Chapter 3 - Ash And Requiem

-Yawn

"I've been walking for ages…"

Kyo says defeatedly yet he keeps walking on.

"This forest is way too big and I didn't emphasise where the Manuel would be…"

He suddenly jumps to the side and unsheathed his sword as he heard rustling in the bushes behind him.

"Who's there?" Damnit… i don't even have a Manuel yet so im significantly weaker than most…

He watches the bushes with deep focus then a a small squirrel jumps out allowing kyo to get his breath back

-Sigh

"Ah good it was just a squirrel… now let's keep treading forward"

A couple hours pass and it begins to darken outside and so he begins to set up camp for the day.

He finishes creating his small camp a few minutes later allowing him to rest and look through his equipment.

"Hm I've got two low stamina potions, my sword, a map that I bought off of a random guy, food and some water… if the situation gets dire and I get lost this should last me at least a few days"

Kyo ends up going to sleep and waking up early. He clears his small camp and starts walking again.

As the hours pass kyo starts getting more agitated until finally he spots something out of the usual… a stone with what appears to be a reflective mirror.

"What do I do with this… I didn't show the information on how to get the Manuel…"

Suddenly he realises something.

"The quote… I made a quote for it. Once the ray of light shines upon below an opening shall arise… that's the quote"

For the next two hours kyo has tried reflecting the light onto countless things even himself thinking it's a tricky riddle. Yet nothing worked.

"Ugh what do i do… nothings working. Damnit!"

He kicks the mossy stone causing a small circle barely bigger than a marble to appear.

"A circle? For what… wait what if I shine the light onto it? I'm a genius"

He then proceeds to shine light through the mirror onto the small circle.

-Crack

-Snap

The circle cracks then snaps opening a new entrance on the rock. He walks inside and there appears to be stars leading down, then a ladder and he starts climbing down.

He keeps climbing down and it seems endless. "How long is this darn ladder?"

He looks up and he can't even see the top anymore.

An hour passes and his hands are now bleeding and sore. He is exhausted but he has gone too far to stop.

Another two hours pass and his body is now shaking immensely, his feet is bleeding and he is extremely exhausted.

"I-I can't go… anymore"

He passes out and falls. Then suddenly he wakes up and it seems he made it.

His eyes brighten as he celebrates. "Finally! That took forever!"

Yet as he looks down he realises he is still bleeding.

"Ugh damnit what do it do…"

As he frantically searches the room with his eyes he spots a potion on the floor a couple feet from him so he crawls over and drinks it.

-Gulp

As soon as he finishes drinking the potion his body starts to heal.

"My body… it doesn't hurt anymore"

Suddenly.

-CRASH

A cyborg the size of a rhino came crashing into the wall beside me.

I quickly jump up and move back. I say coldly trying to sound threatening.

"Who are you"

But I already knew.

Rael the cyborg. He is the guardian of the Manuel. His rank is A but because of a past bandit who came down here from pure chance rael got injured and is currently at the strength E rank.

I still get overshadowed by him but if I play it smart I may be able to defeat him.

"Ah hey you look a lot like a cyborg just made out of uh rubble"

"Human I am the guardian of this temple… why are you here"

I pretend that I'm pondering whilst tapping my finger on my chin.

"Isn't it obvious?"

My voice turns low and serious.

"I need the Manuel"

Rael didn't move.

Then came the click. His shoulders hissed open as steam pours out in thick jets.

"Request: Denied," he said. His voice was calm. Too calm. As if he had done this countless times before.

From beneath his alloyed plating, The Ashcore Emitters rose-sleek, polished barrels glowing like miniature suns. The air distorted with heat. The floor beneath him cracked.

I felt it even before I processed it. The pressure. The heat. It… forced me to my knees and before I knew it.

It fires.
