Chapter 83 - The Next Maiden

"Mother, take rest, please. You are unwell," Mira implored Ammara. She was still in her office within the Queen's Saiyaran palace.

Ever since the queen left, Ammara hadn't taken rest. It had been eight months. She followed meetings back-to-back. The people wanted answers. There were rumors she might be dead. Rumors that the monarchy might be dissolved back to the old federation.

The nine crownworlds were pushing the Andromeda Security Council in unison to find the whereabouts of the queen. Ammara was at the front of it all, being the queen's guiding maiden. She fought hard so Andromedans could take action.

"I'll rest, daughter. Now go to your room," Ammara responded.

Mira watched as her mother struggled—endless traveling, countless meetings.

Ammara's sickness eventually rah its course.

"I love her, Mother, but I don't love her more than you."

"Remember, Mira, Eve's not just a friend. She's family."

Mira clung to her mother's dying words.

After her mother's passing, Mira grew under the fostership of the palace maids.

In college, whispers followed her, "This is the queen's to-be maiden? But she's such a dork."

Mira used to wear spectacle lenses.

"It's been four years. The queen's gone. What will become of Mira?"

Things she'd hear, and so on.

But Mira was diligent, disciplined, and dedicated.

Best grades in class. Best score in sports. Best performance in speech.

Mira was tireless... focused!

Back at the palace, she mastered what all the maidens had to go through. Her mother scored 73%; Mira scored 99%. Intergalactic Affairs. They were homeschooled in the palace, with dedicated staff and teachers.

During college, she'd already taken over affairs at the palace, corresponding with ASC and Saiyaran delegations. Visitors admired her confidence and energy.

After college, she wanted to join the military, but got rejected. Queen's maidens were not allowed to join the forces.

But Mira was stubborn.

She used the leverage of queen's palace, her social power, her contacts.

Her friends at ASC eventually paved her way into the Saiyaran military. Royal families backed her while the government opposed.

Mira was clear to her supervising elders—battle was in her genes. She wanted to be prepared for everything.

They agreed on a crash course and short-term service.

Two years of military service gave her newfound confidence and social reach, not only inside Saiyara but in ASC circles too. Now she knew how armies worked. She proved her worth both in the briefing room and on the field.

She continuously pushed the Saiyaran government and the ASC to organize a united search effort to find Eve. Whenever progress stalled, she drove the media to press harder.

It had been over seven years. Saiyaran people were joining her secret campaign. Social media brimmed with calls to find the queen. Then she took the political front, pulling threads within military and organizing strategies in the palace.

People across the crownworlds took to the streets. Protests erupted all over Andromeda. Everyone was questioning ASC's credibility and hold, while questions about the IC's role and sincerity towards Andromedans were also being raised.

The unrest forced resignations within the ASC's leadership. The newly appointed members acted swiftly, pressing the IC for answers.

A united front emerged. The ASC formed a dedicated task force, sending agents into the shadow world in search of Eve.

When tensions reached breaking point, ASC dispatched Mira as their sole representative to Cetra 9.

Standing before the Intergalactic Committee, she spoke:

"We are not just talking about some random individual. This is our queen — a Saiyaran queen, a celebrated daughter of Andromeda. The things she has done for Andromeda, for the IC — her legend will not fade into the darkness of the night. With or without the committee's support, Andromeda will move forward."

The committee knew then — Andromedans would not rest until their queen was found.

Two months later, Mira walked toward a massive spacecraft newly arrived from Cetra 9, an officer handing her a datapad. Around her, machinery roared and crews labored, building a new network of installations. A city was rising from the ground.

The president inaugurated the event—100,000 military and civilian personnel on the ground. After the inauguration, Mira and the Saiyaran army chief stood inside a watchtower, looking at a 5-kilometer-long behemoth that stood 600 meters tall.

"So, what do you want to name her?"

"We call it Nomad," Mira said, recalling Ammara's memory of Eve's words to her namesake ancestor: "It doesn't matter where I go, Mira. I'll always be a traveler, a wanderer. No matter where I am… I'll always be… a Nomad."
