When Harry saw the data of his newly published book immediately showing so many collections and recommendations, along with a 500 Coin tip, he jumped up in excitement!
"What's going on? How did I get so many recommendations and collections this fast? Someone even tipped?! Is the beginning of my book really that explosive??"
Harry couldn't even believe his eyes. After refreshing the page, he noticed a few more collections and clicks, which made him even more excited.
With a thrilled heart, Harry quickly opened the book's comment section to take a look. To his even greater excitement, there were already over a dozen comments!
: Found a potential gem! Works with such a distinct, non mainstream style and such good writing are too rare nowadays! Bookmarked! Highly recommended!
: This opening doesn't follow the usual formula… After being used to Web's golden three chapter rule, this kind of opening is really interesting! Got hooked immediately!
Amiga: Worth a read! Looking forward to more!
Weigge℡ ﹍: Update soon! Tipped 500 Coin, author keep it up!
: I'm putting it out here, I'll never spend a single cent on reading books. If I ever break this rule, may I be beaten to death by Dio's Ora Ora. Mark my words.
…
Harry read through all of them. There were 18 comments in total, almost all positive, with only two being random remarks.
The more Harry read, the more unbelievable it felt, and his confidence soared.
Based on past experience, when publishing a book on Web, getting 1,000 clicks and 10 collections in the first hour after being added to the new book inventory was already considered pretty good.
But for him, it had only been a few minutes?
"Could it be because it's posted in Web's free channel? Logically, a newly created channel like this shouldn't have much traffic…"
Feeling somewhat incredulous, Harry opened a few other books that were added to the inventory at the same time. Indeed, the free channel's books did have higher click rates, and the collections were noticeably more than on Web's main site.
This data was likely fake numbers provided by the site to retain authors and motivate them to keep writing, filling up the book database.
Even so, Harry's data still stood out among the books added to the inventory that day.
Opening the author backend, Harry refreshed the data again:
[Title: Apocalypse: I Choose to Be a Villain]
[Current Clicks: 2583]
[Current Recommendations: 75]
[Current Collections: 35]
[Current Tips: 500 USD]
[Main Site Collections: 28]
The numbers had risen again, but as the book's position in the new inventory list moved further down, the growth seemed to slow.
"Should I post this data in the group and ask other authors if it's good or bad?"
Seeing the data growth slowing down, Harry hesitated over whether to share it in the group where other experienced authors from Group 9 hung out, to get their analysis.
Although new inventory data didn't mean much, authors in the past often compared and analyzed this data to predict a book's potential performance.
Just as Harry was hesitating, his Discord suddenly flashed. Looking at the avatar, it was someone from Web's contract group @ mentioning him.
Harry hurriedly opened the chat window to take a look.
Web Editor 4: @... Not bad, signed with Group 9? New book published? Hehe…
Daia: Yo, Broken God got signed? Broken God's gonna blow up this time!
Eagle: Group 9… that newly created free novel group, right… hehe…
Cuttlefish: Signing with Group 9 is something to brag about? Left Group 4 for Group 9? Hehe
: Being able to sign at all is better than not signing, hahaha…
Web Editor 4: Some people just refuse to listen and insist on wasting their time, let them be, hehe…
: Seniors, can you check my data? This is my 24 hour collection count [Main Site Collections: 15]
Bufan (Begging for Test Run): This data's a bit cold… I remember mine was 23 at 24 hours… Now it's so bad I didn't even get a test run…
The group was once again mocking Harry under Editor's instigation, but Harry instead became energized. He directly posted the backend data and said:
: Yes, signed 9 groups, feels pretty good. Can any experts help see if this data is good or bad?"
Coffee: "This data is great! Such good data?! This is about to blow up!"
Squid: "@Coffee Don't overthink it, he signed with the free channel. The data there isn't the same as the main site..."
Eagle: "That data is useless, just for fun."
Talking Elbow: "That data indeed doesn't have much reference value, but you can deduct the inflated numbers to calculate the real stats. He's only been up for less than an hour and already has this data. This book is pretty good. Also, didn't you see his main site collections? 28 collections in an hour. If he didn't artificially boost it or have old readers helping, this data looks like it could really blow up!"
Coffee: "Right, Old Habory's main site data is explosive!"
Daia: "Hmph... Old Habory, no need for this. Can't handle losing? Wasting money to inflate data and show off, is it fun? Holding on stubbornly only to end up flopping? Everything will be exposed once it goes on sale. It's pointless. As a friend, I advise you to stop wasting time and money. Just go find a factory job."
Editor Fox Jam from Group 9: "Daia, how do you know he manipulated data? Don't speak without evidence, OK?"
Editor from Group 4: "Fox Jam, you just got him transferred to you, and you're already shielding him like this? Don't we know his level? Hmph..."
...
Watching these people argue in the group, Harry suddenly felt impatient. He couldn't be bothered with their sarcastic remarks and passive-aggressive comments, so he indifferently closed the group chat.
However, from their conversation, Harry understood that his current data was actually very good, even explosive. That was enough.
Let them think he cheated if they wanted. Daia was right about one thing: once the book went on sale, everything would be revealed!
For now, Harry just needed to write daily, update daily, and patiently wait for the trial recommendation and the eventual sale. Of course, this would take a long time.
After closing the computer, it was already dinner time. Harry stretched his stiff neck, went downstairs, and ate a meal with the four beauties at home. Then, he immediately returned to the study and began frantically writing without delay...
The time spent in isolation writing and fully immersed in creation passed extremely quickly. In the blink of an eye, three days had gone by.
Harry's backlog of drafts had also reached an astonishing 300,000+ words!
After writing nonstop for three days, Harry finally began to feel exhausted.
Though he was holding onto his determination and full of confidence in his work, his body couldn't withstand such strain. Today, Harry felt restless sitting at his desk.
Three days without sex while focusing on writing left Harry's penis uncomfortably hard, remaining erect even as he typed.
It was now lunchtime, and Harry had lost interest in continuing to write. His two sisters-in-law had gone out, leaving him alone at home. He suddenly felt bored.
"Haven't visited sister-in-law in days. I wonder if she's settled in comfortably at the villa..."
When lonely, a man thinks of women—thinks of sex.
The moment Harry remembered his alluring sister-in-law Ruth waiting for him in his villa, desire flared within him.
Grabbing his phone, Harry immediately called Ruth.
"Hello, Harry..."
Hearing his sister-in-law's soft, seductive voice, Harry's breathing grew heavy.
Remembering their secret affair back in their hometown, he could barely control himself.
"Sister-in-law, are you home? Have you made lunch? I'd like to come over for a meal and keep you company."
"I was just about to eat! I'll make a few more dishes! Come quickly!" Ruth's voice trembled with excitement over the phone.
"Good! I'll be right there, baby. Wait for me!~~" Harry hung up and rushed downstairs, speeding toward the villa in his car.
Inside the quiet, spacious villa, Ruth—wearing a red minidress and an apron—eagerly prepared lunch while waiting for Harry.
Seeing Harry's car pull into the courtyard, she stood up nervously and excitedly, hurrying downstairs to greet him.
"Harry, you're here? Lunch is ready. Come in and eat!"
