Fang Lin stood trembling in silent horror, tears streaming down her face as she pressed a shaking hand to her mouth to muffle her sobs.
Shen Xiao didn't spare her a single glance as he shifted Yueyao's slight weight in his arms.
But then he paused.
Slowly, his obsidian eyes turned to Fang Lin, pinning her in place with a gaze so cold she felt the blood drain from her face. She gazed at him in horror and knew he clearly didn't like what she was doing!
His voice, when he spoke, was low and lethal, each word biting through the suffocating silence.
"Fang Lin," he said quietly, almost gently but with the coldness laced in his voice, "If you ever think of helping her escape again… if you whisper a hint of rebellion into her ear…"
He shifted his grip on Yueyao's limp body, adjusting her weight easily as he tilted his head slightly, his expression as calm as freshly fallen snow.
"I will make sure your entire family disappears overnight. Understood?"
