A cold rush of memory swept through Elena's mind — flames burning brighter than daylight, the heat closing in, her throat choking on smoke, and the sound of cruel laughter outside the door. The same two figures, standing in the shadows as the fire consumed everything around her.
The same people who had killed her once.
"Evan… Vanessa…" she whispered, her voice trembling but full of contained anger.
Lily's eyes widened when she heard the names from Elena's mouth. She looked closely at the CCTV footage again and realized that the two people really looked like Evan and Vanessa. Although she hadn't seen them in a long time, after Elena uttered their names, she also felt that the two figures greatly resembled them.
Elena paused the video. The two figures froze on the screen — nothing clear of their faces, just their silhouettes standing side by side near the lobby doors. But Elena didn't need to see more.
