Chapter 60 - The Dolls Arc: Five

This was Thibodeux's first time leaving the country of Nadia. She crossed over into Canas at about eight in the evening. Prior to her coming to Red Woods, she was given the direction to book at a hotel that was near the city hall.

The first thing she did when she checked into her hotel room was unpack her dolls. There were three of them, the three of them her family members who's spirits had been placed into the dolls by the witch doctor.

She ordered the three dolls to go out into the town of Red Woods both the human and the wolf side to coordinate a map. The three dolls ran off into the night, using their eyes to mentally draw the landscape all so she could take back to Hacate.

The Apex pack weren't the only ones seeking power. There were many who sought land and influence and Thibodeux worked for the highest bidder.

Her three dolls came back in the morning, just in time for her meeting with Doureena Apex. She wore her infamous black color outfit and boots with the heel. She walked with pride up the steps, paying no mind to the wolves that kept their eyes on her. Thibodeux was guided into the office by a receptionist, a scene that seemed that have taken place within the past some time.

The receptionist closed the door behind Thibodeux when she walked into Doureena's office who was staring out her office window with her hand in her pockets.

Without asking, Thibodeux took a seat in the chair in front of Doureena's desk. The Alpha took notice but didn't leave her spot, nor did she turn to face this priestess. They weren't to be trusted was what Doureena believed. Never would Apex forget the tale of Hacate killing an Alpha only to replace him with herself. It was a history they didn't like to talk about here in Red Woods. It was a history that wasn't even covered in the classrooms. It was such a weak time for them that they refused to ever allow something like that to happen again.

Doureena straighten her tie and finally turned around to look at Thibodeux, a teenager in her presence.

"You know my youngest is training to be a messenger," Doureena said. Thibodeux kept her face still with little emotion. Of course she hadn't a clue what the Alpha was talking about. "I never thought of her taking rank and I was against it until I realized I could keep her close this way. I can see if she tries to wayward off." Doureena was silent and sat down in her office chair, organizing the paperwork that was present. "In your message, you said you can kill Sous. I'm having a hard time believing that."

Thibodeux gave an offensive looked and adjusted herself in her seat.

"Yes, I can. With my magic, I know I can."

"And what magic is that?" Doureena sat back in her chair. "Is it your little dolls that you had running about the city last night?"

Thibodeux did her best to cover her self from being surprised. Doureena laughed and got back up, going to her favorite window.

"Sous would kill you dead."

"I can beat her!"

Doureena slowly turned to glare at this greedy teenager. She walked to the teenager and sat on the edge of her desk. She leaned forward.

"I haven't a doubt your transportation skills are good. You got here, didn't you, but if you really think you can kill her then prove it. If you are able to kill the mutt then Apex will reward you with 20k don."

Thibodeux scrunched her face. "That's it? Sous is your top most wanted and that's all you're giving?"

"Fine," Doureena said. "Kill Jacob. You know who he is?"

"The wolf human boy that hangs with Sous."

Doureena nodded her head. "He's worth 20k don. Kill him then come back with his head." She got off the desk and walked back to the window. As Thibodeux was getting out of her seat about to leave, the Alpha turned back to her. "Oh and Thibodeux, do not betray us." They stared at one another like a staring game to see who could blink first. Thibodeux nodded her head and left the office.

She walked past a young girl on her way out down the stairs. Kara saw the woman and proceeded to run after her down the stairs.

"Excuse me, excuse me!" Kara yelled out politely. Thibodeux turned around and smiled at Kara. "Are you a witch?"

Thibodeux laughed a bit. "No suga, I'm a priestess."

Kara could hear the accent on this young woman and knew she wasn't from Red Woods. Atin probably wasn't even the woman's first language. "Where are you from?"

"The baoyus of Cadjins in Nadia," she said with pride.

Kara looked Thibodeux up and down and gathered the young woman was probably a teen, still attending school!

"What school do you go to?"

"Guestions, questions."

"Sorry," Kara said adjusting her backpack that held some of the messages she was supposed to be transporting.

"Hacate."

Kara's face lighted up. "Do you know Sous?"

"Kara!"

Kara turned to see Zhiliary walking in her direction. She sighed and hunched over, knowing the teenage Alpha was going to order her to do something. Zhiliary walked up to them, quick to acknowledge Thibodeux.

"I apologize for this one. She's rather curious. We do hope you enjoy the rest of your day." Thibodeux nodded to Zhiliary's words and turned to go back to her hotel room. The teenage Alpha and the child Omega watched her leave.

Sous plopped down on her bed exhausted. For the past three days, Faye had been teaching her how to help spirits cross over to the other side. Though Sous was better than when she first started out, she was no where near as good as Faye.

She slammed her head into her pillow a couple of times with Faye sitting on the edge of her bed with a small smile on her face.

"I was hoping to have this perfected by tomorrow." Sous complained.

Faye shrugged her shoulders playing with little baby basilisk in her lap. She held the snake up and turned it in front of her.

"It looks like its getting bigger."

Sous looked up from slamming her head on her pillow. She sat up next to Faye and the two girls looked at the snake's body. Sous saw it. It was getting bigger, longer, and fatter.

"It should be able to turn us into stone soon," Faye said.

Sous shook her head. "It turned the demons into stone back in Dimona. That's the only reason why we won. We'd be dead with out little baby basilisk." Sous paused for a beat. "You're taking Makala to the Festival of Lights dance?"

"She asked me." Faye answered. "Is she an upperclassman?"

"No, she's a second year, I think."

The two girls were quiet again just thinking. In their own little thoughts. Sous had wanted to perfect the cross over technique by time of the Festival of Lights. She wasn't a priestess so it wouldn't come easy to her. The two girls also managed to find out that the room of the voodoo dolls was in the headmaster's office himself. Though they still had no idea who the school was selling the dolls to.

"We could get suspended for this."

Sous slammed herself back on the bed. "Who cares. As long as I get stronger to defeat Doureena and become the new Alpha, it don't matter. Besides," Sous began leaning up on her elbows. "I wanna help these spirits. So let's do the best we can."

The festival would kick off at ten in the morning with concession stands and games, later in the afternoon, the play would be put on for the student body, then in the evening would be the dance and fireworks. Sous would be attending with Tany...dancing with Tany. Tany.
