For a second, she just looked at him.
Her eyes froze that same sharp silver, but softer somehow. Like she was searching for something in his face and couldn't find it.
Then her expression changed in seconds, like none of it mattered anymore.
Before Kael could say anything, her fist came flying straight at him.
He barely had time to dodge. The hit landed against his shoulder with a dull thud, but it was strong enough to make him grumble.
"Get out!" she snapped, her voice rising, shaking a little. "Before I scream and call the guards. They'll drag you out in the worst way possible."
Kael just looked at her and then smiled.
Not nervous. Not scared. Just that same small, shameless smile that made her blood boil.
"I'm going, I'm going," he said lazily, lifting his hands like in surrender. "You don't have to threaten me. I can do anything you say, like a loyal lover should, right?"
