Chapter 228 - Ninth Life, Shield of Despair

Not only was Morax locked in fierce combat, but on the other side, Azhdaha was also struggling against four gods and thousands of their followers.

But Azhdaha was no easy prey. Mastering all five elements, he unleashed devastating area-of-effect attacks that tore through the battlefield.

"Where the hell did this guy come from!? How can he possibly be this strong?" One of the gods fighting Azhdaha was completely overwhelmed.

"What trick did that War God Morax use? How could he subdue a monster like this and make it fight for him?"

"This bastard's defense is insane. No matter how hard we hit, we can't break through his shield!"

The four gods regrouped, watching helplessly as Azhdaha slaughtered their forces, their frustration mounting.

The Azhdaha wielded Hydro and Electro with deadly precision. First, he drenched them in water—inescapable and pervasive. The moment even a drop touched them, lightning would crash down in an instant.

He could also unleash wide-ranging Pyro and Cryo attacks.

And at the core of his defense was Geo—the thickest shield wrapped around his massive body, nearly impossible to pierce.

The result was devastating: Azhdaha could slaughter them at will, while their own attacks bounced off uselessly.

"If the four of us gods and all these minions can't even bring down this damn turtle, we'll be a laughingstock!"

With a furious roar, one god dove down from the sky, launching himself straight at Azhdaha.

The other three exchanged a quick glance before rushing in as well.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions rang out one after another, reducing the battlefield to rubble and craters.

CRACK!

A sharp sound split the air. Under the combined assault of the four gods, Azhdaha's geo shield finally shattered.

"Not bad, little flies," Azhdaha rumbled, almost in admiration.

But just as they thought they had finally broken through, a new blue shield instantly wrapped around him, impenetrable as before.

The four gods froze in disbelief.

"How the hell does that bastard still have a shield!?"

"Today, it's to the death!!"

Driven into a frenzy, the four gods launched themselves at Azhdaha once more.

After five relentless hours of combat—four gods and thousands of followers hammering away at him—they finally managed to shatter the blue shield.

"Kill this bastard!!!"

But as their cheers rose, yet another barrier appeared around Azhdaha—this one known as the Shield of Despair.

"You think you can break through this old man's shield?"

Azhdaha sneered, clearly enjoying their despair.

Even the most arrogant gods fell silent at his taunts. His shields were driving them to madness.

"I've had enough! You hold him off—I'm heading straight for their lair!"

Hearing this, the other three gods reluctantly agreed. Continuing like this was pointless. They had already been worn down by Azhdaha's defenses, and none of them had any will left to keep trying to break his shield.

"Fine! Then let's do it!" They accepted the plan and immediately sprang into action.

"Follow me into Liyue! The rest of you hold this iron-shelled bastard here—don't let him return!"

Led by the god, over a hundred followers swept past Azhdaha and charged straight toward Liyue.

"With this old man here, let's see who dares to pass!"

Azhdaha stomped heavily, his massive frame sending tremors through the earth. Thunder surged violently from his body, darkening the sky. The suffocating pressure made every foe tense as if facing certain death.

"Hold him off!"

The three remaining gods rushed him again, trying desperately to keep him from interfering.

Azhdaha's offense was overwhelming, his range immense, and his defense unshakable. But he had one glaring weakness—he was far too massive.

His colossal form made agility impossible. All he could do was unleash wide, devastating elemental barrages to block their way.

But even the broadest of attacks had limits. One god, leading his followers, slipped around Azhdaha's bulk, bypassing him entirely and charging straight for Liyue.

"This is bad..." Azhdaha's heart sank.

He prepared to pursue but realized with a pang of dread that he might not catch up in time. Worse still, he couldn't allow himself to chase.

A battle of this magnitude fought near Liyue would devastate the land. The fragile mortals there wouldn't even survive the aftershocks of the clash.

"That side... I can only hope the Adepti will stop him..." Azhdaha thought grimly. His eyes burned red as his aura exploded outward, surging with unstoppable fury.

Not a single god could be allowed to leave. They had to be stopped here.

At that same moment, the Adepti stationed at the foot of Mount Tianheng sensed the god's approach, along with the vast horde of followers surging with him.

"Not a single monster must enter Liyue! This is our duty!!"

In an instant, countless traps locked onto the god charging toward Liyue.
