Chapter 260: It Seems the Spirit Clan Has Chosen the Wrong Opponent
"Hmm?"
The Spirit Clan's patriarch paused, a flash of cold light flickering deep within his eyes. Then, quickly regaining his composure, he chuckled lightly and said,
"The horrors of the Abyssal Demons Burial are well known to everyone here."
"The Spirit Clan would indeed risk annihilation if we were to enter it recklessly—but tell me, what of your Profound Sun Holy Land?"
In his view, Profound Sun Holy Land was doomed this time.
Once Li Xun entered the Abyssal Demons Burial, all they needed to do was seal the exit. Then, no matter how heaven-defying Li Xun's abilities were, he would never escape alive.
Unless Profound Sun Holy Land refused to go.
But if they didn't, that would only give others an excuse. Once a Quasi-Emperor pursued the matter, who could bear that pressure on behalf of Profound Sun Holy Land?
Even the Northern Yu Imperial Dynasty could not.
It was true their ancestors had once produced a Great Emperor, but those days were long gone. With no Quasi-Emperor among them now, relying on a single Imperial Weapon would not be enough to suppress a genuine Quasi-Emperor.
"You worry too much," Li Xun said faintly. "The Spirit Clan won't remain in this world for many more years. If I were you, I wouldn't make so much noise."
Those words left everyone present completely dumbfounded.
The Spirit Clan was no ordinary power. For thousands of years, their strength had only risen, their ranks filled with powerful cultivators. By all appearances, they were at their peak.
There was no sign at all that they were on the verge of destruction.
Yet Li Xun's tone was calm and certain, as though stating an inevitable truth—leaving everyone deeply puzzled.
"Could it be that Li Xun intends to strike at the Spirit Clan?" someone whispered.
Many recognized Li Xun's strength. Some even believed he was no weaker than a Half-Saint. If he were to secretly move against the Spirit Clan, he could indeed cause them severe damage.
After all, even though the Spirit Clan was powerful, among their younger generation, there was no one capable of contending with Li Xun.
"Ordinarily, the name Profound Sun Holy Land wouldn't even draw the attention of a Quasi-Emperor, after all, they're just a newly risen Holy Land."
"But somehow, they appeared in the ancient scrolls, and were even assigned to the Abyssal Demons Burial by a Quasi-Emperor."
"It's very likely that the Spirit Clan, the Xiao Clan, and the Star Moon Divine Sect were pulling strings behind the scenes."
"With this kind of cause and effect between them, Li Xun targeting the Spirit Clan makes perfect sense."
"Not only that," another added, "Li Xun also exposed the scandals of the Xiao Clan and the Spirit Clan inside the Great Strength Divine Demon Sect's minor world. No matter what happens, those two powers will never forgive him."
Many powerful cultivators murmured among themselves.
They could already sense that a great war was brewing—a conflict that would determine the rise and fall of several major forces.
Li Xun was already at the Divine Palace Realm, and rumors said he was gathering Saint level materials—proof that he had the confidence to advance to Sainthood.
Considering how quickly he had reached the Divine Palace Realm, many believed Li Xun might become a Saint within just a few hundred years.
And once that happened, even the older generations thought that his foundation would make him at least a Five-Tribulation Saint—invincible among his peers!
Perhaps the Xiao Clan could still endure such a storm. But whether the Spirit Clan would survive… that was another matter entirely.
"Such courage!"
"Throughout all of history, you are the first to dare speak to my Spirit Clan in this way! Today, I will teach you a lesson!"
"Those who oppose my Spirit Clan—meet only one end!"
The Spirit Clan patriarch's expression grew even colder. His left eye became as dark as a black sun, within which ghostly black flames flickered—so chilling that it made everyone's blood run cold.
He looked less like a man now, and more like a god or demon descended.
He flicked his sleeve, and a jade slip flew out, rising into the air above the grand hall.
Within it, an image unfolded—endless mountain ranges stretching as far as the eye could see.
Amid those mountains, a bloody battle was raging.
The scene was brutal—divine powers clashing, heaven and earth trembling.
Many Divine Power Realm and Life and Death Realm cultivators were fighting fiercely, while on the outer edges, even Divine Palace (Shengong) Realm experts were watching from afar.
"Huh? That young man in the image—he looks familiar. Isn't that… Xiao Fan?"
"Xiao Fan? You mean the former owner of the Immortal Body from the Xiao Clan?"
"That's right! I didn't expect to see him like this. Seems he's fallen into a life and death crisis. With so many Divine Power and Life and Death realm experts—and even Divine Palace cultivators present—his chances of survival are slim."
"I heard that this boy called Li Xun his elder brother. But now that Li Xun's at the Crape Myrtle Holy Land, he's too far away to help, even if he wanted to."
"Still, you have to admit—that kid's talent is terrifying. Just two years ago he was only at the Profound Elixir Realm, and now he's already stepped into the Divine Power Realm. The Xiao Clan really destroyed a peerless genius with their own hands!"
The hall buzzed with voices—surprise at Xiao Fan's strength, pity for his fate, and, from some, thinly veiled schadenfreude.
After all, Xiao Fan's displayed talent was monstrous. His future potential might even rival Li Xun's.
If he were killed now, that would mean one less powerful ally for Li Xun—and for the Xiao Clan's Xiao Chen, one less rival.
When Xiao Chen fully matured, who could say whether he or Li Xun would emerge victorious in the future?
What truly unsettled some within the Xiao Clan, however, was that the Spirit Clan's patriarch had chosen to reveal all this so publicly.
Wasn't this practically dragging the Xiao Clan into the mud?
They had already taken Xiao Fan's Immortal Marrow—and now, this?
They were seen as going for total annihilation.
It was hard to escape the impression that the Xiao Clan was utterly cold-blooded.
And once that reputation spread, who would dare associate too closely with them again?
"Three Divine Palace realm cultivators and ten Life and Death realm experts—all to kill a single Divine Power Realm youth."
"The Spirit Clan truly spares no expense."
Li Xun spoke leisurely, his tone calm and indifferent, without a trace of visible anger.
That composure left everyone—from the Spirit Clan and Xiao Clan to all their allies—utterly baffled.
By all logic, shouldn't Li Xun be furious right now? Shouldn't he already be preparing to strike?
So why was he this unshaken?
Could it be that… he didn't really care about Xiao Fan's life or death?
"The Spirit Clan is not to be insulted," the Spirit Clan patriarch replied coldly. "Today I merely state a fact—all who stand against the Spirit Clan will be ground to dust!"
"The blood of Ling Cang and the others from the Great Strength Divine Demon Sect will not flow in vain."
"I'm afraid," Li Xun said with quiet amusement, "that your Spirit Clan has chosen the wrong opponent."
If it had been anyone else caught in such a siege, Li Xun would have been certain—surrounded by so many high-level cultivators, it would be certain death.
But Xiao Fan was different.
What the Spirit Clan had done today would accomplish nothing but deepening the hatred between them and the protagonist.
Worse, under the protection of his heaven-blessed fortune, Xiao Fan might even turn calamity into opportunity.
Given time, he might soon gain the strength to storm the Spirit Clan's headquarters himself.
