking through. His movement, speed, and pressure were clearly on a different level.
Luya narrowed his eyes and activated the system:
[Strongest Saiyan Talent Activated!]
Information and readings flooded his mind. He took it all in seriously, thinking silently: This might be the perfect chance to analyze Beerus' combat data… even if he's holding back in that silly suit.
Luya muttered internally, Man, if I had something like a Sharingan right now, this would be way easier. Wait… wasn't I part of the Time Patrol? Why hasn't that been triggered yet?
He shook the thought off and focused back on the fight.
"It hurts!!" Goku shouted mid-tumble, rubbing his cheek with a grin. "But man, Monaca! You're stronger than I expected!"
And just like that, Goku leapt back to his feet, beaming with excitement.
"Now it's my turn!!" he shouted, aura exploding as he lunged toward Beerus.
Inside the suit, Beerus scowled and prepared to meet him head-on.
