Chapter 192 - Family Portrait Arc: Three

"I don't like it when you undermine me like that," Sous said to Kara while they were in their bedroom. Kara closed the curtains and turned the lights off, slithering into bed under the covers. She turned to her Alpha, silent. "The Alpha of the household-"

"Does not have the final say," Kara interjected.

Sous sighed. They didn't fight like this prior to the kids being born. But with the introduction of them specifically Pamoen, they were having more arguments and it was tiring Sous out.

"I saw nothing wrong with having her stay in the living room for family time. We have family time every Dies Verneris," Sous explained. She took off her clothes and proceeded to walk toward the restroom nude to take a shower.

Sppeeessshh!

The water began to run with Sous closing the door. She placed her hand in the water to test the temperature until finally stepping in.

She jumped when Kara pulled back the curtain and joined her in the shower. Kara touched Sous' face and the two began to kiss, their hands exploring each other's bodies. Sous lifted Kara up and placed her against the wall. Aroused, the Alpha was able to enter her easily.

Thud, thud, thud!

Each thrust slammed Kara into the wall of the shower, she let out little whimpers and soft moans. When Sous had finished, Kara could feel the Alpha's seed trailing down her leg along with the shower water.

Later in bed when Kara implied she wanted Sous' mouth to pleasure her, the Alpha had rejected her, claiming she was too tired.

Kara had been disappointed and frustrated. She had wanted Sous to reciprocate the intimacy they shared earlier. Sous had been distant since their arguments about Pamoen started off. Plus Sous admitting that she didn't like Kara taking authority of their family issues, to Kara it sounded like insecurities.

The next day while in her lone office at work, Sous filled out the application regarding Pamoen joining the Apex Youth Program. The sooner this Omega left the home, the better.

She cared for her daughter and she loved her daughter. It was just-just she didn't understand her daughter. She also hated the rift that was being torn between her and Kara.

Sous leaned back in her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose. She turned to look outside, of course, nothing but snow, snow, and snow. She loved it here in Faelock but she felt restricted all because of Pamoen.

Tap, tap!

Sous looked up to see a colleague standing in the doorway of her office. "Sous, you have a visitor," she said and then stepped aside to see an elf enter into her room.

Sous quickly stood up and took the elf's hand and bowed, something that made her stand out since many more and more people were choosing to shake hands.

"An elf in Faelock?" Sous wondered, putting her hands in her pocket.

"I come from the Valley of Trey. We're at war."

"With who?" Sous asked.

"Tania the witch of Vania."

Sous stumbled back against her desk. Her eyes were wide and she seemed to be out of breath. She undid her tie to give her some room to breathe. She thought back to when she tried to reach out, getting nothing.

"And what do you want me to do?" Sous asked.

"Help us fight her!" The elf said. "I read everything about you. About how you helped numerous tribes and clans, how you even got land back for the original inhabitants. You do what's right," the elf explained.

Sous shook her head. She walked to the window.

The snow outside was thick. It piled high against the office building. It muffled sound that was entering into her ears from the elf. It hid things and yet at the same time revealed many.

Sous watched it fall onto the ground, joining the many other flakes with its soft landing but not too relentless. Then her thoughts traveled, traveled back to Kara. She thought of Pamoen. She thought of the elf's plea at a whole new war with her long time friend.

Her fingers traced the condensation on the cold glass. This application, sending Pamoen away, felt like surrender. Like admitting she couldn't fix her own home.

Sous turned to face the elf. "I-I have to think about this," Sous admitted. "I haven't fought or trained in years," she said. "Just.. just give me some time."

"We don't have time...she's killing us like vermin," she cried out.

"What did you do to Tania?"

The elf stepped back and held her head down. "Several years ago, we were appoarched by a man with black wings. He had come to us willing to give protection if we gave an artifact to the witch. We refused," she recounted. She looked up at Sous. "You were there," she whispered. "You were with that man and you have power. The seals on your neck, your stomach. Plus I heard of the blue flames. Your ability, your strength!"

"I have never won against a witch," Sous told this elf. "Plus, Tania is my friend."

The elf seemed disgusted. "You're friends with someone as evil as her."

"No," Sous argued back. "She's not evil. I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding," the Alpha said.

The elf shook her head. "More than half a million dead is not a misunderstanding," she said, turning on her heels and walking away.

The door clicked shut with a finality that echoed through Sous's office. Silence settled like fresh powder outside, thick, muffling, absolute. Sous stared at the condensation trails her fingers had left on the windowpane, watching them blur and fade as if they'd never existed. Cold seeped through the glass, chilling the air despite the office heater's low drum.

She had the strangest desire to make love to Kara now. Wanting to taste her Omega and lay with her in bed.

Sous placed the tips of her fingers on her lips and walked back to her desk. She continued to fill out the application.
