Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: Last Guardian of the Dungeon, Chimera

We were surprised as we met a giant, big chimera in front of us. Chimera are usually a strong monster that is combined from several animals. This chimera has a lion's head, tiger's legs, goat's legs, snake's head as its tail, and bat's wings. The chimera looks so scary, it's way too strong for a hunter. If this thing is here, maybe the Guild Master didn't know if this dungeon is more dangerous than he thought. Damn, the previous information is still lingering in my head.

I don't think if this chimera was once a human, but based on the note there is the possibility. I don't know which is right or wrong, but it doesn't look like a human in my eyes. No matter which is right or wrong, we need to beat this monster so we can get through. The Guild Master is lying, it's not just a quick check!

The chimera growls at us with a loud voice. A shiver runs down into my spin, my body keeps telling me this creature is very dangerous. Its eyes are looking at us with sharp gaze like we're its prey.

Leo speaks up with a serious tone, "I think this situation is dangerous. We're in danger."

Loir chuckles and speaks up as well, "Right, maybe we're really in danger now. It will be a miracle if all of us can get out of the dungeon safely. But maybe we can't avoid minor injuries."

Lunette speaks in a teasing tone in her voice, "Minor injuries? Let's think about that later if we really only get minor injuries."

I think they're trying to lighten the situation, maybe one of some good options knowing we're going through a deadly battle. I don't have time to think about whether it was once a human or not, but it's still bothering me no matter what.

Lunette pats my back and speaks up while trying to encourage me, "I don't care if this thing was once a human or not, but the thing in front of us right now is a monster."

Maybe it's her way of encouraging me. She always knows what I'm thinking or bothering me. I think she's right, something in front of us is a monster. We need to survive for now.

The chimera growls at us and locks its gaze at us. This monster really wants to kill us right now. The chimera charges towards us really quickly, almost like a bull. We don't have any choice except to separate and avoid it. Once it hits a pillar, the pillar that looks so thick and hard is broken by it. But the attack doesn't stop just like that, the snake's head attacks Lunette very fast. Luckily, Lunette had time to block it with her sword, it was so close.

Again, the chimera jumps and lands in front of us before growling again. Its voice is very loud, my ears almost break every time it's growling. Then, the chimera launches its attack using its claw at me. I want to block the attack first, but my instinct tells me to avoid it, so I choose to avoid it by jumping to the left. Once I dodged it, I looked at it and noticed the chimera created a hole in the ground with its attack. Maybe avoiding it was a good choice or it would crush my body into my bones.

The chimera doesn't give us any slight chance to rest, it charges towards Leo and tries to attack him. Leo uses his magic to make the ground around him become liquid, then the chimera loses its balance and drowns into the ground. Loir and Lunette quickly attack it with their weapons, but the snake blocks their attack. Then, the chimera moves quickly towards Leo and hits him. The chimera sends him flying and Leo hits the wall behind him.

Leo grunts in pain and coughs blood, before trying to compose himself from the shock. It must be hurtful for him, I can tell if there are one or two bones broken inside his body. The chimera gets out from the liquid ground to show itself. I was wondering, how can the monster move so quickly in the water, but once the chimera showed itself, it explained it. I can see there are membranes in its fingers. I don't know if this animal has a water animal's features as well. I think we're cooked right now.

The chimera glares at me, its gaze even can easily make a man cry. After staring at me for a while, the chimera growls again and charges towards me. I think it has an ability to stun their enemies with their growl, or maybe put anyone in a panic condition. If I can't pull myself together, I'm really gonna be cooked. Come on, pull yourself together, Luna!

The chimera tries to land an attack at me, but I use my magic to create a wall of ice. The attack is very heavy and it keeps trying to get through the wall almost like force digging it. I don't have any other choice except to keep covering the hole that the chimera makes. My mana keeps drained each second, and the chimera is still forcing itself to break the wall.

"Good job, Luna!" Lunette says while wielding her sword to attack the chimera that glued on me.

Without any hesitation, I trapped its front legs in the ice wall that I made before. Of course, why haven't I thought about it before? This is more useful than patching the wall over and over. Lunette tries to get above its body, but the snake keeps bothering her way and knocks her back pretty far. Loir uses his scythe from his back and activates his magic. His eyes change and his pupils make a rhombus shape like a scar.

Loir charges towards the chimera and begins to attack it. Like always, the snake keeps blocking our way with its quick attack. The snake attacks Loir, but Loir was able to avoid it and slashed its right eye. The snake and lion scream in pain at the same time. Then, the chimera releases its front legs from my wall and turns its gaze to Loir.

I shouted at Loir with a hurried tone to warn him, "Loir, be careful! It broke free from my ice and it's after you now!"

Loir speaks in a calm demeanor at me, "It's okay, I can handle this." He begins to use his scythe to slash the air around him.

What is he planning?! The chimera is running at him and he is just playing his weapon just like that?! Its attack can easily crush you into pieces, even break your bones into ashes!!

He just stands there while the chimera is coming against him. Rest in peace, Loir. I won't forget every one of your lessons. Lunette puts her hand on her chest as if she's honoring someone who's dead. Leo chuckles as well at her randomness but eventually stands up as he's ready again. Though, he's just playing along as well and acts as if he's saying "We won't forget all of your service until now." I can't believe we're joking around even in a deadly battle, I can't help but put a palm on my forehead.

The chimera is about to attack him after reaches in front of him. Loir is still standing like waiting for something with his scythe in his hand and his magic still activated. I don't know what he's planning but trust me, that's not a good idea. The chimera attacks him, but before its claw lands on his body, its front leg is torn apart and it screams in pain as it's running away.

What's just happening? How did he do that? I think we won't have a funeral for now, thank god. Maybe I underestimated him too much, he's not like Lunette who always gets into a front line without thinking.

Leo gets into his side and asks him, "What is that?" He sounded like he's really interested and curious about what just happened.

Loir speaks up to explain what he just does, "Wind scars. It will slash everything that touches it, but it will disappear after anything touches it or if I run out of mana."

"Then, why don't you just do it in the first place?" I asked him with a curious tone in my voice.

He speaks to explain it again, "It drains my mana a lot, you know? And it's more like a trap than an attack, so it will be useless if that chimera doesn't touch it."

Of course, it doesn't like it's able to move anyway. If it can move we probably won't have any difficulty fighting against this monster. Why didn't it cross my mind before?

"Guys, it's coming again, get ready." Lunette speaks to warn us about the chimera that is coming against us.

We quickly grab our weapons and prepare ourselves to break one or two of our bones, or maybe more. I hope it won't become worse than now. As the chimera comes at us, Loir and Leo charge at it as well. Meanwhile, me and Lunette ready our guns for a mid range attack.

I speak to her as I see her ready her gun, "You finally use Drayvorn. I think it will be better if you do it in the first place."

Lunette chuckles at me then turns serious again, "It's hard to use, you know? If your Liric and Eirys drain your mana so badly, mine is so hard to control. The recoil is too strong even for one shot."

Leo and Loir finally right in front of the chimera and they start fighting. The chimera uses its palm to attack them, but they jump and Leo uses his magic to trap its front leg. Leo turns the floor into liquid then turns it into solid again, technically making it stuck. But the chimera doesn't just let it get stuck, it pulls its front leg and breaks the floor. Loir uses his scythe during that time to give it several injuries. The chimera screams in pain but then sweeps them off. Gladly, they're able to guard themselves so they don't get any serious damage.

As the chimera runs towards Leo and Loir, me and Lunette use our guns to shoot its body. My guns don't give it any heavy damage, but I'm able to fire it in succession. On the other hand, Lunette seems very focused on aiming at the chimera with a surprising focus. The tense is kind of heavy when she's aiming at it.

"Etheria Style Shooting Technique, Aurora Snipe," said Lunette while focusing on the chimera.

This technique is one of the Shooting Techniques in Etheria Style that shoot a bullet from a very far place. We need a high accuracy and a high focus to use this technique. Lunette is just standing still, aiming at the chimera and waiting for the chance. She can't let out any chance after all, if she misses it she needs to wait again to charge the mana for the next attack and it takes quite a long time.

Once there is a chance, Lunette pulls the trigger to fire the gun and BOOM, it hits its body directly! Her Drayvorn focused all her mana in one place then shot it with a high speed and high pressure. It was a long, powerful, long-ranged shot and focused at one point. Once it hits the chimera body, an explosion occurs and knocks it back then burns its body. The chimera went berserk with its burning body. Its wings are burnt and unable to use it anymore, though the chimera didn't show it before. Poor chimera, lost its ability even before showing it off.

Leo and Loir were surprised by what just happened. They don't let the chance go and quickly attack the chimera up and down. The chimera is still shocked by Lunette's attack so it is unable to move properly. Lunette coughs a bit, maybe using Drayvorn is burdening her body more than we think.

"This is why I don't like to use my gun." Says Lunette with a hint of tiredness in her voice. Of course she's tired, even one shoot needs a lot of mana.

I pats her back to give her reassurance and says, "Don't worry, let's hope we don't need to use it that much."

She nodded at me then put her gun again and pulled out her sword, ready for a close combat. I don't think she can use Drayvorn that much, she's tired already after one shot. The chimera is still struggling to stand up, it just grunts like a normal beast that is injured. I put my guns down as well since my guns aren't powerful enough to beat it and pull my sword. I follow Lunette from behind and all of us, including Leo and Loir, ready to beat it.

We reached in front of its body and started attacking the chimera using our magic and weapons. Loir uses his magic to create some wind scars on its body to attack it. Leo uses his knives to attack its legs so it won't be able to balance its body even if it can move its body. Lunette casts a barrage of fireballs towards the chimera and targets its stomach. The snake's head tries to attack us to defend its body, but I block it by using my magic. I created a wall of ice so it won't be able to attack us.

"Take this, you snake!!" I said while trying to defend my party from the snake.

The chimera is unable to do anything and only able to scream in pain as we continue our attack. After a while, the chimera is weakened and barely can stand. Is this our victory? Did we manage to beat it? The chimera lies on the ground weakly, it can barely growl anymore.

Loir speaks in a worried tone but pretty loud, "Everyone, get back. I will finish it, but I don't know what will happen so you better prepare yourself." He raises his scythe and he's going to stab the lion's head.

We nod and step back from its body while Loir is right in front of its face. Thank god, I think we can manage it this time somehow. Maybe we need to inform the Guild Master about this after we get out of this dungeon. This dungeon is insane, we're only a party made by four people. Two pro hunters and two beginners, it was too much for us. I can barely feel my feet anymore. I can see everyone's tired faces right now, though it is now over. As for the information, I don't know what to do, this will change our perspective about this world completely.

My eyes are locked on the ground as I keep thinking about the information that we got in the thirteenth level of the dungeon. I frowned a bit, not knowing what to do with it. Then, something rolled and hit my feet. I'm back from spacing out as I feel it, but I was surprised by what I just saw. It's a head, more precisely, it's Loir's head. I quickly tilt my head up to see what happened, and I see his body is just lying on the ground lifelessly. How?

My eyes widen as I see what's next to his body. It's the chimera, but its whole body is now black. The bat's wings and the snake's head fell off from its body. Its body is much smaller from before, but the aura is more intimidating. Me, Leo, and Lunette can't help but be surprised by its appearance now, especially after Loir's death. I thought it was over, but it wasn't over.

"Loir?" My voice is hoarse and full of fear. I can't believe what it just did to him. I think it was wrong for us to joke around against the dungeon boss.

The chimera walks forward to us with an intimidating look. The tension is very heavy, almost it will devour all of us by only looking into its eyes. I don't think we have a stance on it. I mean, its body is really smaller than before, but I can feel the mana is overflowing to its body. It doesn't have a pair of wings anymore, maybe because they don't need it anymore.

My legs are shaking, of course, after what we saw right in front of us. My mind goes empty again as if the trauma attacks me again. I started thinking again if we didn't leave Loir, would it be better or not. I know it was too late, but what if? The cold wind breeze through my skin, it's much colder than before. The tension is so heavy and the pressure is so strong, almost like it can crush our body just with its stare. I can feel my strength leaving my legs and I feel a deep fear as if it can crush me only by its stare. Of course, I can't accept his death so easily like Lunette or Leo, or maybe I'm just the one who is being weird?

Lunette chuckles and speaks with a hint of fear, "I think we're cooked. Second phase, really? Me and Luna are just newcomers in a hunter's world, and you give us this?." Then she gulps a bit to compose herself and shouts, "'Just a quick check' he said? It's way too much for us, that old man, I'll make sure to kill him if we manage to survive this."

Leo chuckles as well with a fearful tone as well but trying to keep his smile, "I think you're right, let's kill that old man so he can catch up with Loir on the other side." He's scared as well, but he tries to act tough to encourage us. Since Loir is dead, the pro hunter left here is only Leo. I need to pull myself as well.

The chimera runs towards us at high speed. To be honest, its movements are faster and lighter than before. Somewhat, it's been half way into us just with a second. Really? It's much scarier and faster than before, and I don't think we can win this time. The chimera attacks us constantly as if they want to kill us without any mercy and crush our bodies. Its eyes are sharp as an eagle's, its strength is as powerful as an elephant's, and its speed is as fast as a cheetah's. What a perfect creature it is.

We jumped aside and dodged it, but it was just very close. We were almost unable to make it in time. I roll and try to compose myself, but when I look back at it, it's already in front of me and ready to attack me again. Lunette uses Drayvorn's attack on the chimera, but the chimera avoids it even before the attack hits it. Maybe Drayvorn is too slow since it needs time to charge and shoot even if it's faster than magic. Liric and Eirys would probably hit it, but it won't cause much damage.

I created a bunch of walls with my ice magic to defend myself, but the chimera just ram it carelessly. The chimera broke four of five walls that I made. The walls are big and pretty strong, but the chimera through four of it anyway, how can it be much stronger than before?! I think I'm dead, I'm cooked. I hope I get a better life next time. The crack keeps spreading on my ice. Crack! Crack! I don't know if I can hold on any longer. The fear is taking over my body and I can barely control it. If I'm not careful, my magic will quickly disappear and I'm dead. Our magic is connected with our emotions after all, and it will affect our magic in its own way.

"Take this, you little tail!" She shouts and jumps towards its back.

Lunette cuts the snake part from the chimera and it growls in pain then kicks Lunette far away. I think I'm saved by Lunette for now, but Lunette was sent flying pretty far, it must be hurt. It's almost like she's flying like a free bird, farewell, Lunette.

She hits the wall and she coughs blood a little, and a bruise appears on her back, seems pretty serious. Leo gives the chimera a second attack at its back legs to limit its movement. The chimera falls down, but still doesn't give up yet. It growls with a loud voice again to stun us. I think I need to do something to those growls! Our bodies always freeze for a while every time it growls as if it has some effect.

But really, it's much weaker compared to before, but its attack, speed, and reaction is more deadly than before. Maybe the chimera uses all of its strength to kill its enemies, not to survive.

The chimera sweeps Leo and bites his left arm.

"ARGGHH!!" Leo screams in pain.

Leo is really in pain, of course, but then he tries to release his arm by stabbing the chimera's eye with his right hand while grabbing a knife. I use my sword to slash its stomach as well to help Leo release his arm. The chimera finally releases his arm by sending Leo flying and hits a wall, meanwhile Leo loses his left arm. I quickly run towards Leo to help him, but the chimera is chasing me from behind. Luckily, Lunette shoots her magic at its body to slow down its movement.

"Leo!! Are you okay?!" I reached his body and looked at his injuries, "Of course you're not!! How dumb of me!!" I began to panic inside, unable to think clearly after seeing the blood keep pouring out from Leo's body.

I quickly use my magic to freeze his left arm to stop the bleeding. I hope it will last until we arrive at Euler. Though, we need to kill it first before we…Can't we just escape from it? I look at the exit, but my hope quickly disappears as soon as I see the exit is covered by rubble. Of course it is, why do I think Loir doesn't tell us to escape if we can? There is a huge hole in the ceiling, what if… Of course we can't!! Humans can't fly, dummy!!

Leo chuckles at me while trying to hold the pain, "Luna, you're so funny when you're in panic. Just calm down, sweetheart."

I grit my teeth and shout at him, "There is no time to laugh, Leo!! If you have any energy to laugh just try to stand up!!" Of course, he isn't. He's just acting tough to calm me down. Why is my head always useless everytime I'm in panic?!

Leo smiles at me to give reassurance then puts a fist on my chest to encourage me. He's very weak right now, but he still forces himself to support me mentally. I smiled at him as I received his courage.

"Why don't you just rest for a while and let me take care of this, senior?" I speak with a neutral tone to not make him worried.

Leo chuckles and says, "Okay, okay. I'll just sleep here until you're done dealing with that cat. In my eyes, the chimera is not going to live that long. It burns its life to get more strength, make sure to beat it with Lunette, Luna."

I nod and lay his head gently on the ground. I walked away from Leo and pulled out a grimoire that I got from the Phantasia before. Based on what I remember from that shopkeeper, grimoire will give us a new ability. That time I failed, but I don't think I will fail this time!

I open the grimoire and some writings come out from the book slowly. I can't read any of this, but somehow I understand what's the meaning of it. I can feel my brain is filled with a magic ability, how to use it, how to activate it, the weakness, the strength, and how it works. So this is what he means by ability, huh? It's almost like the contents of the book are flowing from the book, through my hand, and get into my brain. I see, so this is how grimoire works.

Magic comes from brain activity and is created by magic nerves in the brain. Our body absorbs mana through our skin as a fuel for magic. It's connected directly to our eyes, that's why our eyes always change every time we activate our magic. The brain forms the pupils based on the magic's type. Then, the mana is connected through our heart and flows throughout our bodies, making our bodies covered by magic. That's why we're able to bring out magic everywhere near our bodies.

Grimoire is using the same methods and flowing from our hand to brain through our heart. The words keep coming out from the book and turn into mana and flowing into my hand as I absorb the mana. I can feel it reached my heart and went to my brain as I started learning about the book. It feels like I'm remembering the memories that I lost a long time ago. It's more like an item to record about technique and seal the mana into words more than a book than a book.

After the words stop coming out, the grimoire burns itself. In a short time, the book is burned and leaves no trace that the book ever existed. Right, the shop keeper said the book will be burnt after we used it, no second chance. It feels so sucks, like cheating in a test.

"Lunette! Let's do this together!" I shout at Lunette and start running towards the chimera. I feel more brave right now, thanks to Leo.

To be honest, I don't think Lunette can handle this by herself. I can tell she's almost at her limit while fighting the chimera. She's clashing her sword against its claw in fierce. Her breath is getting heavier and heavier now, it's almost like she can't hold it anymore. The chimera's every attack is heavy and quick, making it more difficult by the time.

I run towards them and prepare myself to get into the fight one more time. As I reach them, I wield my sword and swing it towards the chimera's body with my full power. I filled my sword with my own mana until it reached its limit. Once I'm in front of it, I swing my sword with all of my strength.

"Take this!!" I use my magic and sword at the same time against the chimera.

When my sword touches its body, a huge ice appears and freezes its entire body. Lunette was surprised by the effect of my magic. Her jaw dropped and her eyes widened in surprise. Of course, I'm surprised as well. I never thought it would have such a big effect. Half of its body is frozen with my ice and difficult to move or break free.

Lunette chuckles and smirks before speaking with a hint of excitement in her tone, "Good, Luna! Leave everything to me now!"

Right, it uses mana more than I thought, I don't think I could move again now. Maybe leaving everything to her right now is the best option. I just let my body fall back and sit on the ground limply. I can barely stand up right now.

Lunette uses her magic and keeps attacking the chimera with all of her mana as if it was the final attack of her. She creates a barrage of fireballs and attacks it nonstop while the ice is melting by the flame. She doesn't care if the ice melts or if the chimera can break free from the ice, though there is no energy left for the chimera to move. The view is covered by smoke from the flame, almost impossible to see anything at the moment. The air is very hot due to the rising temperature by Lunette's magic, and the air becomes thick every second. The sweat keeps pouring from my body from the heat.

"FINAL ATTACK!" She shouts with a loud voice and prepares for the last attack.

The smoke finally clears and showing the chimera weakened state, it can't stand anymore. The chimera grunts and growls while trying to stand itself, but it's too weak to do that. Even its voice that can stun us before, now is almost like a beast's whine.

Lunette doesn't give it any mercy and shapes the fire into a giant fire sword while holding it in the air. Isn't it very bad? What if her magic hits me as well? I'm in the range, though. Lunette!! Don't over do it!!

Lunette shouts and throws the giant sword shaped flame towards the chimera with all of her power, "DIE, YOU LITTLE CAT!!"

The fire moves to the chimera's body, slowly but surely. It's not reached its body yet, but the heat is too hot and I can feel my heart almost burn only by breathing the air. The chimera's fur is burning slowly as the magic slowly approaches its body.

Lunette grabs my body and drags me while running away from her own magic. Wait, does it mean she realizes that she's overdoing it?! That dumb!! She runs away with a smile on her face while bringing me on her shoulder. I don't know why but this condition is kind of embarrassing, or maybe awkward.

I can't help but pinch her cheek with my hand, "Lunette, you overdone it, you know?"

She chuckles at me and says, "I know, but I just got carried away."

After we're far enough, the fire sword gets through the chimera's body and starts burning its body. The flame is spreading on its body, and half of its body is covered by flame and burned. Every second, the fire spreads to its whole body as the chimera growls in pain. The chimera is struggling to stand up since it's too weak to move, plus the fire keeps burning around its body and almost covers its body completely.

We're almost reached Leo's place, at least it's pretty far and safe from the explosion. We can see Leo's tired form lying on the ground with closed eyes, maybe he's sleeping right? I think he's very exhausted until we need to wake him up later.

The fire covers all of its body and turns into a giant fireball with the chimera inside. We can barely hear its growl anymore, its body completely covered by the fireball. The fireball is becoming smaller and smaller each second and focusing into one point until it can't be smaller anymore then… BOOM!! It exploded and burnt the chimera into ashes.

Lunette drops me down onto the ground and screams with excitement. Don't say if she's doing it on purpose so she can see this view. It's almost like we're watching a firework right now. I can see her excited face never faltering as she sees the chimera is returning to its normal, but lifeless as its body turns into ashes slowly.

Lunette sighs in relief and speaks to me, "I think it's over now. The chimera is only an ash now." She laughs as the nightmare is over.

I nod at her and speak with a relieved tone, "It's a shame that Loir isn't with us anymore. So, it's only the three of us that survive from this dungeon. But why didn't you use that magic before?"

She looks away from me and smiles nervously, "I have my own reason too, you know? I need to cast it for a long time and I really need quite a lot of mana to cast it. You know the bigger our magic is, the more time we need to cast, right?"

I nod in agreement, what she said is true. I continue to ask here with a curious tone, "But it is taking that long to cast?"

She nods and speaks again to me with a tired tone, "Yes, it is. If I can do it faster I will finish it from the first time we meet the chimera, right? And thanks to that I can't use my magic anymore, I'm not brave enough to spend my entire mana since that can kill me."

Right, if our body doesn't have mana anymore we will be dead. Our mana is our life itself, we can't waste all of it. But now I'm kind of curious about the knight's note. It says that back from before mana or magic didn't exist in the human body. It's completely contrary to our law right now where if we don't have magic anymore we will be dead. Anyway, I think we only need to find more information about this. I think we have another goal to achieve.

Half of the chimera's body has turned into ashes, only leaving its claws, fangs, wings that fell off after it transformed, and its tail with snake form. I think we should collect some of the chimera parts to sell so we finally can get an income. Today is a very tiring day, too much information and incidents until I hardly understand it. I think I should just wake Leo up then get out of this dungeon.

"Leo!! Wake up!! There is no time to sleep, this is not funny!!" I heard Lunette shouting those words while shaking Leo's body vigorously.

I quickly look at them and run towards them to see the condition. What does she mean? It's not real, right? Once I reached right in front of Leo's body, I could see his lifeless form right in front of us. It was too late, Leo was unable to survive too. Really? It's too funny, after we were having fun even in the dungeon, and went through many difficulties, it's only the two of us that survive? This must be a joke.

I can't help but cry as the sadness wells up inside me. Lunette pats my back to comfort me, though she's showing her sad face as well. She's not crying, probably trying to act tough for me. There is no other voice around us, only my sobs and cries, and Lunette's pat at my back. This is a nightmare, I can't believe this happened. The room filled with sadness and sorrow, only leaving us in the silent room with the two corpses and the chimera corpses.

The tears stream down my face and there is no sign of stop. My sobs filled the silence in the room. I don't understand why Lunette can stay calm in this situation. Though, I can see her sadness towards her face even if she tries to hide it. My hands are trembling in fear. My heart feels so empty and my brain feels like it stops working and is filled with eternal sadness. I keep wiping off the tears from my eyes, but it keeps escaping from my eyes no matter how hard I try. I think I need some time to calm myself for now.

After a while, we composed ourselves and looted the parts of the chimera's body and put it on the bag, though the bag wasn't that big so we could barely loot all of it. We manage to go outside the dungeon and we walk through the forest to reach Euler City. The silence is too much for us to bear, almost there are some spaces in our conversation. It's not that awkward, but after all of this, only the two of us from four people. This sucks.

We reached the Euler City and quickly made our way to the Guild. We tell the Guild Master about everything we've been through in the dungeon. We tell him about Loir and Leo's death in the dungeon and about the chimera that hunted us on a deeper level.

"IS THAT TRUE, LUNA AND LUNETTE?!!" He slams the table as he shouts at us.

I can't help but cover my ears with my hands as I speak, "Guild Master, can you tone down a bit? You almost break my ears."

Lunette nods vigorously at him and repeatedly.

We hand the note from the knight and the parts from the chimera to the Guild Master. He quickly accepts it and starts reading it while inspecting it just in case there is anything strange about it. The result is… Everything is real, he can't believe it but the proof is right in front of him.

The Guild Master speaks with a stern and serious tone, "Luna, Lunette, don't tell anyone about this note. It will change everyone's perspective about monsters and demi-human."

We nodded in agreement as we had the same thought. It's not good if everyone knows about this. The first monsters are mutated humans because they can't adjust to the overflowing mana back day? And no wonder if demi-humans have more abilities compared to humans, because they were mutated by mana long ago. But we don't know the cause why they were slaughtered in the dungeon.

I speak with a convincing tone and try to give them the information I get from Nio, "Nio said magic doesn't exist before the first hero came to this world. I don't know how far the truth is, but according to what he said, there are only a few people that can use magic and that was the demi-humans. Based on the note, the tragedy happened so far even before the first hero came to this world."

All of them were surprised by what I just said. Of course, it's not something that easy to accept. I can see the Guild Master's jaw dropped as if the hinges were off from his jaw. Lunette shakes her head and Big Sister Wave facepalms her forehead.

"Then, I'll continue. If the Book of Origin is the highest level of magic book in this world, it must be related to this. As we know, the world's condition is the same as the world where the first hero first came to this world. Someone must search it and return the world back to normal again."

The atmosphere is very thick and heavy. We're in a serious situation where everything is serious and not funny. But my twin sister stretches her body and yawns like we're lazing around at our home. Big Sister Wave chuckles at Lunette's behavior and the Guild Master shakes his head in amusement, the tension becomes lighter because of Lunette. I just tilted my head in confusion, then Big Sister Wave patted my head.

Lunette speaks as she yawns a bit, "So, we only need to find the book and all the problems are solved, right? Our revenge and the world's condition. Let's do it, Luna." She looks at me with a confident expression and smile.

I just sigh, knowing she will drag me again like usual. We walked away from the room and stretched our bodies outside the room to relax ourselves after the serious conversation. I looked at the letter about the permission to another country, maybe he wants us to deliver the letter into another country so we have a reason to get inside the country. I don't know if I can do another quest right now after having two people die on the previous quest. It was an accident and nothing we can do, but I hope there is something we can do.

Big Sister Wave hugs us from behind and puts her face between our shoulders and speaks, "I was worried, you know? I was scared that I would lose you two after I lost your parents. Please, don't worry me again in the future, okay? Then I'll let you travel to each city and begin your journey."

Lunette speaks up with a teasing tone as she laughs, "Big sister, you're such a scaredy cat, huh? Don't worry, we will find the book and return as a person who can beat you one day." Her tone is somewhat heard like she's underestimating her.

Big Sister Wave pinches her cheek with a slight hint of annoyance and speaks, "In your dream, kiddo."

I smile as well and nod before speaking up as well, "Of course, we will stay safe. For ourselves and for you too."

She smiles at us and speaks with her glassy eyes, "You both are really reckless like your father, you know? And you both are kind just like your mother."

She looks at me with a warm smile while continuing pinching Lunette's cheek. Lunette grunts in pain having her cheek pinched by our big sister and tries to release her grip. I can see her cheek is very red and almost ripped from her face. I think we should have a rest for now, then we will plan everything tomorrow. Maybe she knows that she can't stop Lunette to begin her journey as well as me.

We went to our home then had a party to have me and Lunette safe with several injuries. We have our bodies covered by many bandages. At least we're still alive, that's all for now. Lunette and Big Sister Wave start their sibling fight again like always. They go outside and have a spar while I'm just watching and yawning from the side. I don't understand how Lunette can still have enough strength to do this. Lunette pulls her sword, Aurius, and Big Sister Wave with her wooden sword. I can see her face completely underestimating Lunette at this point.

We continued our night having fun together then slept until morning. A few weeks later, we woke up and prepared ourselves at the front door.

"Lunette, there is nothing left behind, right?" I asked her with a slight doubt.

She shakes her head and speaks, "Nope, everything is safe. It's time to leave our home, huh?"

We look at our big sister and wave our hands at her. She gives us a warm smile and waves back her hand at us. Her expression is very gentle and mature right now, maybe because we're going to leave the house for a long time. We walked away from our house and reached the city's gate.

"Big Sister, see you later. Take care!!" I said to her as I continued following Lunette from behind.

She nods at us then turns around and walks to the Guild Master. We continue our journey to the next stop.

"I can't wait for what happens next, right Luna?" Lunette asks me with excitement in her tone.

I nodded at her and answered, "I hope nothing bad happens again next. I wonder how Future City, Nexus look."

We continue our conversation as we walk to Future City, Nexus. I can't wait to see how it looks. The Guild Master told us to give this letter to someone in that city, and he said the first hero once went there as well. I think we will get some information in that city about the Book of Origin.
