c58: The Super Dragon Balls, Collected at Last!
Everyone quickly boarded the transport cube, and immediately, Whis floated into the air. He stepped onto the edge of the cube with elegance, his angelic sash fluttering. Then, with a graceful motion, he tapped the cube with his scepter. In the next moment, the entire cube levitated smoothly and ascended high into space.
As the arena slowly shrank beneath them, the group got a sweeping view of the Super Dragon Balls orbiting nearby. Seeing them from the outside was awe-inspiring each one massive enough to resemble a small planet, glowing with a soft golden luster under the light of the nearby star.
These artifacts, each spanning 60,000 kilometers in diameter, were rarely seen, even by gods. For mere mortals like Bulma or even seasoned warriors like Piccolo, this was an unforgettable experience.
Yet something was strange.
The asteroid they had just fought on looked oddly similar in size to the Super Dragon Balls floating nearby…
"Hey! Whis! Why'd you bring us all the way up here?" Beerus asked, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.
Whis turned to him with a serene smile. "Please, just take a closer look, Lord Beerus."
Without another word, Whis held out his scepter. Angelic energy glowing a soft green gathered around the staff's orb. He muttered something in the Angelic tongue, then pointed the scepter at the asteroid below them.
Zzzzrrrm!!
A beam of divine energy surged out and struck the asteroid.
Everyone watched in suspense.
At first, nothing happened. But within seconds, the planet-sized rock began to rumble. A low tremor echoed through space, and fractures formed across the asteroid's surface like spiderwebs.
Then
BOOM!!!
With a sudden eruption, chunks of rock and space debris shot outward! Underneath the crumbling surface, golden light began to leak through.
"Woah!! What's happening?!" Bulma's eyes widened in shock.
"Wait…" Piccolo narrowed his eyes, piecing it together. "Could that be?"
"Yes. That's correct," Whis confirmed with a gentle nod. "This asteroid is the seventh Super Dragon Ball. The reason the Dragon Radar showed all seven nearby, even though we had only six, is because we were standing on the last one the entire time."
"Unbelievable!!" Bulma gasped. "We were literally on top of it the whole time!"
"Hmph. All thanks to that fool Champa," Beerus muttered smugly, crossing his arms. "If he hadn't hidden it here, we'd still be searching the galaxy."
"But why was it hidden like that?" Goku asked, scratching his head.
Luya, standing nearby, smiled knowingly. "Most likely, when the Super Dragon Balls were scattered after the previous wish, this one collided with a similarly sized asteroid. Over time, space dust and debris coated its surface, disguising it completely."
Piccolo nodded. "Just like when Earth's Dragon Balls turn to stone after a wish they revert back after a time delay."
Everyone slowly nodded in understanding.
Below, the golden glow intensified as the outer debris finally finished breaking away. Now fully uncovered, the seventh Super Dragon Ball floated majestically in space, its red star glowing brilliantly at the center.
Now, at last, all seven Super Dragon Balls had been gathered.
"Haha! Finally! The complete set!" Beerus said, his face breaking into a rare grin.
The group gazed with awe at the orbs. In comparison to the vastness of the universe, they were still dwarfed but among divine artifacts, nothing was more awe-inspiring.
Luya couldn't take his eyes off the glowing spheres. The Super Dragon Balls.rumored to grant any wish, even on a cosmic scale. Entire universes had been restored by them before. If someone like Hit were to get ahold of them… the possibilities were endless.
As he considered this, the seven orbs began to drift into position.
The Super Dragon Balls spun in formation, slowly aligning in the void. They took the shape of a hexagonal array, with one sphere in the center and six around it. The air or rather, space.vibrated with divine energy.
The time had come.
"Whis! Summon the dragon already!" Beerus said with a mix of urgency and excitement.
Whis raised a hand apologetically. "I'm afraid I cannot summon Super Shenron, Lord Beerus."
Beerus blinked. "Huh? What do you mean you can't?!"
Whis smiled calmly and turned to Bulma. "This one is for the mortals. Bulma, you've studied the Super Dragon Balls, do you remember the chant?"
Bulma hesitated, then said, "Yeah… I've got it recorded. But I'll say it up front, you guys better not use this for any reckless wishes. No 'blow-up-the-universe' nonsense!"
Beerus winced slightly, as if she'd seen right through him.
The others chuckled.
Then, Bulma stepped forward, clearing her throat and holding her tablet aloft. She read aloud:
"Come forth, Dragon of the Gods, and grant my wish—Pereguino Popporunga Pupirittopaa!"
The sound echoed across the void—otherworldly and powerful. The Super Dragon Balls began to shimmer, glowing with divine energy.
Everyone held their breath.
It was time for the Super Shenron to appear.
Beerus waved his hand impatiently and snapped, "Yeah, yeah, I get it already! Stop nagging me! Don't worry, I'm not gonna wish for the universe to be destroyed or anything!"
Bulma sighed in relief. "Good. Then let me explain: to summon the Super Dragon, you need to speak in the Language of the Gods. After communicating with the Super Dragon Balls, you conclude by saying: 'Come forth, Dragon of the Gods, and grant my wish!' Once you do that, the Super Shenron will appear!"
Beerus raised a brow, then turned his head toward Whis. "Fine. Let's get it over with. Whis, summon it."
Whis gave a serene nod. "Very well, Lord Beerus."
He gently floated into space, and with his usual grace, raised his angelic scepter. A surge of divine ki spread out from his body in shimmering green waves as he chanted the summoning words in the Divine Language, just as instructed by Bulma:
"Takkaraputo Popporunga Pupirittopā!!"
At first, there was silence.
Everyone looked around, confused. The massive Super Dragon Balls still rotating in space showed no immediate change.
"Did it fail…?" Krillin murmured nervously.
Suddenly
BUZZZZZZZZZT!
The seven enormous Dragon Balls began to glow with a blinding golden light! A deep vibration shook the space around them, as if the universe itself were responding. The intense golden aura wrapped each orb in radiant brilliance, then funneled their light into the center star—the Four-Star Super Dragon Ball!
"It's reacting!!" Piccolo gasped.
All eyes locked onto the growing glow. Even Gohan stepped forward instinctively. They knew what was coming. The wish-granting deity of the gods... was about to appear!
The Dragon Balls continued to glow more intensely. Rays of golden energy spiraled outward like the birth of a star, and the surrounding space warped from the immense divine power.
"Everyone, shield your eyes!!" Goku called out, raising his arms instinctively to block the light.
The others followed suit. Even Vegeta squinted as the golden light consumed their vision.
Only Beerus remained unmoved, arms crossed, looking unfazed.
"Heh. This is nothing new," he muttered. "Still... I never get tired of this part."
Suddenly, the very fabric of space began to quake! A cosmic roar echoed across the void as time and space itself began to twist. An overwhelming aura of divine pressure poured out, slamming into the cube like a celestial wave.
Whis narrowed his eyes. With a flick of his wrist, he activated his scepter once more. A soft green dome of angelic energy expanded around the transport cube, shielding everyone as he gently guided them farther back to a safe distance.
From their new vantage point, they watched the spectacle unfold in awe.
To Bulma, this wasn't just magical, it was monumental. The scale, the energy output, the sheer force of this being's appearance... it was science-defying. She was already mentally cataloging data for later analysis.
As the blinding light began to stabilize, golden sparks erupted through the cosmos. Then
A great cosmic form emerged.
A serpentine figure of unimaginable size coiled and spiraled through the stars, its body glowing like stardust and gold. Its length spanned entire galaxies, and its eyes shone with the light of creation itself.
The Super Shenron had awakened.
Floating in the middle of his massive golden body, Goku couldn't help but grin. "Wow... It's even more awesome than last time."
Then his face softened. "You know... this reminds me of when I was a kid. Back when we had to gather the Earth's Dragon Balls manually. Man, it wasn't easy... climbing mountains, going through caves..."
Bulma's voice came from beside him, filled with nostalgia. "Yeah… I still remember the first time we met. Searching for the Dragon Balls in that tiny capsule car. So many years have passed…"
She looked at the glowing Super Shenron with wide eyes. "Back then, I never could've imagined we'd be summoning a god dragon this big, floating in space."
Goku chuckled. "Haha, yeah… but hey Bulma, you don't look that old at all!"
Bulma's smile froze. "...What did you just say?"
Goku blinked. "I mean, you look great for your age! You don't look that old!"
Bulma's expression darkened. "Son Goku!! I swear, I'll blast you out of this cube if you say that again!!"
"Ahhh! Sorry! I didn't mean it like that!" Goku laughed awkwardly, scratching his head.
Meanwhile, Vegeta stood off to the side, expression grim.
Something didn't feel right.
His eyebrow twitched as he watched Bulma scold Goku, her voice rising in volume.
Why… why did he feel like something was off?
Then it hit him.
"…Why do I feel like… my head just turned green?!"
