Sous had come to learn the girl she met and the girl she made a deal with was named Faye. She had a middle class upbringing in the cadjin province where her father was a fairy while her mother a priestess. When she came to Hacate in her first year and her current year, she had joined the spirit catcher club upon being recruited. However she learned during her first catch that it wasn't something she wanted to do.
Faye was well aware of voodoo dolls and their power. She even had some herself, but her dolls, none of them were pocessed and were more align with hexes and self remedies than anything else.
She heard the screams of the spirits when the needle stabbed them, she saw light in the dolls' eyes when they tried to escape. These spirits needed help to the other side, not trapped inside of some doll for people to buy and have do their biddings, most often evil biddings.
"Lavere!" Sous commanded as she helped other students within the student body decorate for the upcoming festival and holidays.
The school was decorated in colors such as orange and black with pumpkins, skeletons, and ghost figurines throughout the halls and dorms. Black cats roam about the halls with some giving and getting blessing from the feline creatures.
The leaves outside turned from green to yellow, brown, and orange and soon many suspected the first drop of snow would be appearing soon. Then it would be time for Sous' favorite holiday: Bruma. Her parents never had enough throughout the years but they did what they could for Sous when it came to getting her toys or new clothes they managed to afford at the thrift store or shelters.
She stared down at a poster board of a black cat eating candy. This would be her first year without her parents to celebrate the holidays. Just a year ago, she thought she had all the answers. That all she had to do was become Alpha of Apex, but things were so much bigger than her. There were many things she couldn't control or stop but one thing, she could eas fight for the Alpha spot.
Tany took the poster from Sous' hands.
"Icarus sent me a letter saying Kara is eleven now."
It was the Omega Tany had met on Sous' birthday, the one who had feelings for Sous. Tany looked at Sous and gave her a small smile preferring to not converse about her competition.
Sous stepped over the boxes and the ornaments, making her away out the library to the hallway towards the cafeteria. She hadn't written back to Kara, at least not yet. Sous wanted to know so many things like was Kara studying, was she planning to come to Hacate, about Monica and Doureena, did the truth ever come out? Had Monica admit to being part witch to Doureena? Probably not or Sous would have heard that. It would have been the talk of the nations. Then again, Doureena seemed like she truly did love Monica.
Sous stood on the step of the front entrance hall of the school, in a trace with her own thoughts.
Clank!
She looked up to see Thibodeux chasing after Faye. Their threading needles acting as both transportation methods and fighting utensils.
Faye landed on the wall and jumped just in time when Thibodeux slammed into it. Faye threaded through the halls leading to the small courtyard. Stunned to see the two fighting on campus in school the bundling, Sous followed after them. And she wasn't the only one.
Other members of the spirit catching club were also threading behind to catch up and even what seems to be some members of student council were also chasing after them, calling out their names for them to stop. Some curious students also followed them on foot.
Sous extracted her claws and ran upon the walls sideways to get a better advantage. She climbed on top of the court yard building when they made it to the small court yard. Everyone else gathered around to watch the fight.
Faye did a twist flip and slammed onto Thibodeux who was able to block the attack by using her own needles. She performed a side kick but Faye jumped out the way, returning with a round house kick that Thibodeux blocked once again with her needle.
When Sous looked closer, she saw Faye had a doll in her hand. Its eyes were glowing. The spirit catchers must have gotten back from a catch. Sous still hadn't made up her mind about still attending or not especially when her and Faye were still trying to find a way to release the spirits from the dolls to send them to the other side.
"This spirit is suffering!" Faye yelled. "Let it go!"
Thibodeux clinched her teeth, messing with her dolls was messing with her money and she wouldn't have that. She jumped into the air and soared toward Faye, performing a front kick that Faye wasn't able to block in time. She landed on the ground where Thibodeux attempted to stab her but she rolled out the way. When she got up, Thibodeux slashed her cheek, blood spewing out. Thibodeux came at Faye with full force. She stabbed and slashed with Faye barely able to keep up but held her own by blocking the attack on the defense.
Clank! Clank!
Thibodeux performed a triple twist kick and sent Faye through glass into a classroom being held.
The students all said their 'oos' as the class was disrupted by a small priestess flying through the window. They stood up from their desk, their professor obviously and understandably annoyed. He turned to look at Thibodeux who entered into the classroom stepping on the broken glass.
"What is the meaning of this, Vice President?"
Thibodeux was known as Vice President amongst the staff and faculty.
"I'm just trying to get whats mine," she responded with a lock jaw and teeth so clinched the professor was afraid she would break them. Thibodeux stepped on Faye's chest and held the needle to her throat. "Give me that doll!"
Faye held the doll up, the eyes still glowing as it tried to escape the vessel it was in. "Now you see it...now you don't." Just like that, the doll disappeared.
"Tsk," Thibodeux reacted how Faye would expect. With anger. Thibodeux took her needle and struck Faye across the face, the blood spilling out even with Faye spitting out blood. Thibodeux was going to strike Faye once more but her arm remained in the air. She turned to the source and saw the professor with his wand lighted.
"That's enough, Vice President!"
Thibodeux glared at the professor then looked down at Faye who was smiling at her with a blood coating her top and bottom teeth.
"This soul will pass onward, Vice Presidenr," Faye said. Thibodeux glared at the girl. With all of her might, she stumped down onto Faye's stomach. The girl hiked up, coughing up blood.
"Vice President!"
Thibodeux shot up her head. There was no shame, no regrets in her actions as she walked out the classroom.
Sous came through the window to Faye's side. She helped Faye up along with some of the students in the class.
The professor waved his wand. "That's enough, children, that's enough. Go on, get! Get to class or wherever you're supposed to be at this time." He told the students who stood outside and even some of the council members as they all tried to get a look into the classroom.
Once the crowd had dispersed and his own classroom was back in order, he went to the two girls' side. He used his wand to heal the wounds on Faye and then instructed Sous to take her to the infirmary to check for anything internal. Sous nodded her head, helping Faye get to her feet.
Sous smiled at the nurse who came to check on Faye. It was discovered there was some internal bleeding but the nurse was able to quickly stop that. Fate just needed to rest for the rest of the day and then not over exort herself tomorrow.
Sous sat on the edge of the bed and once the nurse was gone, turned to the girl with the corn rows in her hair.
"What happened?"
Faye took a breath. "I followed them to the cemetery in Baton Rouge. They found a spirit of a slave, a tormented one. One who killed her master and the master's family only to be killed herself." She paused.
"Why didn't you seek me out for help?"
"Because I didn't know if you were going to put on a charade for them or just break it off. I didn't want to mess up anything." Faye paused. "Maybe I should create a club to counteract them. Instead of the spirit catcher club, it would be spirt freers...or something...like that." A slight blush came over her nose at the horrible name. "There's a room where they keep all the dolls that belong to Hacate prior to them being sold. If we can find them room then we can release them...then we'll do what we gotta do for Dimona."
Sous nodded her head. The dolls then Dimona.
