Since Champa had gone out of his way to help him and his companions, Levos really could not just stand by and watch him die.
Strictly speaking, the human civilization of Universe 6 was more advanced than that of Universe 7 or Universe 9.
If universes were being erased based on that ranking, there was no way you could skip over Universe 9…
"Grand Priest, I'm sure erasing any universe is a decision made after very careful consideration. May I ask why Universe 6 was chosen?" Levos asked bluntly.
Only by knowing the reason could he figure out how to respond.
"Why?" The Grand Priest smiled faintly. "Is that not obvious? A guide angel on the brink of disappearing proves that her God of Destruction is no longer capable of fulfilling his duty."
As he spoke, his gaze settled on Vados.
The gods had already noticed that Vados's body looked somewhat transparent.
Now that the Grand Priest had pointed it out, they immediately understood.
"So it really is because Champa relied too much on his angel. Useless as always."
"That fat idiot betrayed us, dragged two mortals from Universe 7 into this mess, and helped Beerus escape erasure."
"Perfect. Now it is his turn to suffer."
"Serves him right for siding with Beerus."
"Save the gloating. What matters now is making sure those two mortals from Universe 7 do not talk the Omni-King around a second time."
"Agreed. We have to stand together. Otherwise the next universe to get erased will be one of ours."
The Gods of Destruction were already silently aligning their positions.
The Grand Priest asked mildly, "Vados, care to explain why you are in this state?"
"Grand Priest, this has nothing to do with Lord Champa," Vados stepped forward, smiling as always. "I was simply careless when using my power and ended up like this."
"Tsk tsk, after working as a full guide angel for so many years and still not finding a way to avoid that kind of risk, that is a little hard to believe, dear."
The voice came from the direction of Universe 11.
A twin-tailed female angel spoke politely, her tone soft yet barbed.
She too looked like a young girl. Her aura was very different from Vados's, but her beauty was in no way inferior.
Levos frowned.
He recognized her.
Marcarita.
Her relationship with Vados was… not exactly friendly.
"Marcarita, that is awfully nosy of you," Vados said with a sideways glance at the twin-tailed angel. Her tone grew more serious. "I am a very honest person. Why would I ever try to exploit loopholes in the rules?"
"Honest?" Marcarita curled her lip. "If you were really honest, you would not have broken even a tiny bit of the rules, dear."
"I only made a slight mistake while carrying out my duties…" Vados's brows knit together.
"Rules are rules," Marcarita replied with her eyes narrowed in a smile. "If you break them, you accept the punishment, dear."
Vados only shrugged, as if she could not be bothered to keep arguing with her.
The Grand Priest chuckled quietly.
"So, Vados, are you trying to plead for Lord Champa?"
He paused, then seemed to remember something.
"Right, someone once complained to me quite a lot. Said there was a certain God of Destruction who never exercised and overindulged in food, to the point his body shape became… rather problematic."
"And that this person painstakingly crafted healthy, well-balanced diet meals for said god, only to have them rejected with extreme distaste…"
Champa shot up from the floor like he had been stabbed, his eyes bulging.
The Grand Priest might as well have said his name out loud.
In an instant, all eyes focused on Champa.
He sat back down in a hurry and forced himself to kneel again.
"Th-that… that is outrageous! Someone out there is bad-mouthing a God of Destruction behind his back…"
Vados blinked.
"Grand Priest, that was all in the past," she said warmly.
"These days, that particular Lord has changed a great deal."
"He not only accepted the diet meals, he even promised he would start exercising regularly."
"I believe it won't be long before he recovers a healthy figure."
Champa immediately chimed in.
"Exactly! I have turned over a new leaf!"
Levos could not help rolling his eyes.
Champa, could you be any dumber?
That was basically a confession with extra steps.
Several Gods of Destruction who had been quietly worrying about their own situations now visibly relaxed.
The Grand Priest's warning had landed squarely on Champa alone.
Levos was speechless.
Still, based on his own reading of the situation, it seemed the Grand Priest and Zeno were more interested in using "universe erasure" as a threat to spur the gods forward rather than truly destroy universes outright.
The Grand Priest listened to Champa and Vados, then gave them a look with a meaning hard to read.
His eyes swept over the hall.
"If the Gods of Destruction and Supreme Kais cannot manage their universes properly for the Omni-King, then whether your universes survive or not is meaningless."
"Mm. Meaningless," Zeno echoed.
All the gods lowered their heads.
"Yes!"
At last, Levos saw his chance to interject.
He felt a bit more certain now and turned toward the Grand Priest.
"Grand Priest, Lady Vados and Lord Champa made tremendous sacrifices in order to handle the rogue Supreme Kai, Zamasu, from Universe 10."
"If not for their intervention, all twelve universes might already have fallen under Zamasu's rule."
"I ask that you reward the two of them."
Levos deliberately brought up the Zamasu incident.
He wanted to know whether the Grand Priest was aware of it and where he stood.
The hall erupted.
"Zamasu from Universe 10's Supreme Kai ranks? Who is that supposed to be?"
"According to the intel my spies gathered, Zamasu was a trainee Supreme Kai in Universe 10, disciple of Gowasu."
"In that case, does that mean Gowasu was killed by this Zamasu, and the destruction also dragged down Universe 10's God of Destruction, Rumsshi?"
"But ruling over all twelve universes? That is absurd."
"A rogue trainee Supreme Kai could be handled with a single finger from any God of Destruction."
"Mortals from Universe 7 really have no shame, exaggerating Zamasu's strength just to make Champa look good."
"Trying to use this to get Universe 6 off the hook is ridiculous."
"We just need to sit back and watch. The Grand Priest will see through that lie at a glance."
The gods talked over each other in all tones of mockery.
Supreme Kai Shin wanted to speak up for Levos, but he was afraid of showing disrespect before the Omni-King and Grand Priest and did not dare utter a word.
As for Beerus, he clearly had reservations and stayed silent.
Anything he said would be dismissed by the other Gods of Destruction anyway.
He might even drag Universe 7 right back into danger.
At that critical moment, Goku said solemnly,
"Ah-Zen, Levos is telling the truth."
The hall quieted noticeably.
"Really?" Zeno asked.
"Yeah! And there were a whole lot of Zamasus," Goku added.
"Oh? Is that so?" The Grand Priest raised a brow. "Then, Mr. Levos, why don't you tell us exactly what Lord Champa and Vados did?"
Levos still felt like the Grand Priest was trying to fish for more information.
But since he had decided to help Universe 6, he had to lay it all out.
He recounted how Zamasu had thrown countless timelines into chaos, one by one.
"…In order to stop Zamasu from polluting the entire universe," Levos finished, "Lady Vados nearly sacrificed her life."
